Well, I find that this is the place to share good eye makeup tips. So here are mine. If you tried them, agree or disagree with me, post back. =)

Curl lashes: curl them at the root and then move to the tips.

Mascara: I find that although many mascaras do lengthen and thicken, they do not curl up or stay, so no one can see it! Then what's the point? So I use Maybelline WonderCurl Mascara (waterproof) and it curls great and stays! With that as a base, I usually add another mascara, to thicken. I used many: Loreal Voluminous, Curly, Maybelline Full 'N' Soft, etc. The new Revlon High Dimention Mascara has tiny crystals and reflects in there. Has anyone else tried it? It's soft and sparkly, but for some reason it kind of gets the curl out of the previous coat.

Also, does anyone else also coats their bottom lashes as well? I use Full 'n' Soft and they are better than the supposedly "mini brushes" made especially for bottom lashes, like Loreal So~Lo Mascara.

Eyeliner: Gently line top and bottom lid, and then smudge. DON't OVERDO!

Eyeshadow: I find lilacs, browns, and pinks flattering. So just swipe a red colored shadow over lid. Add glitter or sparkles for fun! [I don't know if it'd be flattering for older people, but it's fun for teens.]

hi guys,

i just came across this web site, and it's great. i live in hongkong right now (though i used to live in uk), so needless to say, there r millions of asian girls around me.
instead of wearing too heavy/dark eye make-up, people here wear too much pastel colour, they r really flattering when lightly applied, but not in blocks of baby blue or pink or lilac, teamed up with too pale foundation.
creases, you can get some sticky tape sort of thing here, stick in to the lid and u'll have double crease, so quite handy.
i don't use that much eye makeup since it's so hot and humid here, everything melts. but i quite like the calvin klein eye colour wash, all the colours r really nice, it's a gel like formula, very easy to apply

Personally I think double creases are stupid. If you have them then you have them...don't dwell on the prospect of "Oh my God! What do I do?! I have single lids!!! I'm UGLYYY!" No no no....thats just going toooo far. What the ?! Why are most asian girls so into how they LOOK? Be yourself. All my girls love fashion....but they don't obsess over how they appear in public. Worrying over every tiny detail in your makeup routine only makes yourself feel better. Nobody else ever notices except for you. Take my advice girlz, i'm the hottest asian here and my routine is.....moisturizer, light pastel shadows and mascara. Who the hell cares about concealer and foundation?! It just serves to be detrimental to your skin anyways! Payce

Most of things mentioned, when used in moderation can look good. I think a little bit of color, especially now, when it's very in vogue is attractive. Also, well placed falsies can always enhance one's look for a special night out.

how are you supposed to apply eyeliner when you have no eyelid folds?

Well i have double lids. i dunt really think its a big deal and when i do put eye shadow noone notices, so dere is no use for me to put eye shadow.

i have these creased, welly creased eyes that you could tell and they are pretty nice but they don't stay in place and it gets me really frustrated and makes me feel superficial.....sometimes it gets into a little crease in the corner that bugs me alot and makes me even put on eyemakeup which i usually don't
what do i do?

i realized that specific nationalities of girls wear too much makeup..maybe it's just me, but vietnamese, phillipinos, laos, thais go overboard. like drawing their eyebrows(completely fake), black lipliner and ALOT of caked on makeup..some chinese/korean/japs too, but mostly if of those nationalities that I mentioned.

young abc girly-
the same thing happened to me! my father and my mother (hers are fake) have double lidded eyes. i had them when i was an infant up til i was about two or three, then they faded. they came back when i was 14. i do feel more attractive-not in ANY way because it seems more 'white' but because i looked better w/ them. now i see so many beautiful ppl who have single-lidded eyes, and i felt ashamed at how i felt about myself before.

oh my god, I use the wet q-tip too! it really helps to define excess and you can even use it to smudge to make it a smoldery look. i've never tried really dramatic dark eyes though...is that good for asian eyes? i have a kind of a double eye-lid thing going on too...

My trick for eye shadow is to put a little bit of light shadow in the corner of your eyelids to brighten up your eyes.

