WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Hmmm ... why is there always so
much discord here between Indians
and other Asians? I'm East Asian
and have never had a problem with
Indians, looks or personality wise.

Get it right man
"AZN Realist, why don't you be realistic for a change!"
funny guy eh? ok lets be realistic, you said
"You make it seems as though there are a lot of mestizos in the Phillipines"
now there are approximately 1% of filipinos are mestizo, the phillippines has a population of around 76million, 1% of 76million is?.....760,00 mestizos approx. which means the filipinos with chinese blood are around the same. now in my earlier post i believe i wrote
"Filipino is only the nationality of millions of malays and thousands of mestizos and chinese.." how am i being unrealistic when saying thousands of mestizos in realisty there is?
Get it right man, why dont you get it right for a change.

NdNgurl,
"In fact, i have come into contact with many filipinos with WAY WAY TOO MUCH FILIPINO PRIDE! It was as if every other nationality failed in comparison to the filipinos! Beyond that there was just a hint of too much conceit, sort of self absorbed. But there could be filipinos that arent like this, (and i know a COUPLE) but most seem to be. I dunno, just my opinion, and my experience!
"
Does this post look familiar? You wrote it a few days ago. I believe this is definitely bashing (it's nice that you've met a COUPLE of decent Filipinos when most are self absorbed and conceited). This, taken together with the heavy IMPLICATION in your other post, leads me to believe that you were bashing. If you were not bashing, then I apologize. But there is an anger (frustration?) in your previous post, and taken in that context, it sounded like you were bashing, but in a more subtle manner.

Get it right man:
"Of course all Filipinos think they are Spaniards or Latinos or Hispanics"
LOL. So very true :) HAHAHAH
As yet I haven't met a single Filipino (and trust me in my lifetime I've met at least a few hundred Filos) who hasn't desperately added "BUT I'm part Spanish" into the conversation whenever we are talking about ancestry. And every single one of these filos who "claimed" Spanishness looked 110% Malay, most of them even looked Vietnamese or from Laos.
They can't get away with saying they are Spanish or Hispanic so they do the next best thing, they say the are 1/1000th part Spanish.
But then again most Filipinos do think they are Spanish or Latinos or Hispanics. What a joke.
True, Very True

MTSO,
Yeah, they do list Corazon Aquino. I can't remember the exact web address tho. I have also seen info about Corazon Aquino in books about the overseas Chinese just like Jose Rizal.
There is a website about the Tsinoys and Filipinos of mix Chinese ancestry. I think it is www.tsinoy.com.
There are also some books out there about the Chinese-Filipinos, most of is literature. I can't remember the title of the books, but I do remember a Filipina friend of mine was reading a book called An Anthology of Chinese-Filipino Writing, which has writings in Tagalog, Chinese and English. Maybe u want to check it out.
Despite the turbulent history of the Phillipines due to the arrival of the Spaniards with their harsh treatment of the Natives and Chinese, and then the American and the Japanese invasions of the country; everything of the Philippines has a Native, Spanish and Chinese element to it. I think all Filipinos should embrace their rich and diverse culture. They should be proud that they represent a crossroad of several dominant cultures.
Actually, maybe with exception of the Koreans in Korea, All ASIANS are mixed.
The Chinese have mixed with the Arabs, Persians, Jews, Turks, and some European Christians. All Chinese in the South are mixed with some Malay, and some also mixed with the Portuguese.
The Japanese have blood of the Chinese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese and Ainu (aborigine).
The Taiwanese have blood of the Chinese mixed with aborigine, some also with Portuguese, Japanese or Dutch.
Southeast Asians are mixed with Malay, Chinese, and other groups like Spanish, Portuguese, Indian or Dutch.
