WHAT YOU SAY

AA,
This is to your response from the other Forum. This particular school we mentioned relates to students like a cult. There actually is a interesting article written by a Kung Fu Sifu I came across that gives a comparison to how to tell if your school is crossing lines on whether it is a tight knit close family type school..or an actualy cult. I will see if I can find that later on and give you a link.

I understand that alot of Sifus become very close to their students and I understand the difference between just an instructor that is out to make money, and an instructor that really wants to see a student achieve.

But this particular school, mandates whom one can date, if a student gets married, the Sifu gets to meet the person and express her approval/disapproval before the marraige.

If there is a student there that is "out dating", meaning dating outside the school/cult...they will go to great lengths to talk that person out of a relationship with the non-student and also go to great lengths to sabatoge or break up that relationship.

It is a freaking cult of the worse kind.

When my husband got married and chose to devote more time to his job and family, they had his peers calling him constantly telling him he was missing classes and telling him he was no good anymore, that he had made a mistake marrying me .

His Sifu would not even look at him or I or speak at competitions he went to after we were married.

When that did not phase him, they sent a kung fu peer to try to cause dissention in our marraige. This person actually met him for lunch, under the guise of telling him about a competition in Florida and he brought a girl with him to try to "introduce" to my husband..a girl approved by the kung fu peer.

I have received emails from some of these people that were insulting and degrading.

The very sad thing is that the owner and Sifu of this particular school, is also a judge for the National and International competitions. So to offend her casts a definite shadow on his competitions.

My husband does not keep in contact with the peers since he was disturbed by their offensive emails to me and their creepy behavior regarding his family life. I think there is actually brainwashing that goes on, some subtle, some not subtle at all.

It is a shame that freaks like that can hold such political power in the kung fu world, when kung fu itself is such a positive thing.

Did anyone see the latest UFC? Chuck "The Ice Man" Liddell whooped Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort pretty bad. Belfort tried to make a comeback, but got caught with a vicious right hook by Liddell.

Also, Tito Ortiz called out Ken Shamrock (who he refers to ass "Slamc**k") at the end, which sets up some very interesting upcoming cards.

LKT,

They recruited out of the highschool. No affliation with the Kung Fu school. Most gangs are loosely based. It's not like the military, where you sign up or anything. It more like a friend refers a friend type of deal.

I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for the past 2 years. I can tell you that at first I wanted to be like the martial arts stars I grew up with like Bruce Lee, then I wanted to be like Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Well, after I went thru the physical forms, exercises, harsh dicipline, I realized that I was wrong. I did not have a clue what martial arts was really about until I met my Grandmaster who took me aside and explained that my thinking was totally wrong and I needed to research the arts to really understand it.

Now I practice the arts with a open mind and a positive understanding of why it is important, not only for body and protection, but for the mind and to enhance my character.

Right now I am a green belt but hopefully by October I will advance to blue.

To anyone who wants to take up martial arts, regardless of which one, I say Go for It! You will be very surprised and glad that you did.

Ac Dropout:

Which Gang was It that you joined in NYC? Was it the one that taught you Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu?

I knew some white kids in High School who were taught Kung-fu by a Gang Sifu but they didn't have to join the gang and just only to learn Kung-fu.

I was wondering if it was the same if you were asian that you can't just learn kung-fu but had to also join the gang.

BEEN THERE,

More like I was frustrated being picked on by other ethnic gangs. Not to mention pretty poor at the time. So as adolesent logic dictates it made total sense to join an asian gang.

Not something I'm proud of. But a mistake I made and willing to share the experience with other to let them know its not what it is crack up to be.

Those gangster girls. Trust me most have pretty f*** up home life, like the guys.

AC,

I'm not understanding you when you mentioned Asian gangs. Did you mean you hated them and used them as inspiration for pent up hatred?

I used to live in the city off and on. Whenever I passed by their turfs they would kind of stare you down to see if you were in the mood to get your ass beat. They did have some goodlooking babes that were really hard not to look at but if you did..whoop ass time!
