WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
it's been kinda hard to talk about l.a. without talking about the riots during the past month. but after all the anger and frustration has died down, i think it's very important, yet also very difficult, to keep in mind what pioneer said--that it's a shared struggle. have to keep that in perspective. have to tell myself that each day. very hard not to get angry at your own who are ignorant of the struggle and who chastise you in your strive to achieve justice.
but for "let's talk about l.a.":
you can live in the mid-wilshire area, it's not too bad. it's close to beverly hills, yet still affordable. maybe $900-1000 for a 1 bedroom. even more affordable and nice places are in alhambra and other parts of the san gabriel valley. it all depends on how close you want to be to the city. quality of food is awesome. especially asian food. monterey park and san gabriel have restaurants that house chefs that have newly immigrated from hong kong and taiwan. great food. ktown has pretty good korean food. japanese food in the south bay is great too. great night life. there will always be something for you irregardless of what your scene is. blah blah.blah. come visit and see for yourself.

LA has lost a news media icon: Jerry Dunphy. May he rest in peace. "From the desert to the sea to all of Southern California."

To say that educated Asians "fit in" and educated Blacks do not is evidence of blatant sterotyping.
Condelezza Rice does not fit in? How about Supreme Court justice Clarance Thomas?
You argue that you and other blacks who are law abiding should not have to suffer. Then tell me why the Blacks victimize all the Korean stores when only one store owner, Du, shot Harlin? Why blame the other innocent Korean store owners who are innocent? Why RIOT Koreantown stores for your frustrations against Du and the white officers who beat King?
Why is your frustratrion with the verdict of the court that found the white cops not guilty for beating Rodney King the fault of the Koreans? Before you cry victimhood, remind yourself that the black community is notorious for blaming all Korean merchants for the actions of Soon Ja Du. The Black community even blamed the Koreans and rioted their stores for what white cops did to King!
Who the hell beat reginal denny and left him for dead when they were pissed by the rodney king verdict?
Direct your message to treat people as individuals towards your own people, Geoff DB!
I stand by my statement "get your house in order". Today, the majority of Black children are born illegitimate. Is that whitey's fault or is it the fault of black gangsta culture that makes it cool to knock up as many ho's as possible?
About taking the juice in the backpack, I was specifically mentioning that Harlin girl who Du shot. No one deserves to die over a container of OJ, but provide us with an explanation as to the lack of accountability for that theft. No one is saying that law-abiding Blacks is responsible for non-law-abiding Blacks do, but in this very case, that dead girl was not an angel. If she did not steal, could it be possible the incident would never had occured and she would be alive today?
In addition to protesting at Soon Ja Du's store, why did not the Black community educate its children not to steal?
The Condilizza Rices and the Clarence Thomas' of the world are examples that Blacks too can make it.
While you like to play victimhood, allow me to state that you are to be held responsible for your actions.
I don't know about you personally Geoff DB, but how much personal responsibility (or lack of) is responsibile for the majority of black children born iligitimate? That mahjority of black men are in jail or on some sort of court ordered probation?
Yes, Dr Martin Luther King must be turning in his grave right now, not because of the lack of equal opportunity, but because of the dismal failure of his people to accept responsibility for their actions.
