WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
I see many many asian women with blonde hair and I've never seen one that it actually looked good on. It always comes out kind of an over-dyed, fried, orangey color, never a true blonde. It just looks very fake, and often doesn't match their skin tone. I just don't think it looks right, and I have to agree with chicky poo, even if you're not trying to look white, it looks like you are.

I know it can be awkward trying on wigs, but the key is to make sure your hair is smoothed back and held by either a ponytail or barrettes to keep hair flat as much as possible so trying on wigs won't be too difficult. So before you stop by wig shop, slick your hair back, preferably when it's slightly damp, and try on wigs. Another option is to wear a swimming or pantyhose cap before putting on wigs. Make sure the wig fits securely. I know it's weird to do this but it's good way to get your hair out of the way. After you're done, go to any bathroom and style your hair the usual way.
Asian girls with blonde hair are more likely following a trend or fad rather than trying to be white. I mean, what's the difference with some blonde girls dying their hair BLACK or BROWN (Mandy Moore's one of them) and it doesn't mean they're trying to be Asian or Hispanic. Do they? I don't believe in double standards for Asian women when it comes to hair color or style 'cause we ARE free to do whatever we want to our hair because if other races can do it, we can too. We're free to leave our hair the natural way or dye it in all colors in the rainbow, cut it, spike it, or leave it super long, etc. Just IMHO.

I've always wanted to try different wigs on just to see how I look in them...and recently, I did. I just had a little problem -- I wasnt able to fit any of the wigs over my hair...not b/c I had a big head, but b/c I already had too much hair. The wigs gave me a cone shape head...so I wasnt able to determine which hairstyle looked best on me. How were you able to do it?

i don't think blonde hair on asians necessarily means you want to be white. look at the whole import car phenomenon. most of the import models are asian girls with dyed blond hair. these girls are there to appeal to the primarily asian male crowd that attends these shows.
also, i see a lot of young asian girls in california who dye their hair blond but hang out only with other asians and date only asians. i think it's just a fashion fad...kind of like the perm was in the 80's.

An all-over head of blonde hair on an Asian looks tacky, but subtle highlights can be quite flattering.

even though I like blonde hair that is done right on asians, I think it does look like you are trying to be white (even if you are not) unless you have an avante-garde style/ or other sort of "alternative" (don't mean "alternative"music specific, but just not mainstream (I think alternative music IS mainstream nowadays!)) Blonde hair on asians (women & men) with ordinary clothes (gap/preppy/mainstream) really looks like a white-wannabe. For this reason, I think I could never be a blonde, even though I think it looks great. I just don't have the clothes or lifestyle to complement asian blondeness without looking like a self-hating woman.

To try different hair colors AND hair styles, I suggest you to stop by any wig shop with large selection and try on the wigs you think you would like. What you like and trying on are different once you see yourself in the mirror. All colors and styles look differently on each individual, and trying on wigs is one good way to find out if it's something you want and if they will look good on you. They have long and short hair styles plus all colors in the rainbow. Good luck!
Also, I agree, we need to see more Asian women in the media in all shades of colors and looks!
