WHAT YOU SAY

Dear All,

I am a 35 year old woman of Vietnamese descent and I am married to a 37 year old Italian man of Nordic features (blonde, blue eyes, etc). Together we have a daughter who turned 15 years old three months ago. As a birthday present from us she requested we finance for her to get Rhinoplasty (to add a stronger bridge, make her nostrils and overall nose shape narrower with the end pointier) and for Eyelid surgery (to remove what was remanent of her Asian eyes and their almond shape). She had the operation and she is very, very happy with the results. At first I disapproved of her wish for the surgery as I felt betrayed and hated, because I saw the surgery as a way of her saying, "had I not been Asian she wouldn't have needer to get the surgeries done because she wouldn‘t have Asian blood running through her veins to begin with". But then I realised she only wanted to accentuate her features. And indeed she does look prettier, because her new features are prettier (not because they look white, they just happen to occur in Caucasians and not Asians) and she no longer show any Asian heritage in her appearance. A week ago she asked why I didn’t get Rhinoplasty and Eyelid surgery as well. And she has been very persistent, and insisting I get it done because she loves me and would like me to look prettier. I have considered it, but as yet haven’t reached a decision. I was hoping people can give me their advise and opinions on the matter.

I think that everyone should just f*** off and let people do whatever they want to their own bodies.

People have thier own minds and it's thier body so hey can do watever they want to it. But it not the best thing to do to alter the way they r. It's a self-esteem issue

most asian people wants double eyelid, bigger eyes, narrower or higher nose, etc.. but i think its best being natural because changing ur facial features is very insecure and it'll look wierd on some people.. i have big eyes and high nose and if i make them tighter and make my nose smaller i would look pretty funny. don't u think^_^. soo don't change ur facial features because small nose and small eyes r verry attractive and unique.

aside: therapy may not work. A few "therapists" that I have met seem to be uninterested and just seem to be in it for the money. All they wanted to do was keep prescribing and sit there to collect their money.

Asians who hate their features (nose, eyes, head shape, forehead, etc, etc..) feels this way not because they hate who they are, but because they are made to hate who they are and what they look like. And to tell you the truth, let them become as Caucasian as they want (as they can), because at the end of the day they will never reach their ideal. They will always know they are Asian, and that is what hurts them the most, not the fact that people can see they are Asian, its the fact that they themselves KNOW they are Asian, and they will always KNOW they are Asian, and this is very upsetting for them.
No matter how much they change their appearance, no matter how much money they invest in concealing their race, they can't go to a surgeon and pay him to change their racial ancestry, their heritage, there parentage and their genes for their future children (even if this could be done, the child produced wouldn‘t be theirs, it may as well have been adopted). I truly feel thankful that these Asians were born Asian, I hate to even think, had they been born Caucasian, they would be the most racist white-extremists on the face of the earth, dragging Blacks, Hispanics and Asians tied to their vehicle along the road until they died. I bet if they were born white then they wouldn’t be so PRO-surgery for Asians to look more white, because they would feel threatened that the yellow race would be trying to infiltrate their domain and corrupt their gene pool.
An asian who don't want asian-self-hater to be included in our race Great Yellow Race.    Friday, October 05, 2001 at 09:48:52 (PDT)
alot of beautiful people don't feel that they are. sometimes it's all in the head. maybe before getting surgury, they should seek some therapy...

i think that people have personal issuse. sometimes people are extremely beautiful, handsome, cute, etc. but the way they feel inside makes them see themselves differently. i have friends who are gorgeous, but feel as if they are just he opposite. i think before considering surgery, consider therapy!!!!

don't get surgery if you are "on the fence". I used to feel horrible about my body --really flat when I was extremely thin, and wanted to get implants. Now I'm fatter, and though I am definitely not "buxom", I don't feel it is necessary, given the risks and required upkeep(repeated surgeries every 5 or so years, I've heard recently). Now I'm feeling it's a relief that I didn't have the money to get the surgery. I also had worse self esteem when I was most wishing for implants. I'm not saying that you shouldn't get them to improve your feelings about your body image --just that it may not be necessary. For a better sense of body image, try different approaches first. It's quite a serious solution to choose a surgical approach.

While I have respect for all peoples, I personally dont find white noses very attractive, they seem too narrow.

If I had to choose a nose, I would pick a middle eastern one, strong and chiseled, or a cute asian one.

Just my opinion.

I am half jewish and half chinese.
I inherited chinese eyes, wide powerful jaws, high cheekbones from my mom and I love all those features...

While I respect the opinions of those who opt for plastic surgery, I believe people should work on their self-esteem and learn to love the way they look, especially if a feature is part of their race. If a woman is happy with herself but prefers to look more beautiful then I would say ok. But if she is suffering emotionally, then she needs to deal with the real issue and not just the symptom, which is having a feature she doesn't like.

And for all the powerful asian girls who realize the beauty in sexy asian eyes and cute asian noses, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Black women are beautiful, but people really shouldn't try to exemplify the beauty of a black women through mixed girls like naomi Campbell, jamaican/chinese, iman, somalian, a people with arab/black blood...tyra banks also mixed...let's hear about some real black women.
