Actually, that stereotype about asian men having small builds doesn't really bother me. You know why? That's because most white men, although they look big under a T-shirt, are relatively FAT (or at least have a good amount/layer of fat that makes then look deceptively larger with clothes on). I'm about your size, 5'8", 157 pounds (to the ounce). Very plain-looking, physique- wise. Almost skinny-looking, actually. Some of the meatheads look at me when I walk into a gym and I can see what they're thinking -- "Haha, I wonder how much HE can bench?" It gets them EVERYTIME when I see the looks on their faces dissappear when I bench my usual 3 sets of 12 reps of 245lbs. on the bench and my 315lb squat sets. I've been lifting for over 5 years. I can leg press well over 575 pounds on the plate-loaded leg press machine, and when I'm on that machine, most of the 45-plates in the weight room are gone. Of course, when I wipe the sweat off my face after a set, I stare them down, and they usually respond with a defiant (but definately threatened and intimidated) look, or they look down and away like a good little boy should.

I think that as long as you ARE strong as an ox (us Asians are like oxen in that we are very lean and have sinewy builds), there is nothign to worry about. Besides, if those fat bastards decide that they DO want to get in the ring with me, then who's gonna lose? I think you know that answer. Of course there are massively built and powerful guys, but for an 'average' man I am definately no pushover.

THat asian men are of small build. Since i heard that a few years ago, i started to work out, and now it has become an addiction. I try to get to the gym 5-6 days a week. (thanks to my ex gf) i'm not working out b/c she called me a fat bastard (though at the time i was only 160lbs @ 5'7"
now i'm the same weight, and lose 15% body fat (down to 17.1%) and now bench 225lbs ( from 45lbs) heh...
do women actually like guys who are of big build? (of course, no drugs, all natural)?

For a so called "educated person" your use of the African epidemic model as an analogy to our own highly flawed. The socio-economic, educational, cultural, resource schism is too vast to be equated to the situation facing the United States. Most Public Health students could tell you that. Its surprising they didn't teach you to properly decifer and understand global health issues and statistics in your medical school.

The website you indicated where the author of the website presents his "facts" as to why Asians have less AIDS is utterly, utterly flawed. And may I add that I have once before been forwarded to that site, and I was shocked to see the stupidity someone of supposed education as the author claims to have, could create and dispel such myths about HIV/AIDS. He is doing nothing more than propagating misconceptions and blatant lies.

All people in the medical profession would dismiss such an assertion of assuming the rate of AIDS indicates the level of Homosexuality in a population. And the "facts" presented in that website wouldn't deserve the second viewing of any educated person.

Such methods he employs to determine why the number of Asians who contract AIDS are so unscientific it is unfortunately not even funny, it's horrible to see that someone out there is prepared to disperse such lies.

I am utterly appaled by that site. And much more than that, i am distressed that people are taking what that site say as if it where the bible.

Let me set one thing straight. I was at no moment offended by the assertion that there are fewer gay Asian males. One reason for that being, that is simply not true. In my opinion and that of many respectable people of science and survey they have conducted there are as many gay Asian males per capita as there are gay males of other races. The reason I was offended and dismayed was not at the suggestion of less gay Asians but at the fact that someone could even be deluded enough to suggest that the prevalence of AIDS in certain communities is due to the levels and frequency of homosexuality. My concern towards what the exact number of gay Asians is apathetic. I just don�t care, It�s irrelevant to me. The only reason I chose to post was in regards to the issue of AIDS, and not homosexuality. The only reason I brought the whole issue of gays into my post is because someone suggested that the scarcity of homosexuality in Asians is the reason as to why there is less cases of HIV/AIDS. That is utter nonsense.
If someone had suggested that Asian have fewer cases of AIDS because Asians don�t have black skin or narrow high bridged noses (which is just as unscientific as saying that it is because we don�t have gay males) I would have concentrated on that stupidity and not on the gay issue.

I hope that put your mind at rest, and clear you of any doubt you may have had about my reason for posting. My agenda here is nothing more and nothing less than to represent the truths about AIDS.

I find it difficult to believe that an Asian American woman is posting about being offended by an assertion that there are fewer gay Asians than gays of other races, but she sees no need to post a response to Curious WF who alleges that there are significantly MORE gay Asians than other races. My take is that Janet = Curious WF = EL = Observer = Catullus = Okey Bokey = Brian, etc. You are quite obviously attracted to gay Asians as you have so much anecdotal "evidence" readily at hand to give us, such as the fact that you see numerous Asian transexuals advertising in magazines. So why are you reading those ads? Why don't you just come out of the closet and stop trying to put down AM's to assuage your guilt.
