me,
Animal - do not deserve to stand on the same footing as human. Old Testiment Genesis 1:26
"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth"
I hate using book verse from old sunday school teaching. But it basically states human can do whatever we see fit with animals and this planet for that matter. It's a decree from God himself. It's a moral absolute, they have no soul. They're not going to heaven or hell. They're here for our benefit.
Donating the kid will allow him to go to a college. Donating to a college will just allow that establishment to exist, whether or not the college shares the wealth with that kid is another matter.
I use to know a few homeless people when I was in HS. They would brag about their slothful nature. They commited one of the 7 deadly sins. Or was it the 7 deadly venoms?
As bad as TSJ? We have similar thoughts on certain topics. I think he's pretty together. Thanks for the compliment.

Toi San Jai,
Clean up is good. Salmon spawing grounds...hmm...we have commecial farms for that species. I thought you were talking about greenpeace stuff.
"I hope you are not trying to mock me by saying future people being like me is a bad thing. =P"
I realise it could have been interpreted as that. But that was not my intention. Since no school of thought is universally accepted. Might as well promote your own in the name of self interest. To ensure like minded people will exist in the future.
"Hehe... well, I don't eat dogs. Do you? "
Not yet. I've only crossed off Buffalo, Alligator, shark, jellyfish and snakes from my exotic animal list. Whales, bears, and fugu fish are probably next to be consumed.
"If you were the CEO of a company, would you hire any one of those homeless guys to work for you"
If a homeless guy submited a proper resume to my company, and sucessfully went through the rounds of interviews at my company, I wouldn't see why I wouldn't hire him.

"As for the homeless, they aren't "slothful", they have to beg all day and life is a matter of daily survival. You're just as bad as TSJ."
Hehe... that's two against one! We win! =P
Anyways, we can agree to disagree, but it doesn't make us any lesser of people, or make us "bad." So, you are saying every person who passes by those "helpless" panhandlers on Market street every day is a bad individual?
What's not slothful about sitting on the street all day? Do most of them make an effort to do anything with their lives? Warren Buffett got to where he is for a reason. Mark Cuban got to where he is for a reason. Dirk Nowitski got to where he is for a reason. The homeless got to where they are for a reason.

AC Dropout, what kind of person wouldn't want to help an abandoned animal? That's sad.

TSJ:
"Alma Maters - That's good. It will perpetuate future people who will think like you. Philosophical Darwinism."
I think the schools shape who we are from the get go. I wouldn't be altering what the school currently does to begin with, just continuing on with the legacy. I hope you are not trying to mock me by saying future people being like me is a bad thing. =P
I'd hate to be mean, but I think AC Dropout's point is best taken by looking at which college you go to. Doesn't it say something that you weren't accepted by the other schools? Doesn't your current status in life say something to you? Or would you just like to accept and keep working hard because that is how you think everyone else got there?
Why in the world would you buy into philosophical darwinism if you're not even on the higher rungs? It's kinda like the bourgeouis pretending that they are rich. Again, what makes people do this instead of speaking out against the unjust system?
