SoCal Asian,
having respect for your brotherman is not a "trend or fashion" but people like "Know Your place boy" are the koreans and asians at their worst.

CNB,
Koreans are really proud people for sure. That can˘Ąt be denied. But we don˘Ąt go around tapping our backs, congratulating each other, and talking trash about other people, (Somehow I think this is the image that some of you have) we're proud of our country just like you're proud of yours.
You're right about this forum having people trying to make a mess among asians. Sometimes I've read posts from people who claim to be koreans but seem to know nothing about Koreans.

I am a 19-year-old university student and I am interested in Asian languages and cultures (and, of course, the people who created them).
I have to say that I think Asian nationalities are much more distinct from one another than European nationalities are. I can easily identify a person as a Korean, Thai, etc. but it is almost impossible for me to conjecture on the national origin of a European person. Well, Irish people are weird, Greek people (and also people from southern Italy, many of whom have close links to Greece) are often quite different-looking, and Russians are sort of unique (they often look part Mongolian), but for the most part European people all look the same.
Frankly, I think the Japanese are by far the best-looking group of Asians. The percentage of amazingly good-looking people in Japan is much higher than in other Asian countries (or any countries), I think. Part of it may be due to Japanese people's sharp fashion sense: I know Chinese people are (justifiably) proud of China's 4,000+ year history, but they would look better if they didn't dress like it (you know what I mean? ;)). That doesn't mean that I think other Asian nationalities (i.e., besides Japanese)don't have many, many beautiful members, though!
By the way, I think the poll on this page is rather useless, because Chinese people are by far the most numerous, and most of the visitors to this webpage appear to be of Chinese ancestry, so the bias is so great as to make the results meaningless.
"Koreans, on average, do have more hate for other Asians instead of vice vera. Is it the 60 years of brutal Japnese rule?"
Interesting theory - I do think Korean people seem more nationalistic than other Asian groups. It's important to remember that Koreans have been pushed around and tortured by neighboring Asian groups (first by the Chinese, later by the Mongols and Japanese) innumerable times over the past 2,500 years, so may their hyper-nationalism and (this is a stereotype, of course) dislike of other Asian nations stems from that history of being mistreated.

Geez, I hope you morons who brag about your cultural or ethnic superiority and put down others understand your own foolishness. You all gotta understand that history of civilizations is all about cycles.
Sometimes a certain ethnic or cultural sphere will dominate for a long period of time and then decline and another will take its place. Think of all those ancient Romans bragging about their superiority. What about those Mongols who thought their race/culture will rule for eternity? It is pointless to be prideful about this sort of stuff. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
People who put down others and brag about their culture and "race" have very little to contribute overall to human civilization. Where would asians be if great thinkers like Buddha or Confucious were ignorant racists. You people brag of your Korean-ness, Chinese-ness, Japanese-ness like you did something to contribute to it. Get your pale asses off your computer chair and make something of yourselves instead of bickering like spoiled children on cyberspace. When you are six feet under, I hope you did something meaningful as a fellow human being in your short stay on this spinning piece of rock called Earth.
Peace.

Epidemiology: Ethnic breakdown of Mongolian Spots
1)Black infants: 96%
2)Native americans infants: 90%
3)Asian infants: 81-90%
4)Hispanic infants: 46-70%
5)White infants: 10%
Obviously Mongolian spots are not limited to one specific race.

I've been visiting this site for weeks and found out that you guys are still debating on the same subject "who's better looking than who?". Why is that? Thought we are all human beings and belong to the same species? I just don't understand all this "Korean girls are better looking" or "Chinese girls are better looking" thing.I've seen beautiful Korean girls as well as beautiful Chinese girls in college. My Boyfriend is Korean too. But, I don't find Koreans more attractive than Chinese or vice versa. This applies to other nationalities.

