sniff sniff.. that is the most beautiful thing I heard in a long time. How I too loved spam!! How I was persecuted for loving spam! ahh..

there was a TIME article long time ago about how SPAM was very popular in Korea and was even considered a high quality somewhat delicacy.

I think spam counts as asian food, as these uncooth american barbarians have rejected what is obviously good cultured cuisine.

I believe that spam sushi is a West Coast/Hawaii phenom. I grew up with it and I love it also. People always say "Ewww Spam" but after they try it they keep coming back for more. Japanese food is by far the best. I don't care for dim sum. Too many "sweet" and "paste-like" substances.

asianlord,
I know vegan children who were raised on soy based products their entire lives. Not only are they very healthy but they are also tall. Soy based products are better for you than flesh foods.

Japanese food is very simple but, very complex at the same time.

soy is bad for you. It decreases body metabolism. It does this by decreasing the amount hormones produced by the thyroid. It can make you gain weight and may prevent you from reaching your full height. It hinders muscle growth. Do a google search for "thyroid" and "soy". thyroid.about.com

so don't go agro with soy protein, tofu, and miso soup. There are supposedly many benefits to soy. So just eat a little per month.

Skeptic AA who prefers balanced nutritional diet:

I was told (by my very authoritative spouse who is working directly in this field) that the writer for the article strongly against soy sauce and soy products is no other than a key casein spokesperson from New Zealand. As I said, they are battling hard to keep dairy products competitive because there are all sorts of problems with lactose intolerance and growth hormone fear, child hyperactivity etc.

It's funny how many people think Panda Express represent all Chinese food. I mean it's edible food, but it's more like the Taco Bell of Chinese food. I did notice that in a food court at the mall- the line was longest for Panda Express (above all the other places).

There are many who think Chinese just eat fried rice, wantons, orange or lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, mushu pork, chow mein. When in reality, many rarely eat such on a regular basis (maybe only when they go to a Panda Express Panda King or Pick Up Stix).

Viet food, particularly, southern viet food is more exotic than other asian foods. I like that it has a lot of fresh herbs, noodles, rolls, and mung bean. Most of all, it isn't soaked with fat. that's just my take on it. I love Thai food too.

I love Asian food! The spices, the white rice, the banchan, the pho...yummy! The not so great things about Asian food are the carbohydrates (from too much rice/noodles), fat (pork buns, tripe, dim sum, fried everything), and MSG.

It's funny how I was brought to think that western food was more unhealthy and fattening than asian food...I now realize that both have their share of healthy stuff and bad stuff!

Bon appetit, I think Tai-Po meant something a li'l different along the lines of his "beef kebab" lol. I hope you got that one.

Proud Chinese,

Hmmm, I think you need to elaborate on the mice study you mentioned. Did the "high soy diet" mice result in less masculine traits because it ate too much soy, or because the "high soy diet" lacked proper amounts of other nutritional ingredients necessary for proper development of male mice? (Sorry for the long sentence)
