WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Hey guys....
I am considering plastic surgery but am not quite sure how to protect myself legally.....say in the event the surgery goes bad, what can I, as a consumer do?
Or you can provide me with some sort of useful links...that'd be great, too.

"...Packaging is everything!"
I wholeheartedly agree!!!
Another tip for packaging yourself... find that special someone who truly loves you. Nothing lifts the morale and makes you feel as beautiful as being with a man who thinks you are adorable (even if you're not as exciting to look at as the Sports Illustrated Supermodels).

Lexxi Lee is SOOO RIGHT!!! ^.^
Yet, the luckiest, most blessed ppl are the ones who could feel "beautiful" & carry themselves well without needing cosmetic surgery. *sigh*

I agree that beauty is much more than outward appearences, or as you put it: "the way you cary yourself". However, some people need "a little nudge" to *feel* beautiful. Sometimes that nudge is a new dress, losing 10 pounds, or cosmetic surgery.

"i think beauty is all in the way you carry yourself....i have a flat, square shaped face. my nose is small, and flat. i have small, slitty eyes and a small mouth. that doesn't sound pretty at all, but if you carry yourself well, anything can be pretty."
Hey, I agree! It's all in the way you present yourself. If you say your description doesn't sound "pretty," here's what you write instead:
'flat, square face'= angular and exciting face
small and flat nose=small and delicate nose
small mouth=feminine but sensuous lips
Welcome to the language of "FASHIONESE!" Otherwise, how would some so-called "supermodels" be considered even attractive?! Packaging is everything!

i think beauty is all in the way you carry yourself. i don't think i have the greatest features in the world, but people compliment my looks all the time. i have a flat, square shaped face. my nose is small, and flat. i have small, slitty eyes and a small mouth. that doesn't sound pretty at all, but if you carry yourself well, anything can be pretty.

Here's a kooky queston:
A person is half asian, half white, and "looks" white to most people. This person has surgery that causes his/her eyes to "look" more asian. What's your opinion? Would you think differently if the person was a man or a woman?
On the train last week I overheard two people discussuing this as a potential "30th birthday present". I thought it was weird and just felt sorry for the person (obviously low self esteem). Wadda think?

SIRC released a recent report which says "Attractive people have distinct advantages in our society...Studies show attractive applicants have a better chance of getting jobs and of receiving higher salaries. One U.S. study found that taller men earned around $600 per inch more than shorter executives."
Hamermesh says the main qualifier is symmetry of features. He says, too, quality of features is more important than weight -- up to a point.
Amy Hemp-Monagle, a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the University of Texas, agrees with Hamermesh. She says psychological literature suggests people are judged more favorably if they are more attractive -- particularly with first impressions. Because attractive people are judged favorably through first impressions, they are also perceived as having other positive attributes -- such as above average intelligence, more fulfilling lives and job success.