to Eugene,
It seems to me the Koreans got a different version of history books. I wonder why your high class Korean conquerors didn't stay in your peninsula and felt the need to conquer China. But then again, Manchurians and Mongols didn't really considered themselves Korean or see Koreans as brothers. They felt closer to Northern Chinese people. If they see themselves as Koreans or close relatives, then why did the Mongols killed Koreans just like how they killed Chinese and Europeans. Why did they preferred to rule China instead of Korea? Look at present Mongolia; half the population are Chinese descendants. Ask the modern Manchurians in Northern-China who would the rather identify themselves with. As for Confusius, why did he go all the way to China and teach Chinese people instead of his own people, the Koreans(you guys didn't even have your own writing system back then)? Why did Koreans copy our writing system and the teaching of Confucius from us Chinese and not the other way around? History and logic is already on our side. It's so obvious your version of history is just some made up story by some insecure delusional Korean historian. Confusius from the East? Even Chinese people divide their country from north, south, east, west, since China is so big you can't locate yourself by saying I m from China; I m from east China is more specific. And Confucius is a Western name, named by Westerners. His real name is Kung Fu Ji(southern spelling) or Quang Hu Chi(northern spelling). Is there a Kung or Quang Korean surname instead of the usual Kim and Park and Lee. It's funny how Koreans got their style of naming(2 or 3 characters, unlike Japanese, Manchurian and Mongolian names which consist of many syllables) from us Chinese and now they try to claim our famous people. Speaking of confucius teachings, aren't we the more well manner people? BTW, I got a lil birthmark on my buttocks. It's it the infamous Mongolian birthmarks? Will you claim me as a Korean too? I still got nothing against Koreans, but I m just trying to point out all this false claims by Korean people. It's really scary, since all this Korean historical knowledge is so different from other Asians.

Eugene,
You sound just like those Afrocentrist scholars. Only emotional talk and wishful thinking. No true evidence to what you are saying.
Confucius being Korean? Gimme a break...
He does mentions Dong-yi people (Koreans), but never mentions that he is from them.
This world does not revolve around your Koreacentric views. You have no academic recognition beyond your own circles of Korean nationalists and bigots who only insult the intelligences of themselves and Koreans by twisting history in such a 180 degree turn of bafoonery.

I say this because CNB also reminded me of something similar in high school.
I failed algebra and had to take it again after winter break. So, I was assigned to this class where most of the students were foreigners newly arrived.
I still struggled with algebra, but lo and behold I met 2 Koreans who were nice enough to let me "see" during exams. I befriended them as well as this other Vietnamese kid.
Those Koreans were cool to me and we even used to joke about this fine looking Korean gal sitting across from us.
But, when the Vietnamese boy also tried to copy from them, one of the Korean boy would try to cover his paper with his hand. And, when they once saw him talking with a Korean girl during recess, they were laughing and saying something in Korean. When inside the class, I asked them what was so funny about Thinh (the Vietnamese boy), they said that he looked like a skinny monkey when talking to Yoo (the Korean girl in the other class).
And, they really got pissed when Liza (the fine Korean gal sitting across from us) was inside the car of Jo-Jo ( a Filipino gangster wannabe at our school) and French kissing with him.
It was kinda funny though when I think back of all this.

