Sorry, but Im going to have to disagree with you on your comment about Houston. After living in Houston for over 17 years, I still see major growth in my city. I see so many new hi rises being built every day, and trust me they aint cheap either! Take for example Sugarland (sorry, I consider any city, county, or area who shares Houston's area codes to be part of Greater Houston). Sugarland was literally a dirt road 12-15 yrs ago. Now its one of the fastest growing communities in the country! We have so many transplanted Houstonians from other cities like New York and Los Angeles. Why? Becuase it's so cheap to live here! Yes, we don't have any natural views, the traffic is bad, and the weather sucks the majority of the year. On the other hand, the low cost of living here, the fine arts that we boast, the diverse dining that we offer, our thriving night life, and our vast job opportunities make HOUSTON a great city! At least we don't have to pay two income taxes like those Californians do...

Please move be's posts to another board. This isn't the "Asian American Life in Dallas" board. Putting stuff on the virtues of Dallas on a Houston board is like touting the good points of LA on the San Francisco Bay Area board. In each case, those two cities and cultures are different as night and day, even though they are in the same State. Texas is not any more than homogenous California.

Just like there is an intense rivalry between the Bay Area and LA, it is the same way between Dallas and Houston. Most Houstonians hate Dallas and vice versa. Looking at the Census Statistics, it is very clear that the Houston Area--especially Sugar Land and Katy--are the place where most Asian Americans are in Texas. The Dallas area is very obviously where most Asian Americans are NOT.

[Houston is obviously the Asian town of Texas. That's why for the time being, it's the only Texan city with its own page. But you must recognize the value of allowing a bit of comparative analysis in providing insights on a city's virtues and faults. On the other hand, we don't tolerate a lot of off-topic posting, so there will be no deluge of posts on Dallas or other cities. --Ed]
The NBA is fortunate to recruit three players from China: Wang Zhizhi( currently playing), Mengke Bateer(currently playing), and now Yao Ming, who will be playing for the Houston Rockets. This is a good head start for Asians to play professional sports. There was one Asian player from the NFL Eugene Chung. Apparently, he disappeared from the spotlight, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it's truly good for Yao Ming to come the US and play in the NBA. May he bring good success to his team.

This board is about Houston, not Dallas. You obviously don't know much about Houston, so you really have no room to be talking about it. Your comments should go onto a Dallas board or onto the more general AA Cities board. Dallas posts are off-topic.

PS

Be, there's no Dallas board here about AAs in Dallas because AAs DON'T WANNA LIVE IN DALLAS--or at least any AAs with GOOD SENSE. This is the HOUSTON BOARD, so GET THE HELL OFF OF IT!!!

You don't know Houston worth a DAMN!

Houston is anything but compact--It's got urban and suburban sprawl into five surrounding counties. They're building so many new houses in the burbs as well as new high rise lofts and townhomes in Midtown because of the growth during the past 5 years as well as due to the huge revitalization of the Houston Downtown area.

You're obviously not from here, so shut the Hell up. You don't know what you're talking about.
