WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Kimheeseon,
You earn my respect for your research on Vietnamese people. Originally Viet (or Yuehs in Chinese) has their roots deep inside China on Yangtze River (called Giang Tu*? in Vietnamese) banks. When Ta^`n Thu?y Hoa`ng (Chinese spelling?), the one who buit the Great Wall, conquered all six small states included Viet, the Viets fled south to Red River delta which is north Vietnam now and formed the first kingdom of Vietnam.
From 14th to 16th century, kingdom of Vietnam pushed south and brought the Champ, a Muslim state located in central Vietnam, into extinction. Many fled to the Khmer Empire (Cambodia). Some thousands of Chams still live in the central area from Danang to Binh Thuan. After that, Kingdom of Vietnam continued to push south all the way to Gulf of Thailand and conquered southern part including Saigon from the Khmer Empire.
You are correct. The Champs and Cambodians are not related to Chinese in terms of people, culture, philosophy, literature, and architecture. The Vietnamese do. The Chams practice Muslim. Like Thailand and Laos, the Cambodians practice Indian Buddhism. By contrast, the Vietnamese practice Chinese Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism which Vietnamese called Tam Gia’o ( Three Religions) all from China. Not to mention Vietnam was under China rule for more than one thousand years. Even after Vietnam gained independence from China, Chinese was official written language in Kingdom of Vietnam until the French came.
Have you traveled to South East Asia lately? Have you noticed Vietnamese skins are much lighter than Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, Indonesians and Fillipinos? Other Southeast Asian countries have never been ruled or contacted with China. Of course there are ethnic Chinese in all South East Asian countries. But Vietnam has the most because of its long border with China, 800 miles and long coastline, 2000 miles.

Harry,
Do you know what is also interesting?
When I was in Spain, I have seen some Spaniards who have facial features resembling those of the Southern Chinese.
I was in Italy too, but the Italians don't share the same facial features as the Spaniards.
Perhaps, it might be the Arab genes in the Spaniards (Most of Spain was once an Islamic territory, Islam spread from Spain all the way to China).
Besides the people, the pastries from Spain also resemble those Southern Chinese pastries you've mentioned. The Music and Language also shows Middle Eastern Influence as well.
The Spaniards also have a knack for rice, seafood and fresh fruits than the other Mediterranean peoples. Spaniards consume the most rice, seafood and fresh fruits of all the Europeans. They also the least inclined to eat fast food. Unlike Italians and Greeks, Spaniards consume less Mc Donalds' Fried Chicken, Pizza sort of thing in their country. They rather eat healthy. Perhaps the Middle Eastern influence is deeply ingrained in Spain's past.

"Hm... Filippinos look like chinese. that's because they are part chinese. but they look different."
Not all Filipinos, only some with Chinese facial types. In fact, only some Filipinos claim to have Chinese blood. The numbers might be high but again, a small % of Filipinos claim any Chinese ancestry. Its like 5% or less.
It happens that sometimes you come across some Filipinos who have almost a pure Chinese look with a slight tinge of Malay or Spanish.

chinatown,
we all must have come from somewhere, science tells us humans originated in Africa. On the map, I see Turkey between Asia and Africa so is it so improbable some of your ancestors came from there? I an talking about human migrations that happened thousands of years ago, before the founding of any dynasty in Chins. I also read that Corean, Manchurian, and Japanese to a lesser degree are classified as Altaic languages, same as Turkish.

Asian Marco Polos
When I wrote "Mongols" introduced Asian foodstuffs and racial characteristics from the East to the west, i meant "Mongol" as in "Mongoloid".
I do realise that Mongol on its own can mean both the entire race and also a sub-branch.
The Affix "-LOID" of the word Mongoloid means "looks like". So Mongoloids are called Mongoloid because they look like the Mongols.
Now, furthermore, the Turks are also a sub-branch of the Mongoloid race. However, the Turkish of Turkey are Caucasoid because all the Turk genes have been flushed out by progressive interbreeding with local Caucasoid populations.
That’s why in Turkey you can find blonde blue eyed and pale skinned Turkish women and the men are all Caucasoid.
The only thing left in Turkey that is still truly Turkic is their language, which is distantly related to Japanese. That's rite Turkish and Japanese are cousin languages.
Turks are native to Asia, and they are a Mongoloid race. It is these Mongoloid Turks who travelled between the east and west and introduced foods and spices and culture. But the Turks of Turkey became Caucasoidized (lol) while the others in Asia remained Mongoloid.
Any person in China or Asia who says they bear resemblance to the Turks is because the Turks they bare resemblance to are also of Mongoloid race, and not because the Chinese person thinks he may have Caucasian Turkish blood.
Turks (mongoloids) were the agents who travelled from west to east, otherwise Turkish people wouldn’t be Turkish (caucasoid), they’d also be Turks (mongols)