hey.... i'm corean and i'm proud to be one.... but i'm not as ignorant some of the others here.....
during the world cups.... i cheered on for corea, japan, china, and the usa.... i didnt care because ~~i live in the usa~~ so of course!!! and corea since i am corean... and japan and china because their fellow asians!!! it did not matter!!! as long as one of these teams won....
and this whole talk about corean culture invasion in taiwan and china...??? i'm sure chinese and taiwanese watch some korean dramas and listen to corean music... i hear its very popular in vietnam... but then again... in corea~~ people are in tune with taiwanese and chinese culture as well.. and vietnam and corea are becoming more close allies.. if i'm not correct... so.. of course unlike america ~~asia has so many different countries with so many different things to offer from each individual nation/culture.... every single country is going to take a little and learn a little from one another
i apologize to the other asian cultures if.. my fellow coreans are being ignorant . .. i tell you theres lots of more coreans out there more like me that appreciate what other cultures have to give....then the few who dont that are posting on here....
i would also like to say that ...just because a few of these ignorant coreans are belittling other cultures ... that you dont go around and do the same exact ignorant thing.. i mean its one thing for them to bash on ya.. but to go and do it again ..so that it keeps on going and going.???
not too smart i dont think...
in my opinion... coreans tend to get very deffensive and like to sit themselves on a pettlestool.. but i think this comes from being invaded by so many empires from all sides.. that coreans had to act this way in order to keep their culture and pride alive instead of being swollowed up by the japanese/chinese etc....... so it kind of makes sense why coreans are the way they are today but ... its about time for a change... we should start to embrace other cultures and see what they can do for us thats helpful instead of harmful
and this whole jawbone surgery thing people are asking about???? well from what i know.. its plastic surgery where they take your jawbone and kinda cut it down on the sides so it wouldnt have such a boxlike look.... and please dont go around thinking all coreans do it or something~!!!!! that would be so stupid.... we just have to admit... beauty is a big thing is media and lots of stars get plastic surgery .. like it or not i bet some of your favorite stars have even gotten something done to their face or body.....

I absolutely believe "Moon" when he says Koreans are the super race. Koreans are descendants of barbarian Mongol hordes and has the same language as world superpowers Hungary and Turkey. This is definite proof for proud Koreans that they are the super race. BTW, I am marketing "Honk if you're a proud Korean" car stickers, do you want to buy one?

"I m Chinese and most my friends are Chinese and none of them watch Korean dramas or movies."
This is true. While Korean pop culture has found popularity in China, Taiwan, and I hear it's big in countries such as Vietnam, it is not to the point where Korean pop dominates in Chinese culture. It is rather an alternative, just like how J-pop was the "craze" in the 80s and 90s. Chinese pop stars still dominate in the Chinese cultural sphere, and there is an endless stream of talented, not to mention good-looking, stars.
The China-against-Korea-during-world-cup is also not true. Most Chinese were happy to have an Asian team make it big. I would have to say that if it was the other way around, Koreans would be less happy for the Chinese team.

-A change of heart? The stigma exists from which such defamations against Coreans would spurn forth. And as we are seeing from the number of posts, this stigma applies to an appreciable demographic. Such a heinous resolve by the Taiwanese media definitely would not belie a hidden agenda. But if this should be the case, then I can only express how ashamed I am of this unabashed move to perpetuate further inter-asian spite and bickering. Of course, if anyone (Corean or not) could provide citations, even the most heavy handed would be hard pressed to renounce their condemnations of things Corean.

Something worth mentioning. When I was in highschool, the Korean girls love hanging out with us Chinese guys whenever the Korean guys aren't around. And the only non Korean friends those Korean guys are willing to hang out with are those Hip Hop Chinese and Taiwanese kids. The Koreans from my school never show any respect for other cultures and people. And they especially looked down on South East Asians and Polynesians. Of course not all of them are like that. Only the ones from S Korea who immigrated here not long ago. They were loud and rude. There was one time, a Korean ask me to stand up. He sits next to me and was usually friendly to me, so I did what he asked. He compared his height with me and then turned around teasing his other Korean friend who was about my same height. I felt a lil awkward, but I just sat down. His other Korean friend was really embarrassed and angry. They didn't talk for the next 10-15 minutes. Later, the other Korean guy pretended nothing'd happened. But after that day, I could feel them having a lil wall between them. The Chinese and Koreans didn't have any thing against each other thru-out the years in my school years. There was only one Korean kid that I really dislike. I think all this hatred started out from that stupid soccer game not too long ago. I remember having a lil crush on a Korean girl, but it went away after I met Carmen (shes Chinese). Then it was Jessica(mix Japanese German). Btw, there are two types of Korean girls. The loud type and the really monotone ones. They don't interact nor sit next to each other even if they are the only Koreans in my class. Even tho I was named the most observant student by my science teacher, I still don't get why they are like that. I suspected that the monotone ones might be from N. Korea. They got really nice skin and no make ups or dyed hair. Just plain smooth white skin and small eyes. Really different from the loud Korean girls.

