WHAT YOU SAY

hi bebe,
actually, orange makeup kind of works when your skin is/gets darker. It sort of counters any greenish or ashiness in your skin tone. You should just be careful not to apply too much or it actually LOOKs orange. If it is applied very sheerly, it looks pretty good. If your skin is pale, yellow based powder (T.LeClerc) looks really good. It completely blends away, is invisible, and makes your skin look very fine (fine-pores, as well as "fiiiiine" --heheh).

to helpmynose:
try using the drugstore pore strips. biore, ponds, and others have them. they r strips u leave on 4 a while and then pull off along w/ blackheads and gunk in ur pores! i reccommed it. u can actually see ur blackheads on thr strip after u pull it off. also leave it on for longer than they tell u to. wait until it completely dries and pull it off roughly. i use ponds n it's great, altho u need to do it once a week if u have alot. they don't prevent blackheads. they jst remove them. hope i helped!

to Shyla:
if you are very pale, you could try revlon's foundation colour "buff" in the color-stay line. It has a slightly creamy-yellow undertone. I liked this colour when I was lighter (before I went on a vacation and got a bit of a tan).
This foundation is very opaque, and lasts very well, but you must blend very carefully since it is hard to move once it "sets". You can extend the drying time if you apply it after you put on a sunscreen, while the sunscreen is still a little moist.
If you don't like this line because of its heaviness, you might like their "new complexion" line. New Complexion is pretty light textured, but it doesn't cover that well. It suits your skin if you just look a little blah, but don't really need to cover any real imperfections or freckles. I use the cream to powder version of this in the summer in Honey Beige.
I also like MAC liquid satin foundation in C3, but I have heard that they have changed the formula and that it is now more orangy. (I still have my old bottle and it hasn't gone smelly yet, so it still works for me)

I find it so hard to find a foundation that covers but also gives a smooth finish. Having asian skin also means I have to spend more on beauty products becuase most firms who do sell foundation for asian skin tends to be the ones with high prices. Matching the colour is also another problem as I always look orange and that isn't my natural colour.

one more tip for egirl w dark neck:
you could use some oil free sunscreen on your neck --I like the one made by Vichy. It's an oil free "creme gel" in spf 15. the texture is great!

egirl -
you could try some self tanner on your face, and legs. I think that Neutrogena self tanner is pretty good in its resulting colour, but the smell is very chemical. I've only tried the clear spray and because it's colourless, it's a little difficult to figure out where you've applied it. so I think that this would be better left to just your legs. I've also tried the Bain de Soleil self tanner which has been tinted so you can tell where you've applied it, and the smell is less offensive, but it still has an unpleasant odour. The resulting colour is nice too. Coppertone has a new (well last year) one out as well that is called "endless summer" which is supposed to be not horrible smelling but since I had already spent enough on this stuff last year, I didn't yet try it. It is supposed to be citrus scented, and it comes in some kind of special packaging where it has 2 ingredients that mix together when it comes out of the applicator. I haven't tried this yet, but I might do some testing this year.
also, you can try putting a heavier sunscreen on your neck to try to keep it from tanning more than your face. I believe that you tan more in your oilier areas of your body. (Usually, my face is a lot darker than the rest of my body, and my lower legs are the lightest. My forehead is darker than the rest of my face, and I think it is because it's oilier than the rest)
