What's this inferiority complex towards the Nordics? They're average height is 5'11" but the tallest people are in Africa...where there is also the greatest number and diversity of and among different ethnic groups. There's a group of plains people in Eastern Africa whose average height is 6'8" and Western Africans...many of whom were enslaved and brought to America...average 6'2". Of course pygmies almost average 4'11"...but isn't all this just ridiculous...what happened to courage, virtue, discipline, wisdom, charm...

5'6" isnt midget short for guys...it's a shorter height but not midget. under 5 feet is more "midget".

ha i think its kind of funny how everyone is making a big fuss over 4 inch heels. 4 iches is nothing! right ladies? i have a pair of 6 inch heels, they are funky wooden clogs. i dont wear them every day its more for show than to wear, but i have worn em before and they are awesome. ( by the way i am not a stripper/dancer/prostitute)=)

I like guys who are shorter than me. I am around 5'6 (or average height for a female) and I think guys who are like 5'4 or 5'5 to be incredibly sexy. As long as they are not petite like me. hehe.

I know a lot of Asian guy friends who are short, but are very successful and rich. They never score with white and Asian women, but they do get their picks of beautiful Latin and Mexican women.

A lot of these guys are only 5'5 and under.

They are not ugly. It's just that they are not tall enough for "some" women.

Well, I see them going out with their Latina chicks and having a fun time.

I guess that height does matter for some in dating, but there will always be some who look at the man's face, his heart and his career FIRST! That is what counts more, not his looking over others.

I find that among the Chinese in America, it is the short guys who are the players and bad boy types while the tall ones are dull and dorky.

I agree with Korean Traveller. The Swedes, Dutch and Danes are among the tallest people on average. There are also some tall Africans in certain parts of Africa.

In East Asia, I would also agree with Korean Traveller, the Northern Chinese are the tallest, next are the Koreans. However, the difference is not necessarily that great. I've seen some short Northern Chinese and short Koreans also and some tall Southern Chinese. I'm Taiwanese-American and have Taiwanese-American friends over 6 feet tall.

if 5'10" is tall for an asian male, then what's average? 5'7"? then what's short? 5'4"? i don't really recall ever meeting an asian guy that's only 5'4". i know they are out there statisticaly, but maybe they're just afraid of me.

i'm a relatively tall asian male, and for me, i probably put a higher emphasis on height than any other physical aspect. if there were 3 average women that were the same in everything except one had height (5'8" and above), another had super pretty looks, and the last had a nice toned body, i would no doubt pick the one with height. i guess i just like the rarity.

I am a 5'11" french female. I am so beautiful every woman want to be me. I have sexy blond hair and blue eyes. I like to wear heels and tiny clothes to show my body to everyone. Everyone wants to see it. I cannot blame the americans and asians for it, they like what they see! I just move to California from Nice. I don't like California. I don't like the short little man. They too small to reach my face and is too insulting I feel. I will not deal with it. This is beneath me. Most Frenchmen I date have been taller than me. I sometimes have date Asian Man before. Only one because he was 6'1" and he had big strong hands. That is all. Everyone else is so tiny I could put them in the palm of my hand. Or in my pocket. I don't care if someone feels mad about what I said. SO WHAT. It is true. The small man is so tiny I could not marry him. Where will we live together? In the dolls house? Hahahahahaha

I'm short and people have always listened to me.

There was an article in the Economist magazine about a month back about height. The traditional notion was that tall people got all the breaks. The new findings are that people who were tall as teens got more of the breaks. This points to psychological affect or development during an impressionable period in one's life.

This makes complete sense, as I've also noticed that tall or short, guys who were geeks, short or fat as teens continue to be insecure as adults.

I was pretty average as a child. I just stopped growing earlier than most guys. So I don't think I carry around the usual baggage found in the stereotypical short guy. The time when it really dawned on me that I was "short" was during college -- aftering being pointed out time and again by other idiot Asian guys. Obviously, they were insecure themselves and had to try to point out their 1 to 3 inch advantage over me. Pretty lame.

If short people have a hatred towards the world, it's as a result of the world hating them. For example, I never thought about my height until people kept pointing it out to me, over and over and over again. It gets tiresome after a while.

The average korean female (or any asian female) is not 5'5, unless she's wearing heels (which most asian girls do). Even the avg. caucasian female is not 5'5.
