WHAT YOU SAY

The Asian community in Los Angeles consists mostly of white-collar professionals in all industries as well as entrepreneurs, not just in tech, like the Bay. -steve

if you're going to make an argument, you should at least try to be truthful. in making that statement, you are ignoring close to the entire asian enclave in san gabriel valley. as well as the koreans in ktown. and the japanese in torrance. the vietnamese in orange county, etc. these are *all* middle class to poor neighborhoods. who are you trying to kid?

if you're going to spend only $600K to buy a house in the bay, of course you're going to live next to a "hillbilly". you make that statement as though it was supposed to have a point.

keep in mind, this board concerns the lifestyle of the cities--not which city has more rich people. one does not necessarily lead to the other. you talk so much about old and new money--which leads me only to believe you are insecure about which class you belong to...and that it is unlikely the former. we hardly ever talk about money or put others down with such talk. it's tasteless, you know.

some other facts you may not be aware of:

the school that you attend has a lot to do with how much money you will make in the future.

ucla is the *only* one of the uc's that offers a class in ebonics. didn't know that, didja? =)

Haha... Steve, you keep repeating the same things over and over, and still insist on using verbal taunts. You keep mentioning the tech industry as if the Bay didn't exist before computers were invented.

Let me ask you something. How big is your house? What kind of work do you do? How much money do you make? It seems like someone who is soooo consumed with material wealth and the size of one's abode would just absolutely loooove to share with the whole world how much of a baller he is.

TSJ:

Local LA newscasts never mention El Monte. In fact, they rarely mention the San Gabriel Valley at all. As I said before, Asian investment is increasing there.

I just came across this site and there are some good topics. As far as the bay goes it's fine but I would not raise a family here. I plan on moving when I have saved up some cash. I'm not sure where I am going to go but it won't be here in the Bay. It's too expensive.

palo alto is nothing like brentwood. if you want to talk about affluent parts of the bay area, focus on the east bay--blackhawk, lafayette, orinda, etc.

places in southern california, like rancho palos verdes, remind me of those cities.

even so, the bay is known for its history and the rumor is that l.a. is filled with new money.

steve--i'm living in l.a. too and i love it. but let's be objective--people are not as classy as in the bay, and racism is much more prevalent.

you know up north, blacks actually kick it with asians who kick it with mexicans?

that's something i've yet to see down here.
