WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
SPRNZ,
It is going to take a lot of work on your part if you want to feel confident about entering a fight with a group of men.
At 5'4" your peak sparring class could be in the fly division or lighter. In those divisions you will see speed will be your assets in sparring. 5-10 kick flurries are not uncommon in those divisions.
I would recommend a 6 day training program of at least 4 hrs a day in TKD. 1 day devoted to sparring. The other days devoted to techniques, combinations, strategy, footwork, and cardio.
Strength training is not really necessary, because of the amount of time you'll spend training.
If you're not ready to commit to this type of training I would just try to avoid all forms of physical conflicts on the street and buy a can of mace.

Team Extreme, sorry I guessed wrong. So does flip mode mean you're pinoy? Anyway, although all poly groups are distinct from each other, we do share some similar legends about ancient poly kings and like the american indians some poly groups had legends of white god visiting them and promising to return. That's one reason Cook was accepted when he first came to the island, but god's don't bleed. All polynesians know the legends of the Maori warriors visiting other poly groups, and whether they choose to admit it or not the Maori were the fiercest warriors in the pacific. Ask the british which poly group kicked their ass.
As far as being down for other polys, I'm down for them. I've got cousins who's half Tongan, and a few who are part Samoan. A few of my Tongan cousins were born and raised in Tonga and still live there. Yeah, it's no big secret there is some bicketing between the poly groups. If you live in Hawaii you see it. As far as polys breaking down other polys, it's no big deal. Stuff like that happens a lot in Hawaii. I'm not a little kid, but I guess I'm too young to know much about what happened in Carson. I know what my older cousins tell me. I had some older cousins going to college in the early nineties up on the west coast, and they had friends in the SOS and some Tongan gang in Utah the TCG. From what my cousins tell me the guys who were claiming Hawaiian were actually guys from Hawaii. There was a fight and although my cousins weren't there they heard the guys from Hawaii got beaten up. At least the boyz stepped up. The other fight I was referring to was a fight in the bay area between polys and blacks. The polys were out numbered and took a beating. That's what my older cousins told me.
As far as the Hawaiian Martial Art I mentioned, my cousin tells me it's called Lua. The word lua in the Hawaiian language has several meanings, but it's also the name of this Martial Art. My cousin says it was only taught to the Alii(Royalty), their Guard/Warriors, and some nobles. Seems like the haole banned its practise along with the hula and other forms of worship. I heard from others that it's being taught on Maui and possibily on the Big Island of Hawaii. Like I said last time, my personal knowledge of it is limited, but I've been told it has different levels and to some degree deals in war tactics and self defense. The first Hawaiians had weapons of war, so I'm assuming it includes the use of those weapons. My cousin says it also includes what can be considered grappling, eye gouges, and even biting. I apologize to the aina if I've misrepresented Lua. That's all I was told about it. I've never studied it physically or academically.
I'm from Oahu, but I'm in college up here on the west coast, and of couse we polys stick together. Like I said when I whacked that guy who called me out, I went and got some older polys to make sure i didn't get jumped. Even though there is still some conflicts and bickering between poly groups, my older cousins say now a days the relations are lot better. I guess it shoud depend on where you're living. As far as poly pride, don't know any polys who aren't proud to be. As far as poly unity, just like any group there are times of great unity and times of falling out. As far as being hospitable people, Polys for the most part in the homelands are very hospitable. I guess those of us in the US are prone to the climate we live in.
SOG, you're right I don't know why I thought you were the one who posted that about roids and getting bigger. Hmmm. But you do remind me of Crazy Cabbie. As far as SEAL Teams, I have relatives who were SEAL Team members. I think we still have two who are still active SEAL Teams. Marcinko is a modern day warrior. The US could probably use his help right about now. I still don't know why I went off on you like that, maybe you reminded me of some one else. I don't drink and I don't do drugs, so I know that wasn't it. Oh well.
The other thing I need to post here is an apology to the females, for saying those two guys fought like girls. Actually I know a few tita nui and sungas who kickass, so that was a dumb thing to say. Those two fought like two guys who didn't know how to fight.
Time to sleep. It's two in the morning here on the west coast. Summer camp starts soon, so don't know how much longer I can visit this site. I'll check back now and then. I'm sure Ikaika will keep me posted.
Lights out...

SPRNZ sheesh man, wow. You almost got raped by a gang of black men?? do tell.
Also AC: The new tekken 4 is very hard. More realistic and SLOWER. Bothers me causel, the computer beats the crap out of me. Also i think it is too slow. They must have gotten the motions from loser martial artists.
But i learned lot's form bruce lee's books. Definitely increased fighting ability. I punched literally 2X faster than my karate counterparts, and when i was orange belt the brown and black belts FEARED ME, they wouldn't spar with me. Oh well, just as well, i would have cleaned their clocks.
some people just have the physiology to fight. AKA asians.

How materialistic: Men who train martial arts with women. There were times when women weren't allowed to practice martial arts at all. Among Muslims it was forbidden to strike the training partner with the left hand. --I can't understand people who train combative sports "for fun".
My motto: repect the training partner and don't touch him, respect females and don't even look at them!

Kalani (HapaHawaiian) just surfing through...,
You are correct books and movies are not the way to learn the perfect technique. You need video game training as well. For novices I recommend $2 a day at the arcade. For those that want to learn the touch of death at least $50-$100 a day at the arcade.

Mr. Hann,
Yup we trained Bin Laden. He is a creation of ours. We funded and trained him orginally.
Think...Bin Laden been fighting ever since he was out of college and took on the USSR on USA behalf. He's been fighting non-stop for 20 years.
You think some SEAL can just waltz up and take Bin Laden down. You must be crazy. It not even going to be physical confrontation. It going to be small fire arms.
In reality we are trying to blow him up with missles. It not going to be dramatic like in the movies.
If you were going to only send 1 SEAL or 1 RANGER I would recommend at least $100 of video game training a day.
