AC Dropout,
As 5'4" girl, I know I need a lot of work.
Thanks for the recommendation.
For me learn TKD is for self defend and discipline.
I never wanna risk my self entering fight with a group men or phisical conflict on the street. BUT IF the compel situation force me to fight, I've to fight. With confident and trust my TKD ability. Mace? Mace does not really work. They can grab it and spray it back to me.

Maori Toa Aoteroa, my older relatives have a saying, "Don't let your hummingbird ass over run your hummingbird mouth." I guess they would say that to me now.
I know of the legends of the pacific, but I was always told by my older relatives that the Maori were the fierciest warriors of the pacific, and that they once came to Hawaii or so a legend says. But I'm not Maori, so I will take to heart what you said.
I will apologize to you if I said something offensive regarding Maori. I guess I should apologize to any other polys who feels I need to. Sometimes I let the rage inside get to me.
Anyway, I don't anymore about Lua other than what my relatives told me. I've been meaning to look into more now. I asked one of my uncles about it, and he told me that Lomilomi comes from Lua. Lomilomi is for lack of a better term, massage. I guess Lua taught them how to break peoples bones and other things and lomilomi was the technique they used to heal themselves.
I do know lomilomi works, but I don't know how. I had a cousin who tore up his knee playing basketball, actually tore his acl. His knee swelled up and he couldn't walk. My uncle took him to an old Hawaiian man, and the guy massage the leg and my cousin was able to walk again with only a slight limp. My cousin says the guy told him what was wrong, but couldn't correct it in one visit. My cousin said it felt like his leg was weightless. He had to use crutches to walk into the house where the man was, but he walked on his own when he left. The old man only wanted a meal, and my cousin was supposed to go back, but his grandma stopped him from going again. She is christian and believes what the man did was not within christian beliefs.
I will look more into the Lua, as well as Lima Lama. I know the first Hawaiians had wooden weapons made of Koa wood, and some of the weapons had shark teeth fixed to them for ripping and shredding.
I've thought about the NHB and other MMA competitions. I know back home they've been having them over the last few years. I agree with you on polys doing well in those competitions if the spirit and discipline was there. I've heard of Eric Pele, and his accomplishments.
Team extreme, I'm sorry for coming on so strong. I guess it's the poly in me. I guess that's why I like to play football, you get let it go and not get in trouble.
I'll look into Lua and see what I can tell you. Maybe martial arts would be the next outlet once I'm out of football.
Take care.

Nah those higher belts couldnt beat me. I was young 15 or so. Of course the 25+ guys would woop me simply because of their size and strength. But guys around my age 15-20 was not nearly as strong. They had very poor conditioning. My punches were much more powerful (jeet kune do) and relativly super fast. Besides i saw them spar. WTF was that??? looks like little girls fighting. As a result I had to fight a 35 yr old dude and got my ass kicked. He was not good as me but he was lot stronger. TK4 is gay. No one moves like that anyway. and no girl has that kind of power.
Of course a pro fighter can beat me in sparring. But i'm not into hardcore training because it really messes you up potentially. I dont like missing teeth or going limp. To do that you have to devout a good deal of time and energy.

Maori Toa Aoteroa,
how would you describe the differences between Polynesian martial arts and East Asian martial arts? As far as I know some people mix it with Karate or something else. Is it easy to confuse with Silat or totally different (because the stature of Polynesians differs from that of the more Western peoples)?

Hey, did anyone see The Best Damn Sports Show Period last night? They televised the first ever non-PPV UFC fight. It was between "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler and Steve Berger. Lawler kicked ass! He knocked Berger out with a vicious jumping "Roy Jones Jr. style" right hand. That guy is definitely an up and comer. I think Militich is overrated, but his disciple sure does have a lot of potential. Also, Fox really knows what they are doing in terms of hiring reporters. First, they got former playmate, Lisa Guerrero. Now, they hired another playmate, LeeAnn Tweeden! rrRRrrRR...

Ughh... I hate TK4. I used to work for Namco, and I loved TK3 and TK Tag. Once 4 came out, they lost me. What was fun about the previous TK's was the cheesiness of the graphics, yet the playability was great. With 4, they seem to have gotten it backwards. Even so, the graphics aren't all that spectacular, not even comparable to the Virtua Fighters.

Kalani I am Maori and Chinese living in New Zealand. As an advocate of Maori and Pacific Island historical studies there are no recollections in myths, legends of my ancestors ever visiting other major Polynesian islands like Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Niue or Tokelau. My ancestors came by the way of Hawaiki according to myths and legends. Many say that is the Cook Island group because our native tongues are so very similar. Our warriors were very fierce and it is known that we drove the peaceful Moriori Polynesian race to extinction with warfare, slavery and cannibalism. My people have a martial art which included hand to hand combat, abilities to handle weapons like the taiaha, long stick and other warclubs. When you talk about us kicking British asses, it sounds very flattering but although my people were brave against such overwhelming odds, we were no match against their military might. It is a little known fact that Maoris did actually engage in the world's first trench warfare against the British in many colonial wars which did prove effected in a limited sense. If you want to go back to Pacific antiquity before island society and settlements were concreted, listen to the legends or read about the maritime empire of Tui Manu'a dynasty who supposedly ruled the Pacific from Easter Island all the way to New Zealand, Tonga and beyond Melanesia for hundreds of years. Remember these are before the days there were structured societies in the Pacific. Manu'a probaby provided the first island society and it is noted as the first settlement in the Cradle of Polynesia Samoa. It is from there that islanders ventured out and settled many other islands. But it interpreted to conquering and warfare takeover in myths and legends. Polynesia's myths and legends make it hard to see what aspects are to be taken seriously but provide for such great reading and interesting references.
It is good to hear about Hawaiian martial art called the Lua, the Samoan martial art Lima Lama and the Maori martial art of handling the taiaha and other means of hand to hand combat fighting. Kalani, heard of any more? With our own martial arts and fighting style I believe Polynesians would really excell in grappling no holds barred fighting if the spirit and discipline was there. I see a couple of Samoans Vitale Falaniko and Eric Pele have risen to the top of the King of the Cage NHB ladder with Falaniko achieving world championship honors and Pele currently in No 1 contendership status. However I'm still a big traditionalist fan of shaolin wushu and other wushu arts of China.

SOG,
Actually the timing on TK4 is pretty realistic. You just need more rolls of quarters.
Black belts sometimes hate sparring lower belts, because they don't know squat and people will get hurt from a training session. Like over inflated ego of being the next UFC champion or something.
The Olypian Bronze medalist had a simple solution to this problem. Instead of decreasing his skill level whenever he sparred his students he just said treat this like a real fight. Him and the national champion I trained with kicked my butt to never-never land for the first 4 months of training.
