Idiot Savant:

There are some Corean Baptist Churches in Coreatown along Long Point, as well as in other parts of SW Houston. I know of one on the corner of Beechnut and Gessner, but it's kind of small. If you're not Baptist, I know of some Corean Methodist and Catholic churches too.

I don't know of any predominantly Corean night clubs or karaokes, however. But there are plenty of predominantly Viet and Chinese clubs in SW Chinatown as well.

Don't listen to what Jaren said--not all guys like to play the BMOC. Just be laid back and be yourself, man.

Where are the Asian chicks?

Dude, get yourself a personality before you try to do your thing. Been in Houston for 5 years and still don't know what the heck you're doing? By your writing style, you don't seem like a real fun dude. I don't think you'll be successful in "going out and getting some girls in Houston."

Where are the Asian chicks?

Bud, if you're looking to pick up women in a club, you're not necessarily going to get a great personality.

A lot of the hot, mainstream downtown clubs (Spy, Tonic, Power Tools) have a lot of young/professional Asian Americans going there, but they are not Asian-only or predominantly Asian clubs. There are a bunch of predominantly Asian clubs in Westside Chinatown, but they tend to be somewhat on the FOBBY side (i.e. Planet Saigon, Venus Karaoke, Ca$hBox, etc.)

As far as non-club environs, I've seen a fair number of good looking Asian (as well as Latin, White and Black) young women working out at 24 Hour Fitness locations in Westchase, Richmond Strip, Voss and Post Oak areas. There's also a decent number of single Asian women who attend the singles classes at Chinese Baptist Church and 2nd Baptist Church, though at 2nd you'll also meet some nice looking White, Latin and even one or two Black women too.

I've seen pretty young Asian girls at the Barnes & Noble's on Westheimer/Voss as well as the one in Sugar Land, eating in various Asian restaurants on the SW, West and NW sides of town, shopping in the Galleria, First Colony and Katy Mills Malls, jogging at Memorial Park and other places in West and SW Houston.

I'm a Corean-American male thinking about going out and getting some Asian girls in Houston.

I've been in H-town over 5 years now, but not sure where to go for Asian girls. Some told me to try Spy. I had been to Spy for the first few years after it opened. It opened as a regular mainstream club. Is it really an Asian club now? I read on this board that it is gang-infested. I might still try it as long as it is reasonably safe.

I'm interested in Asian girls in general, Vietnamese, Corean, Japanese, Chinese, etc.

It's official: Yao Ming will be wearing #11 for the HOUSTON ROCKETS!!! You should have seen the crowd at D&B on the Richmond Strip during the draft yesterday. On TV, there was a shot of a group of young guys--Asian, Black, Latin and White cheering "MING! MING! MING! MING! WHOOOOOOOO!!!" after it was announced he'd been drafted.

Watch out folks, Ming is going to be the biggest hit for H-Town since Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon!

Houston's AA Community is going WOW for YAO!!!

From the basketball courts where young Asian-Americans play pickup games to the airwaves of Mandarin-language radio, Yao-mania is the buzz of Houston's Chinese community.

Basketball fans and Asian-American community leaders are thrilled that the Houston Rockets may draft Chinese basketball star Yao Ming as the National Basketball Association's No. 1 pick on June 26.

For the Rockets, the 7-foot-5, 290-pound Yao has tremendous potential to fill a hole at center. For the NBA, he may be the key to tapping a fan base among Asian-Americans and the Chinese.

To Chinese-Americans in Houston, Yao represents an opportunity to change the perception of their people.

"It's like Tiger Woods starting in golf," said 22-year-old Nathan Chang between informal basketball games with other Chinese-Americans at a local church.
