Why, that was very informative... Now what exactly brings you here again? I know a busload of European history, but that wouldn't bring me to a European website. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to see more, and much longer, contributions from SPRNZ. Her command of English shows a verve, sense of drama and originality which makes it far more exciting to read than mine; I'd very gladly read an autobiographical memoir by her and I'd like to hear her speak, too.

DULLER STUFF FOLLOWS:
Modern Europe has immigrant East-Asian populations; Vietnamese in France and Germany, Cantonese in Britain and all sorts of Indonesians in Holland. There are a few people in Iberia descended from Japanese who settled there in Tokugawa times. Some East-Asians in Europe came as economic migrants and others fled from calamitous political upheavalss. In addition there are Tartar and Mongol remnant populations in the Balkans and Crimea, plus the Lapps and Kalmuks, who are Asians-in-Europe. According to a century-old Biedeker Guide I once owned, there is (or was)a region of eastern France where every twentieth person has (or had) visible Mongol or Tartar ancestry.

I am married with a Japanese guy and I`m white skinned latino girl with black hair...I got pregnant recently and I wonder how the baby will be...We both feel very excited and happy about all this...we also discuss the hapa issues in the future of our gift...I was born in Puerto Rico, and in my country I'm a very attractive beautiful female, I'm also Teacher of Elementary School, so I love kids so much especially when I went to Taiwan 2 years ago to teach english in some English Institute for kids....Now I remember how much I wanted to have a baby like them, I looked in the mirror once and I thought "Gosh, in my country I might be beautiful but am I nothing special for Asian males?"...Well I guess when this Japanese married me I was like: "goddamn!!! I can`t believe these so called race-purity protectors Japanese just happen to like non-asians now".....I did research and I found out the great mayority of Asians dating and marrying non-asians, especially "Latino Women" are Japanese!!! so...now I`m just thinking after all those moments of Asian-Fire (you know what I mean)of intimate nature with my husband , yes!!!!!!! finally I got pregnant!!!!!!!!! How's it gonna be???? more Japanese or more Latino or perhaps a beautiful mix of both~~~All I know is that this baby is the most beautiful gift of love given by an Asian man, and I`m so proud of it!!!!!!! ^_^

I have many friends that are hapa, and when I went to China last year, I was very surprised to find that everyone was so surprised that I have hapa friends. I mean, come on, who can really boast totally Han blood? Somewhere back on the bloodlines there's gotta be something else.

I am almost positive I have commented on this thread previously, but I got tired of trying to find my posts, LOL!

Ahem, anyway, being half black and Korean I have a natural proclivity for other multiracial individuals because we are a double, sometimes even triple, minority. It is as if a spark goes off when I see another product of different backgrounds forming a union to create someone else like me.

There are many monoracial individuals who find multiracial individuals attractive because of the blended features, the hightened sense of cultural awareness (if present at all), the exoticness and all of that, but in the end it really is the inner person that lets true beauty shine through.

I used to be bent on finding a blasian man who I could instantly connect with and have beautiful blasian babies with and I missed out on so many other beautiful people because of my tunnel vision.

I am now head over heals for a caucasian [note the word has -asian in it ;) ]who is just as white as can be! He's blond with green eyes and speaks fluent German and I am in love with all of that!

I bring that up that because while I still notice or try to disect a person's ethnicity and background in my mind as a reflex, the self imposed warm-fuzzy aura that surrounded my mixed brothers and sisters has faded.

Don't get me wrong, I still find the radiant skin tone, slanted eyes, full lips and defiantly curled hair of blasians to be particularly attractive, but that is a testiment to my own vainity and I can admit that whole heartedly.

I am still a fan of the beauty of mixed folks, but we've been knocked down a few pegs in my eyes and I am totally fine with that!

Some random points: (forgive me :D)

Northeast sux0r for Asians, very much so, except maybe for New York City. My cousins live there, and turned out great, seemingly, I haven't spent enough quality time with them unfortunately.

Austin, TX r0x0r extremely. It is my hometown, but I have been away for some time now.

Asians are not monolithic. In accordance with this, in my experience most Asians date other Asians. The 40% out dating statistic is blatantly wrong.. seems like evil propaganda. ;) But I am leaving room for some enclave lost in an evil racist place.

Keanu Reeves father was Hawaiian Chinese. His parents are divorced; so his late name changed to "white".

Dean Cain's father's father (ie paternal grandfather) is Japanese. His parents divorced, so again the name change.

I have not seen many Central or North Asians. I know that there is substantial Chinese mixing in Central Asia. Falconers are also well known in ancient China, there are statues of them and such. Li Bai I believe was a falconer in his youth as well; his family moved back to China from Central Asia after leaving during civil war. However I am getting off topic. The point is that there was a series of pictures of a falconer in National Geographic a few years ago. The falconer was quite Asian but had ghosty blue eyes. Freaky =p So I am inclined to support earlier posts about the appearances of North Asians.

My current roommate from Manchuria has light brown eyes, kind of a dark gold.
I wouldn't go assuming everyone is mixed; although obviously in the far distant past there have been gene mixings (since China has not always been so well populated, most of the population comes from the north, which borders on other regions, there have been various huge reductions and surges in population in the past), but that far north, there is less sunlight, and so it is naturally advantageous to be lighter of complexion.

And yet another musing, somewhere far back, which I will address. It is of course known that people like the Turks, Bulgars, Hungarians, Finnish all have substantial Asian ancestry. But from the land of my parents, Taiwan, there once escaped Dutch women, pregnant Dutch women, from Chinese soldier fathers. This happened during the official Chinese takeover of Taiwan, late 1600s. The women were eventually released back to Holland, and I wonder what became of their babies..

Why is a Hawaiian term (hapa) used to describe people of any mixed race? Out here, we prefer the Spanish word, mestiza.

wow this board is very heated ><... but I am very intrested in this topic I'm korean/black and hispanic people mostly think I'm filipino. I think hapa's are very beautiful and very unique. they vary into many different things ^^~

Why r u guys stressing, of course no 1 race or people of mixed heritage are better than any other. + lets be reaL. a large number of americans aren't even aware of or sensitive to persons of multi-racial ancestries, outside of Hawaii.

I am Japanese and Black and I've fought this Hapa issue my whole life. I think Hapas are really beautiful. I am dark skinned with slanted green eyes and other girls used to trip over that. I am proud of my heritage now. More power to Hapas I think they're cool! Oh by the way, people need to leave Kimora Lee Simmons alone. She is just as beautiful as anyone else, and so what she's part black. Everyone else seems to be mixed with something else anyway. Don't deny the woman does look good.