They say that Koreans are the most beautiful people on earth. You have to be there in Seoul to appreciate it. Koreans normally believe Chinese are dirty and ugly and Japanese are midgets. Funny to think of that way for people from a small country.
Koreans are very proud people. In fact, Moon preaches Koreans are the super race whether you belive it or not. Proud of being Mongol descendents and belong to the language group same as Hungary and Turkey not like Indo-Chinese group. Manchurians and Mongols ruled China for a long long time in the Yuan and Ching dynasty. Manchuria was the play ground for long time Koreans if you learn a little bit of history. I believe ruling Chinese group are mostly from northern race mainly from ancient Korea and Mongolia.
It is also written in the great book of history by Ssu-ma Ch'ien, author of the Records of the Historian, that
Confucius was a man from eastern tribe, the present Korea. The historical great man of philosophy was a descendent of Koreans.
Even if you Chinese may deny it, you have blood of Mongols and northern Koreans, no point of arguing since both are related with same blood anyway.
Have you heard that they celebrate when they have a child born with Mongolian spot in his/her buttock in Japan? The Emperor family is born with those spots and they believe their child is related somehow to the emperor family.
But do you know? All Koreans are born with Mogolian spots which disappears when they become 2-3 years old. Why do they call it the Mongolian spot anyway? Obviously it must be a word invented by Chinese. That also means that the original Chinese don't have one.
This proves the Emperor family of Japan is originated from ancient Korea, which is believed by many Koreans. Koreans should know who they are..

I’m surprised that the Chinese is considered to have the most attractive physical traits, personally I think the Japanese should hold this title, as for which Asian nationality possesses the most appealing personality traits, hands down it’s the Chinese! Most of them are nice people, better then racist Korean and Japanese! The Japanese always think they are superior then other Asian which is why most Korean hates them, this endless hatred for each other is leading nowhere! Hopefully the china will become the model nation for the world one day, but they themselves got huge problems as well, like human rights, democracy and shit like that, only time will tell…

We got to admit it OK, that Koreans and many Japanese have smallest eyes compared to other Asians (even to Northern Chinese).
But, I think Korean girls look much better in their natural eye shape than to cut 2 lids on it. Chinese people are not accustomed to seeing sharper eyes in women and many actually think it is sexy.
And, not all Koreans who get the eyelid surgery done will have big eyes. I've seen some get their eyelids done but their eyes are still small. I've seen some Chinese who are single eyelid, but their eyes still look large.
Korean and Japanese shouldn't be ashamed of their natural eye shapes and the Classical Mongoloid look. It's the same as white people trying to get a tan. It doesn't look natural. People are more beautiful in their own natural form.
By the way, can any of you please inform me what is "jawbone or cheekbone grinding surgery?" I've heard of it but not sure what it really is? It sounds kinda scary...

Can you tell us why the Chinese should be jealous of Koreans? I m really dying to know. What is so special about being Korean? Am I too clueless about this new Asian image? I suspect some of you are non Asians trying to divide us and cause hatred. I know there a few KKK and other racist webrings trying to make trouble here. BTW, I m not trying to insult anyone, but just trying to inform some Koreans here that the new Korean image in America from all ethnic groups isn't a pleasant image. Maybe it would help if some of you are not too ignorant. And who is the starter of this false claim about Korean drama making it big in Asia outside of Korea? Is there a special Korean Channel I don't know about?

