food and race:

You seem to think that these foods from Asia that appear similar to other food from Europe and the Middle East is because people from the West took it with them to the East (i.e. Asia) and took features of their race to Asia.

Its the other way around. Its the Mongols that took the cuisine, spices and to a very small extent even their race from the east to the west.
It's likelier (although almost non-existant) for a cuacasian to have asian ancestry than for an asian to have caucasian ancestry.
The reason a person in China may have a similar feature to a person in Europe would be because the person in Europe may have had a great-great-great-great grandfather who was a mongol, and not because the Chinese person had a great-great-great-great grandfather who was Caucasian.

"maybe with exception of the Koreans in Korea, All ASIANS are mixed."

this is almost right. But Koreans are also mixed.
In ancient time, Rice breeding people came from china. and Some aboriginal people were exist (maybe close to JOMON people in japan).
Next, Manchurian people came from north. And then, when Han dynasty, many chinese people came to Korean peninsula.
And after that, Mongolian people and Japanese people came.
So, Korean people is also mixd.
I think there are major two types of face in Korea.
One is big and wide face with high cheekbone. They are related to Manchurian and mongolian.
Another is narrow and long face. They are related to North chinese and Japanese.

I'm not Chinese but from all I read, if it wasn't for the Chinese immigrants to your so called "native" land you guys wouldn't have much of a commerce. Wasn't it the Chinese who developed trade in your countries like Malaysia, Phillipines, Sinagpore, etc...
I say if it wasn't for the Chinese you folk would be still only farming and even more backward. I think so many of you "natives" in Malaysia, Phillpines are jealous of the prosperous Chinese merchants.

History Freak:

About the origins of Vietnamese people, I did read that they they were one of the "Hundred Yuet" tribes that fought against the Han Chinese as they expanded towards southern China, and that their original homeland was in Fujian or possibly as far north as the Yangtze River delta.

Actually, I have also read that the original homeland of Filipino/ Malay/Indonesian/ peoples is also in southern China, very possibly in Fujian Province. (a good reference is from Guns, Germs and Steel by Diamond, Jared. Chapters 16-17) My understanding is that these peoples were displaced by other non-Chinese peoples (possibly including Vietnamese).

In fact, most of the peoples that inhabit S.E Asia today (inc. Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippinese, Indonesia) originated in southern China.

Fiji Coup,
I live in Hawaii and the situation here is both similar and different at the same time. Asians also dominate the state government here but you don't hear any native Hawaiians complaining about it. You don't here them saying things like "Hawaii is being overun by Asians" or "non Hawaiians don't belong here". Why? because they have accepted the fact that they are a minority in their own land as you Fijians will soon also be.

I don't know about genetics, but the pastry sweets of Guangdong is undoubtedly similar to those of the Muslim world (Arabia, Persia, Turkey).

I thoughtI was the only one to realized this!

I guess there are other people out there who think the same.

What about the meats that are roasted that are so typical of Southern Chinese cuisine and Middle Eastern Cusine? Is there an influence on Southern Chinese cusine as well?

Yangzhou Fried Rice is not a great dish but yes, it does resemble those Middle Eastern rice platters.

Do you also realize that both the Cantonese and Fujianese have "Persian" "Turkic" and "Arabic" facial features, yet these 2 groups look very different from one another? Perhaps the Cantonese and the Fujianese absorbed different strains of the "Persian","Arabic" and "Turkic" genes.

Btw, for some strange reason many of the Filipinos whom I've met look more "Chinese" than the other Southeast Asian groups. And many Filipinos who look Chinese have Fujianese facial features just like the people of Taiwan and Hainan.

This world is a crazy place sometimes.

Okay, someone mentioned in an earlier post that the actress that plays "Dark Angel"(Jessica Alba) is Pinay. She is NOT Pinay!!! From a 2000 or 2001 issue of MAXIM Magazine, she stated that she was half MEXICAN, SPANISH, FRENCH and some various other European ethnicity.

While during research on an obscure people called the "melungeon" I came across some interesting info. These people came originally from Turkey and settled in the Appalacian region of N. America hundreds of years ago. Their descendants are supposed to still be around today. Supposedly, one way to tell if a person is descendant from these melungeons is if they have what is known as an "anatolian bump" on the back of the head. This is a boney protrusion on the back part of the skull that can be felt right in between the ears. It can be as big as half a golf ball in some people. This bump is supposed to indicate that at least some of a person's ancestors came from the Anatolian region of Turkey. I myself have such a bump on the back of head, but I am Japanese. Does this mean some of my ancestors came from Turkey? Does anyone else here have this "anatolian bump"?
