I am Asian with slightly wavy auburn (it became auburn and continues to get lighter probably because of the chlorine in the water) hair and I enjoy my auburn hair because it looks nice with black tops. These 2 things are what I learned to keep my hair shiny and free from dandruff. To avoid split ends, comb hair often, especially during windy days. Do not leave hair tangled. (Maybe tie hair behind you during windy days.) To avoid dandruff, rinse hair well after shampooing. For some women, everyday washing is necessary to remove excess oil. [But do not get caught up with personal beauty, because that would just drive you nuts.]

I wonder why I look MUCH much better with dyed hair( it is streaked reddish brownish) than black hair. My friends can't even see my in black hair....

I think the best thing for your hair is what looks best according to what color your skin is, the texture of your hair and how much time you're willing to put into your beauty routine. Everyone's different!

I was born with dark brown hair(which I like) and always wore it long. Then I experimented and dyed it dark red and later cut it chin length. I found that all the guys liked it better long and red. The only compliments I got on my short hair came from girls being polite and said it was "cute". But when it was long they always told me that they envied it and were trying to grow theirs out too. I think it's much more sensual when Asians leave their hair long and flowing.

This is for Anthony the photographer: Maybe that's just YOUR opinion about short hair being suitable for older women and "those who aren't in touch with their feminity." I'm a 21 year-old Asian woman with short hair. My hair naturally wavy, thick, shiny and black. Not ALL Asian women look good with long flowing hair.

I really think that the best hair on Asians are the one that suits their skin colour and face shape. I mean who really cares if u dye your hair a certain colour! My hair is brown right now but tomorrow i might dye it red - i mean it's all just fun!

AGHHHH!! I am asian.... i am chinese to be more specific. Do I not have "asian hair?" I don't know what genetics to cause me to have NATURALLY CURLY hair!! I am 100% chinese, and I have really curly long hair. I don't know anyone else who is asian who have naturally curly hair! When I read all these other polls, "asian hair" seems to be only long, thick, shiny, and STRAIGHT. Do I not have asian hair? I am pure asian! I always wondered about this dilemma.... Where did I get my curliness from?

And oh yeah, to actually comment on asian hair--- I think its alright to have your hair highlighted or dyed... as long if it doesn't look downright WEIRD on you. I mean, I don't care what you do to your hair.... do whatever you feel like it... but I have seen some asians with really light brown dyed hair, and let me tell you that it looks fake, and ugly. BUT if it looks natural on you, go ahead.... but I like the the natural look. I agree with alot of these people--- not all asians look good in a lighter hair color....

I think black Asian hair is the most beautiful hair. Yet I hate it that it has become a stereotype of us. I've managed to keep my black silky hair in its natural state, but I've also been a advent self-dyer since the 7th grade.

My hairs like straight, heavy, thick, flat, can't do anything with it, and if I do it takes like 45-1 1'2 hour to do something with it! what a pain! isn't there an easier way?

I'm Asian. I used to hate my hair until I figured out the best hair care routine. Rinse thoroughly before shampooing (I use KMS Healthy Alternative EveryDay Shampoo), rinse thoroughly again to get the shampoo out, leave conditioner on as long as possible (3 to 5 minutes) (I use KMS Silker conditioner), and rinse thoroughly or until hair becomes just slightly squeaky. Every third day, I use Paul Mitchell Shampoo One as a clarifying shampoo to get rid of buildup. If hair ends up too dry after blow drying, use only a dime size or smaller amount of leave in conditioner. Rub both hands with it and then work it into hair. I don't use any other hair care products (gels, mousse, etc.) I have good hair days nearly everyday.
Asian woman with great hair

I agree that asians' natural black or medium brown hair are beautiful but not all asian females look good with it. Im a 20 yr. old asian female and dye my hair lighter brown to match my light skin tone, and it looks great. I would leave my hair medium brown (natural hair color), or even dye my hair black if only I looked good with it but no thanks I don't wanna walk around looking like a witch or as if I belong in the Adam's family.

I don't see anything wrong with asians coloring their hair lighter. I love my natural medium brown hair but it doesn'tlook the best with my skin tone so that is the reason why I dye mine lighter brown. I get lots of compliments from other races including a few asians about my hair color but I am so sick of people who say that asians who color their hair or highlight them are trying to be caucasian. For you asians out there, who get so offended by other asian girls changing their hair color, mind your own damn hair, nobody is messing with you guys hair so please shut up and get a life!
PROUD ASIAN WOMAN

I have naturally brown, thick, shiny long hair and have always wondered what I'd look like with "traditional asian" hair- long and black. So I dyed it black and I regret it. I am convinced that everyone is born with their natural color because it just looks right! Although, if you want to make a statement, dyeing is fun. But it doesn't really look natural or beautiful.

Asian hair is soooooooooooo thick and black. whenever i get bored with it i can't color it. the color never comes out.

I just love my black long hair. I just hate how just about almost every asian girl has their hair highlighted/dyed the same...its just so boring!

I envy Asian females who have that chic thick full straight black hair. It looks beautiful long, short, highlighted. I'm Chinese American and my hair is fine, limp and brownish-orange. To top it all off, the hair just above my temples are naturally red . Does anyone have this problem?

Wow... some of ya'll asian women are given other asians a bad name with your stank attitude... talking 'bout i'm fly and you're ugly. Asian women need to be stickin together in these days, not dissin each other.

I don't think Asians should die their hair blond, it's just too much.

Hard to find products. I have to drive 45 minutes to find someone that knows how to cut Asian hair!

I love my plain and simple FOB haircut. It's the best. It keeps my head warm. I think the FOB hair style will make a comeback.

ANOTHER ASIAN FEMALE: Attention. WHat the hell are u talking about? Thats ur opinion!......I think that coloring your hair, blonde is tight. I mean, you must look ugly, coz' you saying that means you look ugly with blonde hair, i pity u for u don't appreciate blonde hair, sorry babay your history!

I got spunk! Asian LAdy

Asian hair is the best in the world! I'm a Filipina and my hair is layered, it's jet black (I never colored it, and never will!). I get compliments all the time. So if you have jet black, shiny, smooth and bouncy Asian hair, take very good care of it and enjoy the compliments! Mabuhay!

I'm a photographer in the Midwest ; I've used AA models with butt-length to ankle-length hair. I won't use women who have dyed or permed their hair. I feel that an Asian woman with flowing, swaying hair below her bottom is the epitome of natural beauty. Frankly, short hair is suitable mostly for older women and those who aren't in touch with their feminity.

Hi thanks for your opinion. I look okay in Blonde though. I don't regret it. I have pale/rosy/pink skin and I am proud of it. We are not the only ones with dark, black hair. It doesn't have to look natural; lots of people of other races dye their hair blonde, too. People bleach their eyebrows, draw in, etc.
