Volumeless in San Francisco-
Yes, girlfriend, I have that same problem: not enough lift and volume at the roots of my hair. I've found the trick that works for me is to comb my hair sort of the way I would want it to look at the front, then hold my head back so that I'm staring at the ceiling. Then apply hair spray on the roots of my hair at the hairline- but don't put on too much spray- you have to be careful. When you put your head back down, you'll be suprised to see you have some lift in the front for a change, and it looks natural. May take some practice to perfect this trick.
Also, for lift at the crown, use about two or three large Velcro rollers at the crown of your head on dampish hair, then blowdry until dry. Take out the rollers and apply hairspray. A little backcombing may help. Takes practice to backcomb (or "rat") your hair. But it's worth it.

What a cliche, Asians having long hair! This is the 21st century. For goodness sake, snap out of it! Yeah, long hair suits some Asians. But not everyone.
I have shoulder length hair and a friend of mine has short hair, very short! She looks fabulous and so do I!

I have a question...I'm an Asian-American chica with straight, longish (underarm length) shiny dark brown hair that i (admittedly) really like, except for one thing...its completely lacking in volume, especially on top. Does anyone have any tips--either blowdrying or hairstyle tips-- that can help my hopelessly limp tresses?

I have naturally very thick and wavy hair. I ALWAYS have to blow-dry my hair every time I wash my hair...it takes up so much time. But if I leave my hair to air-dry, it's out-of-control and really ugly. I don't know how some people's waves are so nice and perfect and mine aren't. There has to be an easier way to deal with my hair...I mean is there any way for thick wavy hair to look good without blowdrying it straight?

Toyjetz,
I am curious to know what kind of reactions you've gotten from white and Asian males. Do tell all...

I have long black hair that I have dyed/bleached blonde. It's awesome! I I don't see what the HOOdah is. Have some personality. I figure I can always dye it a different colour, but can't fix a bad hair cut so I dye it all the time. The kewl thing about going lighter is that you can always go back darker anytime-even if it's a temporary dye. Black hair is beautiful, but don't be afraid to try something new. "Geez!"

i think asian hair rocks

Hi ..
I love my hair layered .. but I have this natural part in the middle of my head .. I wish I could change it because I think it would look nicer parted to the side .. any advice? thanx :)

I like my hair long. I don't go to a stylist, and it still takes me less than five minutes per day to care for my hair, which is now to my thighs.

Someone asked in an earlier post if there were any Asian women who had long, straight hair and love it. My hair reaches the bottom of my back, and I love it. It's not high-maintenance--I let it air dry and it falls perfectly into place every day. Everybody always tells me how pretty it is, and not to cut it. So every time I'm tempted to cut it, I think of how much I would miss it, and how long it took me to grow out. =) Anyhow, I don't think there is a certain length or style that Asians look best in. It really is a personal decision, you should just have a style that reflects your personality and lifestyle.

The idiot who commented that Asians look bad in brown hair , is ignorant.. there are people like myself who have wavy BROWN hair naturally (no im not mixed-japanese/american ) and are beautiful! Similar to the fact that asians can have light brown eyes , (yes i have amber eyes too )
Basically, you have to be an idiot to think that all asians are short, have straight black hair , and dark brown eyes !!! And yes , we do not all speak chinese and ride in rickshaws

Hi all,
Help !! I can not use gel or any hair styling product.
Sometime I get rashes on my face and my skin would react badly to hair products, so it is important for me to take care of my hair and keep it clean and manageble.
am just wondering if anyone have any tips on how to give hair deep condition and keep hair soft ? :)
That would be lovely, Thanx!!
Mia
I am half Asian and half Europian, so therefore my hair is naturally dark brown, fine, and very, very straight. I strive to create a very volumized hair style and cut to suit my look, but my hair is so straight!!! Any suggestions?

Dear Anna,
There is a trick to blow-drying without doing more damage to your hair. Towl your hair to take access water out than apply leave-on conditioner genourously trough your hair start blow dry your hair w/ high heat and never hold blow dryer to close to your hair and always hold it downward . After 5 min change the heat to medium heat and comb your hair downward w/ blow dryer , just before your hair compleatly dry stop because it is not good to blow dry damage hair .
Always best to give your hair a cool air shoot to hold the style (always downward) and Apply condtioner serum to root only.
Choose the right shampoo and conditoner FOR your hair type also VERY important too .

One thing I hate is that if I were to let my hair air dry, it just doesn't look good. All nappy. The only way to make my hair look decent is to blow dry it EVERY single time I dry my hair. There HAS to be a better way without perming my hair straight. Can anyone give me advice? I have slightly curly hair for some reason, I didn't when I was younger but after bleaching and dying my hair so much, the condition of it has never been the same. Those chemicals rubbed into your scalp must not be good for the long term healthiness of your hair.

I totally agree with Tara Lee, you go girl!! Asians can wear their hair any way, any color, whatever their preference. Silly for some people, especially those of the same race, telling us we should wear our hair a certain way. Hello it is not the 11th
century, it's year 2001.
p.s. that big hairy white guy probably wanted your number and knew he had no chance, so he acted mean towards you. Dork!!!

Have any of you try those crazy clip-on color hair extension you can get in blonde streak, brown, red streak etc?. Easy change and fun way to have color hair streak without you having to do any damage to your hair.
Great for you girls who get bored of their hair style :)***
Very creative don't you think, I know I'll get myself one for sure.
