WHAT YOU SAY

IE Mdm,

Sorry for bot getting back sooner. I was in Key Wesy, Fl. This island is too congested and overcrowded with cars.

Thanks for your compliment. I wish I was still that good with my bahasa. During my primary school, I wish I didn't slack off that much. I understand most of the bahasa you've written, but it'll take me a while to answer back in malaysian.
Yup, I don't work for Airbus, but the other one that competes fiercely with airbus.

Well, didn't gypsies king did a remix on "el mariachi". Mexican salsa usually plays with guitar. Gypsies king almost always start with guitar. So what would you categorize gypsies king as? Yes, it's good to listen to soothing/relaxing music before going to bed.

Well, I'm working and going to school at the same time. My company is paying for my graduate school, so why not just take this opportunity. So got to University of Michigan, huh? I have a friend wen there. Email me and we'll chat so more. Later.

mixed malay&chinese guy,
Well, I was born in Seattle. Went back to Malaysia when i was 5 or so. I stayed there till 12. In Malaysia, friends came with bunch of tongues (Indian, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, hakka, hokkien, and etc). When I was in Malaysia, I knew five languages (bahasa malaysia, english, hakka, mandarin, and cantonese). At age 13, I moved back to US and picked up french in high school and college. Well, it's not too late to learn chinese. Start with chinese mandarin (not Taiwan) first because it's easier and less complex. Plus "pooh tung hwua" uses "jian ti" which simplifies a lot and quite easy to remember and write.

To MLK,

you can't make everybody happy, no matter who you date somebody probably won't like it. when i dated a caucasian female alot of asian females didn't like it and when i dated an asian female caucasian females didn't like it.
concentrate on dating people who make YOU happy.

to Jay... the confused hapa

Well...technically, I guess that I would have to say yes, considering that Goldsea's definition of Happa means having one Asian parent and one (something other than Asian) parent. Still, I don't identify myself as a mutt or (more appropriately, a mongrel). I think I'm just a very non-Asian-looking Asian female, so I'm a little uncomfortable with being called a Happa, as if it's a dirty word? I prefer Asian Female, thanks.

Oh, and it would be "No hablo espanol." or "No comprendo.", the "yo" being silent and understood. I understand enough of the romance languages to at least get the pronouns right, but why even bother to respond if it would only encourage further harassment? In situations such as these, it's best just to walk away really quickly and keep your hand on the cell phone just in case you have to dial for help. I'm surprised you don't know this. Are you female?

I think I read somewhere that AC Dropout's kids are happa.

Jay... the confused hapa,

Actually you would say "No hablo/entiendo espanol"

Andrew Xiaoliang Campbell,

Once you cross the Dixie Line all hell breaks loose.

Lari Kong,

A while back there was Kong that proclaimed to have an ungrounded preferrance to AM.

My apologies if you felt it was slanderous.

There are no innocents on this board. Consider it collateral damage. Friendly fire at its worst.

MLK,

"And I have to deal with jealous Hispanic men who think I've sold out on their culture because I prefer to be with AMs and identify myself with Asians."

Ah ha! Yellow Rice hold the beans and Yuka. hehe.

Whenever I get flack from latino in the city. I just go "Primo, ¿usted tiene un problema? bueno, no problema."

I think people will always have some crazy opinions. I wonder what those people think of the J Lo the NewYorician that likes Black people.

MLK,

I think I have an animosity to French because I lived in Montreal as a kid when Bill 101 was enacted there. So to me French is not an elite language, but a bunch of blue collar people who can't deal with the fact English is the predominent language in that country.

Jay... the confused hapa,

If I have a kid that's hapa, I guess my lawyers have not notified me of a paternaty suit yet.

a girl scout,

Me hapa. Unless you consider someone of HK and ROC descent a hapa, sure. I got flack from both sides of my family from not being pure Taiwanese or pure Cantonese. But I don't think many on this board would relate much to those experiences, since most people in the USA just lump all Asians together.

But I do have quite a few family members who are your more conventional white/asian descent hapa.

Hannybunbun:

Aha! Virginia! That explains why some of those White folks act that way towards ya'll! White Virginians who have ancestors who fought in the Civil and or Revolutionary wars are the most ARROGANT BASTARDS ON THE PLANET!

They keep on calling their State "The Commonwealth" like it were some kind of nation by itself. They walk around with the "Lee surrendered, I did not" attitude and think their shit doesn't stink. They believe that they are superior to the rest of the US and that their way is the only right way to live!

The DC Metro area is better--especially if you live on the Maryland side of it. However, the Virginia side of DC, while a nice place to stay for Economic and historical reasons, is a LOUSY place to stay regarding dealing with those idiotic White bastards!

At least most (not all) White folks in Houston are tolerant, if not friendly.

[Mexican men always come up to me and try to talk in Spanish, and of course, I don't have a clue what they are trying to say, so I'd shake my head and try to walk away or ignore them, if there's no way I can make a graceful exit. But if I can't get rid of them, I'd say, "sorry, I don't understand. I'm Asian, not Mexican."]

MLK, have you ever just said, "Hablas no espanol?"

[are you hapa? just wondering.]

a girl scout, that's what I'm starting to wonder too. But isn't the AC Dropout on the Martial Arts forum a Chinese guy?
Or maybe AC Dropout's kid is hapa... hehe...

Jay... the confused hapa    Monday, July 01, 2002 at 03:29:55 (PDT)
