I wish if I hit the 6' mark, maybe I still can since I'm only 18. Being taller would've helped me out when I played ice hockey. I guess I was just one of those early growers that grew less when other kids really started to grow, I remember being 5'6 in grade 8 and now I'm only 5'7-5'8. I hear if you play sports where you jump alot (i.e. basketball, vollyball) you have a good chance of growing taller than if you do not, anyone else heard this or know if it's true? By looking at the athletes that play vollyball and basketball you would think it's true. I know basketball players who's 6'3 and their parents are only like 5'11 and 5'4.

When comparing average height of Asian Americans to White Americans, I really think the true difference is marginal, only 1 inch apart, 2 inches at the very most. The reasons it seems like whites are so much taller are because:
1) Whites frequently LIE about their height. They typically add 2 inches to their true height, especially during surveys, and these surveys are used by may studies to compare races.
2) Whites dominate the media. In the media world, taller people are favored, and receive more publicity. The glamorous media world is not an accurate reflection of the general population. Don't forget, height inflation is rampant in the media and modeling world.
3) Whites are far more likely to wear elevator shoes and lifts. The "elevator shoe" business is something like a $100 million industry, and people (mostly whites) are buying and wearing these by the millions.
I'm guessing the reason most Asians don't wear elevator shoes is because, when you enter an Asian household, it is typical to remove your shoes. Imagine, if you were to wear elevator shoes, then take them off after entering your Asian friend's house, suddenly shrinking by 3 inches would be quite noticeable. On the other hand, when I enter my white friends' house, I hardly ever take off my shoes (unless they are very dirty, wet, or muddy), because it's not customary.
Just my 2 cents (and 2 inches) worth.

blonde Nuristani,
It is true that Pathans are more or less the same as Pushtuns in Afghanistan and many possess classic Iraniod features. It also helps explain the strong cultural and political connection between the northern Mountains of Pakistan and the Pashtuns of Afghanistan. In many ways the geographic border between both countries in that region is an artificial one.
It is also true that there have been many Pathan actors in India and Pakistan. In general, anyone with the last name Khan has some cultural connection to the Pathans. In India there is Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Salmaan Khan, Feroz Khan and his son. I'm probably leaving out a couple too. There have also been a number of famous Hindu actors that ethnically came from the Pathan regions but retained there Hindu religion. They could also be considered Pathans by blood if not by usual religious relation. The other major ethnic group among South Asian filmstars are the Punjabis. Punjabis of course can be either Sikh, Muslim or Hindu. And to further complicate matters, there are a number of Sikhs that do not wear Turbans and are clean shaven.

Very Short Chinese Girl,
Hmm... I think your experience is completely the opposite of the norm. I've never heard of short guys complaining that a girl is too short; or them being very picky about a woman's height. As Kevin Yang said, "if you're cute, height doesn't matter".
I think the universal understanding (at least my universe) is that it's short women who carry strong biases against shorter guys -- and won't date anyone unless they are such and such tall (usually a lot taller than herself). However, you don't really see the reverse (short guys having a certain height cut-off point).
In regards to tall guys having a fetish for short girls -- yup, it exists, and not uncommon. But if a guy has a fetish for short women because he thinks of them as weak and vulnerable and makes him feel strong and manly -- the reverse is true as well. Short women who prefer tall guys prefer them for the same but opposite reason -- it makes them feel "safe", they think the guy is "manly" and "masculine". It's the same fetish but in reverse.
So in conclusion, lots of shorter Asian guys would date you.
By the way, have you dated a lot of old white guys??.. :)

I don't think that there are that many muslim actresses in the Indian film industry - there is Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan(they are male actors). But they are Indian muslims from central India. Some Pathans can be very fair, but there are those who are the same colour as Indians and Pakistanis - it just depends on the region.
