to all the Koreans (Coreans) here. That site ends with tw, So it's from Taiwan. I think it's one of those magazine sites, so please don't jump to conclusions. There's also a similar article in Japannow.com. I also think there are quite a few cute Korean girls during my highschool, but I always suspect them of having plastic surgery. I got nothing against Koreans. And I don't see anything wrong with plastic surgery. I don't really care. Let's all shake hands and call it even. Cheers. To non East-Asians, we are all the same. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Viets are the only country that eat rice regularly. It's only natural that we look slightly different, since climate, diet, weather afffects how people look like. BTW, we shouldn't judge how attractive a certain group of people are by judging celebrities. That way you will have a false view, since looking pretty is first priority for all celebrities.

In the July 2002 issue, Asia Times magazine reports that 1 million Taiwanese folks (double the number from five years ago) underwent plastic surgery in year 2001 alone. That is, approximately 4.5% of the total of 23 million Taiwanese.

It is well known fact that Korean actors and actresses are so popular in Taiwan and China these days that those who undergo plastic surgery prefer to look like one of Korean celebrities (I am not kidding!). If you happen to see somewhat Kim He-Sun, Lee Young-Age or Choi Ji-Woo looking Taiwanese or Chinese girl, you can safely assume that she had undergone facial lifts. It is my understanding that Taiwanese (every ethnicity in Asia for that matter) look different from the Koreans in facial and physical features.

I often hear that Taiwanese will not forget what Korea had done to them. This refers to the event that had taken place between Korea and Taiwan in 1992 in which Korea terminated formal diplomatic relationship with Taiwan and supported main land China’s claim that Taiwan is a part of China.

Along with Taiwanese feelings of betrayal and slight by Korea, Korea is perceived as an economic adversary in international trades.

It is not a secret that there are fervent anti Korea sentiments among many Taiwanese over what they feel partial judgment over a Tae-Kwon-Do match between a Korean and a Taiwanese in 2002 Asian Games this year.
It is well reported in Korea that China and Taiwan are only regions in Asia that were critical of Korea’s advance to the World Cup semi-final.
Taiwan, along with China, claims that Korea advanced to the World Cup semi-final with help from referees who received money from Korea government.

What are all these talks in Taiwan about Korean entertainers?
Despite not so friendly views of many Taiwanese toward Korea, the surging popularity of Korean entertainment among younger generations in Taiwan put many people on worry. Many even go on to claim that this is a cultural invasion. Three months ago hundred of Taiwanese entertainers took to the streets and demanded that Taiwanese TV stations stop airing Korean Dramas. They claim that they are left without jobs because of Korean dramas.
Well, as one Taiwanese girl put it, I stopped watching Taiwanese dramas because natural or fake I don’t find any of leads in our dramas good looking.

In Taiwan, there are many organized efforts going on spreading false rumors that all Korean celebrities are fake. They are not only spreading false rumors but also resort to EDIT photos of Korean celebrities in order to make them appear fake.

I understand the situation and feelings of many interested parties. However,I feel pity for those who go extreme to bash Koreans in an effort to protect their interests.

Acutally that site is not mine, so I don't know who actually did all the "research and analysis" as someone suggested. Looking at the pictures, I presume it's actually from a Korean source since it has littie bittie "Korean alphabet" on it.

A friend sent the link to me, and I was not surprised to see how *ahem* DIFFERENT Korean "celebrities" are pre-surgery. It just confirmed what everyone knew all along - that Koreans need 10 layers of make-up, and numerous eye, nose, jaw, and face surgery to look presentable. Not to mention proper lighting and a professional photographer...

One thing that I notice in the before pics is that all Koreans have littie bittie slits that they call eyes. However, after surgery, they all have double eyelids to make them look more Chinese. Why is that?

Someone suggested some of these photos are not real. Why do you say that? I think they look authentic. Perhaps this someone cannot handle the truth?

Anyways, can a Korean tell me what jawbone surgery is? I heard they saw the jawbone to get rid square face. It must be really painful. Why do koreans put themselves through so much torture? Are they not happy with their natural looks?

I know that many (not all) Koreans look down on Vietnamese, Filipino and other Southeast Asians. They look down on the Chinese too, but not to the same extent as they do on the Southeast Asians.

I know it's got to be false in real life for Koreans to do that. But, on the Internet I have come across more than a few sites, where Koreans almost always show disdain for the countries and ethnic groups to the south of China.

Chinese people do not differentiate between northern Asians and southern Asians because Chinese always are a mixture of the two (not too light skin and not too dark skin, eyes not too small and not too big). We can connect to both. We can easily understand the cultures of both Koreans and Vietnamese.

I think when northern Asians and southern Asians mix, their children are the most beautiful looking.

I know there are some Vietnamese or Filipinos who might be dating or married to Koreans and do not wish to see websites where Koreans show disdain for their groups and culture.

take the worst high school photo without makeup put it next to glamour photo of present.. who wouldnt look different! ITs just another sad way some Chinese are doing to try to put down Koreans.

Fact is no one race has all the good looking people while another one has all the ugly people, there is a ratio in every race.
And because of statistics and the sheer number of chinese there are, chinese has the most number of good looking people in the world, and by that very definition, they also have the most number of ugly fuglys civiliazation has ever seen.

Thanks for the insight. I was always wondered how it happened that Korean actors/actresses looked considerably Chinese (and better) when juxtaposed with their compatriots from Korea. It all makes so much sense now.

No wonder koreans got such a high score for most attractive physical traits on this poll (23%). Koreans are not naturally beautiful. They need lots of makeup and surgery to look like Chinese. I even heard Koreans saw their jawbones to get rid of square face. Yikes, what the hell! That's just weird...

According to U.S Census 2000, the number of Vietnamese living in America has reached a little more than 1 million and ranked number four after Chinese (2.4 million), Filipino (1.8 million), Asian Indian (1.6 million) but surpass the Korean (1 million) and Japanese (.8 million) among Asian American population. Vietnamese are the fastest growing in population of Asian American. The total population of Asian American makes up less than 4% of the U.S population. And sad yet, many still don’t get along like you see on this boardroom.

Compared to other Asian American counterparts, most Vietnamese in America are considered FOBS, and most are bilingual. Indeed, Vietnamese have just been around in America after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Needless to say, since Vietnamese are newcomers, they are facing the most prejudice and the least acceptance in America. (Who cares anyway. The Vietnamese survive the Vietnam War, they must survive the discrimination in America.)

Little Saigon in Santa Anna is called capital of oversea Vietnamese (population more than 250,000) and Houston, Texas is the second largest Vietnamese community in America.

The good news is, just 20 years after coming in this country, the statistic shows many Vietnamese are holding professional positions in a very short time. Many are MDs, scientists, engineers and more become educators teaching from Medical to computer network, programming in many U.S universities and colleges.
