Without West Malaysians running the state of sabah or borneo, you people might still be living on treetops...without filthy indians and chinese, you would never be where u are today.To tell you straight from the face, most sabahans voted to come into malaysia coz they were ignorant just abt everything. And now that they become a little richer and have a little more to eat, they demand this and that. Ive never said that east malaysia never contributed anything or isnt an important part of malaysia.We need East Malaysia, and you needed and need us too. Dont you start giving that bullshit of yours abt how west malaysians came and rob your riches. Remember and be grateful. If you think sabahans need to be purely for sabahan people, then i guess sabahans working, staying and studying in west malaysia should also pack their bags and go back to sabah where you all belong!!!!

ok, there was no vote from the people, especially the natives, IF there was a vote then it would have been the british rulers that were there at the time who decided to form malaysia. What i think they should of done, is at that time Kalimantan was held by the dutch, the dutch should have cooperated with the british and united all the seperated areas of borneo to become one country, "The Republic of Borneo". Do you know if your caught even talking about Sabah and Sarawak gaining independence from Malaysia, then the police will arrest you. Alot of you west Malaysians have no idea what the original people of sarawak and sabah feel about Malaysia. Do you all think were stupid and we dont know that Kuala Lumpur gains all the wealth from Sabah's oil and timber and palm oil. They try to force islam on the natives by giving only muslim people the top jobs. Even the chinese are oppressed, never mind the NATIVE people of the land. Politicians can only go far in Malaysia if they convert to islam. Look im not angry at you i just get really pissed off when west malaysians assume that sabahans and sarawakians are loving being a part of malaysia.

Doesn't this contradict what you say about there being no such thing as Chinese?

So aren't you basically saying that only more northern Chinese or those who are from north of Guangdong are truly Chinese? -- since to not look like them is to not look Chinese?

I don't think it is precisely the case that Cantonese look different from other Chinese. Rather, I think Chinese of different regions look different from each other.

Part 2

Alright, I found a detailed map of China, and I found that Chungsan is almost smack in the middle of Southern Guangdong. Toisan is to the west, but not very faraway (at least from the scale of a map of the whole of China). However, being a native of Chungsan I can't understand the Toisan dialect at all. The two dialects are completely different. Guangdong, and China for that matter, is a strange place.

No offense to chinese, but I hate it when they hire them to play Filipino roles on movies, tv. Hollywood doesnt know SH*T about filipino culture, people, America claims to be our friend but they dont know what a Filipino is. I want filipinos to play filipinos. I dont want them to exploited like other asians where they are the butt of every ethnic joke and stereotype. When Ms. America 2001, Angela Perez Baraquio won, it was one of the happiest days of my life. For the first time ever, someone made me feel good about myself. She's 100% filipina, brown caramel skin, round almond eyes, a FILIPINA THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN AMERICA! But then they only say she is Hawaiian...not even mention she is filipina even though she looks like it and has a filipino name. They celebrate her statehood not her ethnicity. Sometimes, i feel as if Filipinos are always being put aside, ignored. We have worked so hard in this country, being called brown monkeys by whites, being discriminated by other asians who claim falsely we want to be hispanic or something. Filipinos need to get the credit they deserve. You know something, I dont care what you guys think, I'm proud to be filipino.

No such thing as Chinese (or others who know the answer),

I'm Cantonese of the Chungsan (or Zhongshan, translates as "middle mountain") area. Are Chungsan people Western or Eastern Cantonese?

Also, it seems that some people who speak Chungsan dialects can understand some Taiwanese dialects (Min?) quite well. Does anyone know if the dialects are related somehow?
