It is obvious you are an urbanite as myself. You have no clue about butchering, which is not bad. But all animals are blanched before skinning or defeathering.

Perhaps you don't understand what American means. It means immigrants bring over their culture and mix it into the mainstream. From Hot Dog to Tacos are all ethnic foods.

Once you understand that you will be able to make the leap to see that if the newest immigrants wish to consume canine it would be un-American to deny them their rights. If you are trying to state that animals have equal or greater rights than a human, well I think you should have your head examined.

We basically enslave animals when we make them our pets. We then torture them to urinate and pass feces where we desire them to. If we are bored with the pet we send them off to adoption places. Where they are put to sleep in 30 days.
We do all this and you complain because a few Americans wish to eat them?

Please re-read my post. I wrote why many people find eating dogs disgusting. Not why anyone should not eat dogs. I also said in effect, we must understand others who eat what we consider "non-food".

My main point was that there should be laws that protect animals/livestocks from unnecessary cruelty. I have seen live cats being dumped into boiling water to soften the skin so it can be skinned alive easier. I have seen dogs being tortured to raise adrenaline in dog’s blood before being killed. Furthermore, we disagree on the food eaten in China, but again that's not the point of my posting. Another disturbing thing is that animal fights are openly and publicly held in many parts of Asia and other parts of the world.

Yes, we in the United States are not guilt free. However, we have laws and/or public out lash (pressure) to attempt minimizing such unnecessary cruelty. The question I asked was, “is it too much to ask for such laws (and public pressure)?”

Most people are unaware that pigs are number 4 on the intelligence scale - first come humans, then apes, dolphins and porkers weigh in at number 4!

i wish these stupid white people would just leave the dog issue alone. so eating dogs is sooo disgusting but killing and eating INTELLIGENT pigs is ok? im an abc myself, but i think mainstream americans are tunneled, narrow minded and ignorant.

"Chinese still eat monkey brains, cats, and rats"

Where did you get this misinformation. The myth of the monkey brains was that it was a trick played by two british expat in HK against a british journalist. They told them the holes in the tables were used to hold monkey while the knock the brains in. Actually the holes were used for chinese 'Hot Pots' a certain dish in the eaten in the winter time. Any the journalist published the story and it has been circulating as the Asian urban myth. I've walked many miles in Asia. I have yet come across a monkey stall with brain for sale yet.

Cats are consumed in a Chinese medicine dish call "Tiger Dragon soup" made from cats and snake, it increase sexual potency. But it is not a common dish.

The only rodents consumed are rabbits. Which is pretty rare as a common dish. French people like too.

Why should we outlaw any animal from the menu. Unless it is endangered of course.

We should be able to eat Bambi, Thumper, Smokey the Bear, Lassie, and whatever else tickle our fancy.

Can tuna tasted better when it pieces of dolphin in them. ^_^

If we start allowing people like you to outlaw food. Then the Jews will tells us not to eat Porky Pig and the Hindu will tell us not the eat beef.

I have a fish and a bird for pets. You should stop eating fishes, chicken, turkeys, and pheasant to appeal to my pets.....That is so stupid.

Next you'll be tell people to stop cooking your veggies because you are torturing them.

Look I went to school with some pretty highly educated hicks in from the midwest. They brought home bambi, tom the turkey, and even screwy squirrel home for dinner after their hunting trips. They were somewhat survivalist bent, and would brag to me how they like Rambo would even eat dog and tree bark if they had to.

If you are Christian read Book of Genesis. God gave man the right to do whatever we choose to do with the animals. Eating them included.