Even the Koreans on those boards clown on him like he so well deserves. We realize that he shouldn't be the posterboy for all Koreans, in fact he's only bringing shame to the culture. *Jealous losers that's all. I don't know why the Taiwanese are hopping mad they don't even have a national soccer team that can even beat Corea's high school champs.
LOL your still jealous that no Korean is in the NBA? Man get over it. You guys should check some of this guy's posts on the Yao board. He's like a little dog that just keeps barking, but that's all he can do is bark.
And China, NO GOALS and got blown out in every game. While every other countries in Asia celebrated Corea's achievments during the last World Cup,
Actually most Asian people in general cheered for the Korean team, it's only elitists like yourself who think you're the head honchos of the world because of that little soccer tournament.
the Chinese commie government didn't rejoice. Why?
Neither did Crew Cut Kim Jong and his nukes hahaha (Had to take that one).
Perhaps they were so embarrassed that a small country with fraction of China's population upstaged them again on the biggest international sporting tournment.
Dude get over it already, we know you guys did well in the WC. Many Non- Korean Asians cheered you on as well but I guess that doesn't really mean anything as all it did was feed your ego.
Puaha- haha, that's funny. Its like when few years ago the French were protesting American movies for the same reasons. Cultural invasion.
Dude this is pure BS. As a Chinese American who visits the mainland, Taiwan, and HK annually for family I see no cultural Korean invasion whatsoever. In fact, I can't name one single Korean celebrity overseas, Japanese maybe but not Korean. Trust me, Taiwanese and HKers watch dramas of their own. I can name dozens of Chinese celebrities whom Taiwan, HK, mainland, and Southeast Asian countries adore (And no I'm not just talking about Jackie Chan, Jet Li, or Chow Yun Fat. These guys are already household names worldwide. Well maybe not Chow but you know what I mean). There is no Korean star invasion, it's all propaganda conceived by a bunch of know-nothings.
Is that why all your compatriots are abandoning your own programs?
YAWN:::PROPAGANDA:::COUGH COUGH.
And you don't have slanted eyes Chinessse? You guys are the original poster boy for slanted eyes.
Well the Chinese are arguably the most known Asian culture. When you ask a non-Asian about the word Asian, the first thing that pops into their heads are the Chinese or Japanese so yes "Chinese Eyes" were from us:-)
Slanted eyes are often refered to as "Chinese eyes." The nerve of the Chinese troll mocking Coreans for their eyes, its like the kettle calling the pot black.
Just like it is for a Korean to call a Chinese commie or dirt-poor.
You must be one of the unemployed ugly Chinese actors who can't find work due to Corean programs. hahaha!
Repeat after me, PROPAGANDA. Korean cultural invasion is all inside your head. As for ugly Chinese actors, Kelly Kwong, Jane Chong, Peijin Zhang, Ivy Yi, are all ugly to you? Oh and one more thing, name me one Korean celebrity on status with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, or Chow Yun Fat. That's right didn't think so.

Hmm that's funny, I have a few Korean friends who I see pretty often, I sure as hell don't feel insecure when I'm around them. Where are you getting all this interesting facts?

A. I don't care about soccer and even if I did, I'd still congratulate the Korean team (You see I have class) however it's funny how you act like you took home the trophy when you did not. Oh well cheers!
B. I've also met a few Koreans who pretended to be Chinese in the states to jump on the Yao bandwagon so I guess you can say it goes both ways.
is there no end to what these insecure and silly chinese will do?
No that's not what insecure is. Being insecure is when you need to belittle other fellow Asian races to feel good about yourself. I must say you have got some low self-esteem problems.
Instead of jealousy, envy, hating on us, and making silly rumors you should all support Coreans for we will be the ones that create and new and better image of the asian man,
Such as? Yes we all need racist people like yourself who continue to feed themselves the illusion or misconception that they are better than everyone else. It's comments like those, that draw me away from other Asians. I am filipino/black, born in Manila, having a black father (My grandfather on my dads side actually fought in WWII in the philippines, thats right he was a BUFFALO SOLDIER! Bob Marley was right!) and filipina mother. When I moved to America at the age of 2 i had no knowledge of my filipino heritage, but now i know it something to be proud of, i didnt realize how beautiful filipino were, with their passion for living, and great culture. I didnt realize how beautiful the islands were and how truly blessed they were by God. How can anyone honestly say Filipinos have nothing to be proud of? I am not gonna sit here and even argue that because it would take all day. Even when i was a kid, i was never accepted by other asians (chinese, koreans you name it) but when i went to the philippines, i felt nothing but warmth and love. These people really love to accept others and make them feel at home, and they are my people! Give thanks and Praises...
