WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
I am shocked to a degree that eurasian kids are arrogent. As a future father of eurasian kid. I will enforce an "no tolerance" policy toward arrogance and the like behavior.
Now that i write this, an incident did come to my mind with an eurasian person. They did in fact have a superiority complex. OH NO
I dont know why but, I have developed a dilike of male children. I know it sounds crazy of asian tradition. But i feel they are their to rebel against their fathers. (I know i did) I dont think i can handle that. Everyone is surprised when i say, hope my kids are girls. I wouldent mind having a son but i'll be very hard on him. Little girls love their dad's so much and are just so cute. did i say that?

Hannybunbun,
what is significant in the "Hapa culture" you mentioned. I know some Hapas but I didn't realize that there were standards for "Hapa culture".

For Hannybunbun, Hank Lewis and Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18...
First, thanks for the replies. I had a lot to get off my chest! :-)
Hannybunbun and Hank:
I hope I stressed enough that I wasn't trying to knock you or anything. I was just drawing on all my years of personal experience of being mixed and the experiences of people I've known along w/the attitudes of those I have met or come across. If you didn't see the comment from Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18, please see her comment from Sun., 6/30. I've also read some of the other links on this site referring to Hapas and how some of the parents can't understand why their children have become so arrogant. I think as long as you keep a close eye on it, you will be fine. Best of luck to you!!
Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18:
Thanks for the comment. I don't understand the phenomenon either but I have certainly noticed it!! It's very prevalent among Hapas. Perhaps it comes from the similar experiences that Hannybunbun and Hank have gone thru & will continue to go thru. Older Asians and whites constantly telling them how beautiful their children are. I just wonder if these people compliment as many pure Asian, pure white, or latin or black children as they do Hapa kids. Doubtful. They're just infatuated w/the mixture. NOT saying the kids aren't cute. They may very well be. I'm just saying the people dishing out the compliments may not be doing it just for the sake of providing a compliment. Many are probably doing it out of an actual compliment for the mixture alone.
Hannybunbun and Hank Lewis...
Something else you may be interested in. I came across a site that might help since you both expressed interest in helping your children have strong identities! I just came across this site while surfing the web and thought I'd share it w/you. Check out www.mixedfolks.com. There's a special section for Hapas. Enjoy!
Please stop the patronizing!!

Sociologist:
"But, one good point about white Texans, they openly tell you that they do not like you because of the color of your skin!"
Not all White Texans would feel that way about you because of the color of your skin. Maybe if you walk around with a chip on your shoulder and a bad attitude it might make some folks of any race from any state not like you, but it has nothing to do with the color of your skin.
I don't know if I like you or not, Sociologist. I only know what you post on the website. Some of it I agree with, some I don't. Sometimes you come across as either an agitator or a pedagogue. Whatever...

Sociologist and Political:
Sorry, but even the elections, including who wins and who loses, and what race they are do not speak for the entire state of Texas nor do they speak for individual White folks who live there. They speak only for those who voted for one candidate over another, and even that doesn't tell the whole story.
You can't cast everyone who voted for George W Bush as "evil" or "good" anymore than you can cast everyone who voted for Al Gore like that either. There are ignoramuses and racists in both political parties and not all of them are White either, bud. Some of these idiots do something called "voting a straight ticket"--meaning they mark only one box, "all Democrats" or "all Republicans" without conscience to what those individuals stand for.
Boxing all Whites in the State of Texas according to who wins the Senatorial election is a very ignorant thing to do. Both of you are more intelligent than that.
