dark circle girl:
I've tried a few concealers and have found cream concealer blended well with a finger tip works best, ESPECIALLY on dry-to-normal skin (like my own). I am not too crazy about those pencil or stick formulas. As a former model in HS and the first year of college, I was a model who partied late so I have a lot of experience with different concealers. (just so my advice sounds more credible!) Cream works because it moisturizes. I really like Clinique's soft-correct concealer in fair because 1. it lasts all day. honestly. until you wash it off with soap. 2. it covers up and moisturizes, unlike oil-free stuff, which tends to look powdery and flake off your skin. Oil-based products bind to skin better over the course of a day because your skin secretes oil, not water. There is a big difference in wear of oil-free and oil-based concealers. That's what I've found to be true for me, anyway. Also, if you are covering acne, rub in a dab of a GEL formula (like Origins Spot remover, not the Clearasil type that leaves a powdery white residue) medication to the blemish and let dry before patting on the concealer. Rub the concealer into your finger, so that you don't get globs of concealer on your trouble spot. Then firmly tap the finger onto the spot, and blenc till your happy. Add more layers if necessary. Finish with powder over your whole face to balance the face.
A note on the skinlights products-- they are sort of shimmery so they might end up casting a light onto the part that you are trying to conceal. And those products tend to be lighter in texture so I doubt it will last all day. I was considering buying one of those concealers, but their color selection is not very wide, so I didn't get it. If you go to a counter, at least you can test it out before you buy.

good point, I totally agree. Nothing is superior to great skin for your appearance. For normal daily life, I used to put a tiny bit of foundation on, but I think that since I'm young and have nice skin I should let it be. I'll deal with the gunk later when my freckles get dark and I'm too old to be cute with little cheek freckles. :o) But, what is a great "extra" is a thin layer of pressed powder, applied with a puff, all over the face to absorb excess oil during the day. I spray a fine mist of Burts Bees Chamomile Complexion Mist right after to get rid of the dreaded "pancake face look" that I see happen to unknowing victims with all-over powder. It is my new favorite routine for face makeup. I follow up with a sheer, slightly shimmery peachy-pink-gold cream blush and it creates a very natural, glowing complexion. You girls out there who have flawless skin should try this-- it really looks great and polished.

You guys gotta try Bare Escentuals. A great line of foundation. It is in a powder mineral form and very error proof. I tried the light color and I love it. Well worth it. Dont waste your money on all those other brands. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Just tried out Revlon Skinlights cheek/eye color lighting for myself. It's awesome!! Very glowing and natural! Now I'm trying to get the lipglosses but can't seem to find them. Have they been sold out??? It just feels like yesterday when I saw them advertised.

I don't believe in foundation or concealer anymore. If you should do anything, it's just take care of your skin. Pamper it. Buy the best skin care that you can afford, splurge even. Foundation is a waste of money.

If a facial cleanser stings your eyes and drys out your skin, it has to go, period.

The best makeup brand that I have tried so far is Zhen cosmetics. It's made specifically for Asian women, so it doesn't make your skin turn out pink, which is usually what happens with the major brands. The foundations and concealers are yellow based so it looks really natural. Plus it's pretty cheap and affordable, ranging in the $10 area. So check out Zhen cosmetics. I forgot their website address, but just look it up on a search engine.

My face gets pretty pale in the winter so I use Physicians Formula concealer, CG pressed powder, and Revlon Skinlights in Golden Light. That bronzing stick can add a warm tone and nice iridescent look.