Mary Kay has great quality products at a very reasonable price. They have some great new colors that seem to work very well with my skin color.

okay, i've tried almost EVERYTHING out there for eye make-up. i've got a small crease, so my eyes are kind of in between, in terms of the hooded lid thing. what i've found works best is revlon colorstay liquid eyeliner in brown-black, just thinly drawn along the lashline. i'll go back over my lashes with a wet q-tip after to remove any excess. then i apply loreal mascara--a thickening formula (i've used that 2000 calorie one by max factor, but i find that it's rather cakey-fakey, clumpy-glumpy, so i recommend avoiding that stuff) and then, even though i know this is totally against the rules, i curl my lashes AFTER the mascara dries. it helps to heat the curler a little with a hair-dryer first. i've found this gives you a pretty nice curl; i rarely lose lashes this way. it is important that you get a good curler though because you want to make sure you're not getting a "crimped" line along your lashes (i.e. right angle eyelashes). as i've gotten older (25 y.o. now), i've realized less is really more. girls often make the mistake of just using too much makeup, and the effect is obvious and gross.

yeah, eyelids do change. Mine use to bother me because they would oscillate back and forth. Finally, both of them were in synch.

Hey hey.
Last summer, when i was 14, something strange happened to my eyes. All my life i've had single eyelid, something that many Asian woman would call "unattractive". I was conscious of this fact, ever since I was young and having a mother with large double-lidded eyes. Mine were so plain in comparison to hers. You see, she was a very vain woman when I was young. She was a very pretty woman and she knew it- Large round eyes, perfect narrow nose, and refined chiseled face. I had almost none of those features
Then, one day, i started noticing small lines of creases on my upper eyelid. I realized that my eyes were undergoing some kind of transformation. As foolish as it may sounds ~ I was recieving my double-eyelid!
I don't know if this sort of thing happens to everyone. In the past I've disliked my eyes because they were "unattractive" and I never looked good in eye make-up, no matter what. THen, i learned that even with double-eyelid, eye make-up didn't look much different. In high school, i started noticing other asian girls with single eyelids, wearing make-up that looked great on them and flattered their features. This is when I realized that all my life, what I wanted wasn't double-eyelid, but to be my mother's perception of ideal, beauty-wise.
Never let other people dictate what you should be...

eurasiangirl, you do almost the same steps I do, except for the waterproof mascara: I prefer it, since it doesn't seem to flake off as much.

i'm addicted to MAC black cake eyeliner ($12- best investment ever, considering it has lasted for two years so far, with a few more to go! it doesn't go bad cause you can just scrape of layers when you get worried about the top layer getting grungy), applied with Sephora's eyeliner brush which is cheap ($6)and has bristles with just the right stiffness. it doesn't smudge and you can apply it dry or wet. I prefer wet cause it lasts longer and you can draw a cleaner line with it. I like applying it to the outer 1/4 of my lid, extending the line out an 1/8th of an inch past the outer corner of my eye. my sis, who has single eyelids seems to have smudgy eyeliner no matter what she uses. So maybe the problem of smudgy/traveling eyemakeup is due to the physical structure of your eye and how it rubs into the makeup, not the makeup itself. (just an observation) Oh yeah. on natural days, I LOVE just curling my eyelashes (I swear by Maybelline's eyelashcurler. classic metal one with easy to come by replacement pads... cheap- only $5 and $3 for replacement pads) and adding a few coats of black mascara, declumping after with tweezerman's ilash comb ($5.50-for all u fellow NYCers get it at Cosmetics Plus), which is the absolute best lash comb ever. It's small and works great-- folds up and is truly a precision tool. Not for use in transit tho, since the teeth of the comb are really damn sharp. I swear by the declumping step tho, because it looks much more natural. just keep combing between layers and actually, you can put on many layers of mascara whilst maintaining the integrity of the natural look with this comb! I prefer to use Lash Out by L'oreal in black for non-waterproof days-- it gives you a natural long lashed look. For waterproof days, I use Featherlash by L'oreal in black waterproof. Those are my favorites. Has anyone else noticed the waxy look of waterproof mascaras? They look kinda 'dirty' compared to the non-waterproof kinds I think. :o)
