WHAT YOU SAY

I don't understand why asians want change their looks? What's so bad about looking asian? Have you ever met an asian plain jane? Even the most average asian girl is easy on the eyes. Not to mention great skin and hair.

I personally think slanted eyes are mysterious and sexy. Tyra Banks, Claudia Schaeffer, Karen Mulder, all are consider the world's most beautiful women. All have asian-ish slanted eyes. If asians are inferior in looks or sex appeal, then why are there so many american men who dies to date asians?

But what's most beautiful about asian girls are our warmth, caring, respect for others, and modesty. Most of us are well mannered, educated, and with charming personalities. That's what makes a person beautiful, the superficial stuff is only a bonus. Next time you're out, look around, you just might noticed a lot more people admiring you than you'd think.

You go, girl! Give it up for AZN girl with no self-esteem issues!!! She hit the nail on the head! I have tiny lids, but you know what? I...don't...care. Also, I don't have the supposedly typical double lids commonly found in someone of S.E. Asian descent. I've always had people compliment how cute my eyes are when it crinkles up whenever I laugh. Better still, people even say my eyes give off a sense of warmth. I really like that because it tells others I am approachable. And I really am approachable. So eyes are the windows of your soul. Are you trying to tell me getting your eyes cut up to make it look bigger will achieve that? I don't think so. You either have it, or you don't.

I am so sick and tired of the excuse "it's esier to put on make up with double lids, and that's why i'm getting it done". That is a load of sh*t. Why don't you shave your hair cause its easier to apply hair spray. Why don't you remove your nose, becasue it'd be easier to breath. Duh.
Hunny, if indeed you get the eyelid surgery done, and say you're doing it because it makes putting make-up on easier, then that's all the surgery will do! It will make the make-up applying easier, full stop. Nothing more, nothing less. If you looked ugly after having applied make-up when you had the mono-lid (asian eye), after the surgery you will still look ugly with make-up on your new doucle lid. If you looked pretty with makeup on your eyelids with the mono, then you will look just as pretty when applied to the double. Becasue, as you said, all it does facilitate the application process of make-up. And since when do we, as human beings, mutilate our god-given bodies to make the application of "make-up", an artifical and man made invention, onto our bodies. To mutilate yourself just becasue it makes it easier to apply eyelinner or eye shadow if really sad. Why don't white people make themselves all black skinned, because that way it would be easier to apply sun-screen. It's idiotic!!!!! Just as idiotic as your suggestion.

If I had the money to spend I wouldn't mind getting cosmetic surgery to get my mono-lids creased. not becuz i'm ashamed of my asian eyes but becuz i think it would be so much more easier to apply makeup and to get more dramatic looks. eyes say a lot. but since i don't have such money to blow i'm quite happy with what i have.

Hey AZN girl with no self-esteem issues,

You are perfect!!! Don't ever let anyone else tell you different. Another thing about beauty is being confident and satisfied with who you are. If you have that, it makes you that much sexier and you obviously have no problem in that department.

Why is it everyone associates bigger eyes as prettier, thinner noses as better, larger busts as more feminine? My eyes are single-lidded. I have a small button nose. And my boobs, although not large, are perfect for my frame. I think I look nice, and no, I'm not conceited, just confident. No one has ever told me I was unattractive. There are many asian girls who look like me. Why would you want to change?

I'll admit I really wanted to have surgery done on my eyes. Funny thing though, I have double eyelids, but I thought my eyes were on the small side, and I wanted them bigger. I guess my wanting surgery stemmed from several incidences with white people, always the white people, who called me chink, jap, or gook (their words, not mine) while I was growing up. I'm not any of these ethnicities.

I should have developed a thick skin, but those slurs hurt me a lot. I figured if I had surgery, then they wouldn't say those horrible words to me anymore. My chat with my mother changed my outlook on eyelid surgery. She told me she experienced name calling when she grew up, too. I couldn't believe it! My mother. She had these large, luminous eyes. Why would anyone say anything to her?!

Anyways, my mother said it didn't matter if I went through with the eyelid surgery. She explained that to white people, we all look alike, and no amount of eyelid surgery would change that. Hallelujah! I saw the light! I no longer desired bigger eyes. Perhaps maybe that's the reason why so many Asians want double eyelids. It's their way of wanting acceptance. Acceptance by who? White people.

I've learned a valuable lesson. No matter how much surgery you have, if you aren't willing to accept yourself as is, then no one else will accept you.
