You're welcome, Chinese Canadian girl.
I hope you didn't spill too much of that powder when opening it - I sure made a mess on my floor.

Mia,
MAC stands for Makeup Artist Cosmetics and is a line manufactured in Canada. I know that this line is available in Australia and usually at department stores. MAC was created as a professional line and has the most foundation shades of any cosmetic line I've ever seen. Their shades are divided into warm, cool, neutral warm and neutral cool. Most Asians have warm undertones, but the yellower colours in MAC foundations may not be yellow enough for some.

Thanks for the tip on T.Leclerc powder. I bought the banane loose powder too, and though the price is steep at $32 (that's when it's 1/2 price!), I am glad I bought it. That's the best powder I've ever purchased.

Hello all, how are you?
I read somewhere in this page that apply powder w/ powder brush will make skin looks more even . I had tried that and it really does gives that nice satin finish.
As I said it is hard to find the right foundation (here in NEW Zealand so at the moment I just use press powder in "MEDIUM" shade, apply w/powder brush (I know it's sound odd!!) but it does tone down the white shade really well .
Thanks for the tips again.
Bye the way I hear alot of lady mention MAC foundation and is this short for MAX FACTOR? Please reply.

To Asian girl with medium skin tone,
I would suggest that you go for a powder bronzer - it's a look that is great for the summer. Just use it like you would use regular powder blush. There are lots of brands who have one - drugstore ones include Wet N Wild and Rimmel (A Walmart brand). More expensive ones are the MAC bronzer and most other department store brands would have one too. Other colours that would work for you too are peach or brown in colour - Maybelline has a peach blush and Strada from MAC is another good one. I also recommend Topeka blush from Cargo.

I am an Asian girl w/medium skin tone and like to know from you guys what color shade of blusher u use and why it is work best for you?

My dad is a fair skin Arabian man and my mum is a Thai. I have a colored cheek but I like it, I get a lot of compliments on that as well.

What color could tone the color down on my cheek to make it look cooler but not too pale. Please name the product??...

Shu Uemura is great. They have pink and yellow tones for asian skin. It's is a Japanese brand but unklike Shiseido, it's geared toward more of a yellow/beige tone. If you live in the Irvine area, You can find Shu Uemura products at Purescape in Irvine Spectrum.

I would say it hard to get good foundation that really suite asian skin in Euroupean drugstore. It is neither too white or too dark.

I recently purchased a foundation call "Lustrous" whitening cake powder.
In winter my skin become very light so this work well for my skin.
But in Summer I don't use foundation at all.

There is yet a drugstore brand foundation that doesn't look white, pink or grey on me.

If you do not have oily skin Bobbi Brown has good colours with yellow tones. Trish McEvoy has a stick foundation with less oil in good colour for darker skin.

The Bay is clearing out it's T. Leclerc products at half price. This is a great time to try their products. I bought the banane loose powder and I'm glad I waited till now.

I think MAC full coverage foundation is pretty good except that it sometimes cakes up when it gets too cold.

Also, I was wondering if I need to wash my makeup off before I do any strenuous activity where i sweat a lot? I'm taking a martial arts class and I go to the gym straight from my college. I usually just pull on my gear without taking my makeup off. Os that ok? Hope someone can help =)

Foundation needs to go on the skin effortlessly with minimal blending to create a perfect second skin that hides flaws, protects skin from sun damage, keeps powder on, and provides specific coverage like matte, soft, sheer, etc to give skin the healthy appearance it deserves. Furthermore, it should never dehydrate or creep into the pores and fine lines. I use Laneige and highly recommend it. It has all the above functions and it's got the perfect match of colours for Asian yellow tone. Laneige foundation is never thick althought it gives medium to high coverage to cover those unsightly scars and freckles.

The prescriptives Photochrome is a light cream formula, not a powder. I bought a foundation brush from the guy at the counter (that is what he used to apply it) and it works great. the brush is a little pricey, but it is smmoth so it wont damage your skin and it applies the photochrome evenly. The photochrome comes with a sponge, but it's useless, I only use the brush. Hope that helps.

Foundations found in drugstores tend to all have pink undertones, which look the worst on Asian skin.

my holy grail search for the perfect foundation for asian skin is finally over-- it is T. Leclerc liquid foundation beige and ambre -- this is the most awesome and natural looking foundation ever, take it from me I have tried everything from chanel, lancome, estee to shiseido as well as most of the boutique brands and THIS IS IT!!!!!

the beige is a perfect yellow based foundation & ambre has a slight rosy tint (not pink)that is absolutly beautiful on the skin (would look good with a day old tan) I use this with T.leclerc powders in banane & camelia.

You can find distributors in the states on the web by using your search engine. Give it a try u won't regret it and let us know how u like it

has anyone tried the oil of olay age defying line? I tried the store tester on my hand it felt like it had a great texture, but I didn't see any colours that I liked, so rather than go for a close-ish colour and waste 20 bucks, I thought I'd just ask.

also, someone recommended prescriptives - does this feel light textured? it sounds like it might be kind of good. what's a foundation brush? is this foundation a powder?

Prescriptives Lux is pretty good.

Estee Lauder's makeup is good only if your skin is really white. Does not work well at all if you have yellow tones..

I use MAC Studio Fix powder in C3. It's the best powder I've owned; it's also very smooth and has a good texture. For foundation, I use this sheer make-up (more like tinted moisturizer) from Clinique in Light.

shiseido sucks because it is too pink for my yellow skin, yes, shiseido is a japanese cosmetics company but the products for the usa market don't work well for asians since shiseido are marketing toward whites.

I've found the perfect color from MAC for my skintone. If "back woods" is willing to experiment, try ordering something from MAC's Web site. I use C30 Studio Fix Pressed Powder Foundation.

I use different ones and mix my own color.

Estee bothers my eyes - sensitive to the high spf. Can't go higher than an 8. Wish we had an asian counter here in the backwood of Eastern WA State so my search continues. Tried Shiseido - too pink; Ultima - too pink; otc various kinds - too orange or pink; Have not seen MAC, Bobby Brown or Prescriptives here. Would be willing to try anything so I don't have to mix.
Need help in the back woods

Prescriptives Photocrome (applied w/a foundation brush) is the best. I've tried everything, from OTC Revlon to expensive ones. Try Photochrome, you won't be disappointed! It's light, smooth, and doesn't wear off.

It is finally getting easier for Asian women to find foundation in North America. A lot of the boutique lines such as Bobby Brown and MAC have yellow-based foundations. Lines from Asia are also now easier to find (Laneige et al.). There is an Asian-american line called Zhen than can be foundin department stores. Some drugstore lines also have yellow shades in their foundations. It is still try to find the right foundation as some of those yellow-based colours can look too beige, orangey or peachy.

I find that MAC has the best match for Asian women. I've tried a lot of brands and this has worked the best for me.

For most women foundation is protection for your most visible skin. Quality foundation keeps it moisturized, protects against the sun as well as help you hide blemishes. Think of it as skin cream. That's where the quality brands are better.

always hard to find the right foundation. i heard mac is pretty good but i have not tried it.

blend well at the edges and you can get away with most shades. the right shade is variable. it depends on lighting and the colors you are wearing as well as your natural skin tone. key is experiment, experiment, experiment! and use a vanity with adjustable lighting.

Maven Cosmetics is developing the best foundations for Asian coloring! I've tried some of their pre-sale samples (they launch at the end of this summer) and will be a loyal customer when they start distributing. Finally!
