WHAT YOU SAY

hi diana --

I was thinking about trying a different hair colour too, and it is really hard to get yourself close enough to those little mini pony tail hair samples to figure out if it would look good on you.

I just thought of this -- try to find some satin in the colour of your hair colour choice and bring it up close to your face. If it makes your skin look ugly, then dying your hair that colour would probably be a bad choice.

e.g. colours like champagne/oatmeal/or other light browny blondy colour --really look pretty bad next to my skin. also, blue-black looks very wiggy! I think the best colours on me are dark ash brown and other browns with very little red in it. No burgundy or red tones for me! My complexion is already quite ruddy.

I'd like to change my look but have not been able to find hair catalogs with many Asian/Asian-American models to help. When I show my stylist photos of caucasion models the cut never turns out the way it is in the photo!! Frustrating!

Because there are so few asian women in the US media, I really have no idea how to do my hair other than the typical long cut or short cut. I want to know what hair dyes would look good on my naturally dark brown hair, what different cuts I can use for my face. BUT MAINLY, I just want to try hair colors other than black and red and purple-ish. I want to know if light brown would look good too, or even a blonde-ish color. I feel so limited by the media's depiction (or lack thereof) of Asian chicks.

My hair stylist who is Korean and a lovely girl cannot understand why I want to have my hair the way Mother Nature intended - dark brown with a bit of wave. She insists on putting a colour rinse through it, or foils for highlights. Then she will torture it until it is straight and smooth. I will see this stranger looking at me in the mirror with unnaturally straight hair in a orangey halo. I wish I could cut and style my own hair.

hey all you hair loving people, I am a korean -american cosmetologist and maybe I can give out some professional tips on some products and color tips. I have gone through long hair, short hair, highlighted hair, colred it red, blonde, and permed it! I have done all that there is to do on hair. I have used many products and definitely can give out some advices!!! it is definitely fun to have long natural black shiny hair, but how boring!!I think asian hair is the most versatile head of hair out there. We can do so much to it because we have the most healthy hair also. When it is cut right we look downright smashing and our hair can go through the abusing to a certain extent with the help of really good products.
If your hair is damaged from too many chemical treatments and want to restore it try Redken extreme and follow the directions. Our hair tends to be dried out even more when we do colors. Redken extreme helps your hair by putting the protein back into your hair by repairing it.follow the treatment with their shampoos and conditioners. guarantee your hair will feel different. If you do not do any chemical treatments to your hair try some biologe moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. For those of you who are coloring your hair from brown to black make sue you recondition your hair for two weeks until you hair feels better. sometimes when your hair is colored too frequently, your hair can get very damaged and the colors that you do won't hold as well. always recondition to restore your hair to it's healthy state before coloring. Another reason why your hair color washes off so easily is because you could be grabbing semi-permanent color versus permanent color. Permanent color is permanent. It stays as long as you want until you cut it off. Semi-permanent colors are designed to wash out in few months. For people who like to chage your hair color alot always use semi-permanent color. that way it can wash off and you can try another color. for volume, use a blow dryer and round brush if you know how to use the brush without getting it tangled HAHA...but try some volumizing gels from a professional salon. It makes a huge difference!!!
