WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
The Chinese Miss Universe contestant was like 6 feet tall and probably weighed all of 120 lbs, that is hardly representative of the average Chinese woman.
What is it about the strict standards of thinness in asian culture? Please explain.
too thin

be,
"Are you sure about that? That sounds disgustingly lanky to me"
I lived in Taiwan, HK, and China when I was in college. Trust me by Asian standards 95lb. and 5'4" is pretty much what girls strive for over there. But then they have different diets and lifestyles also.
On the flip side when these asian first come to American. One the first comment they have is everyone in American fat?
To change it would have to effect their bottom line. If girls are still willing to diet and excercise to lose weight to meet the ideal figure, then the bottom line will not be effected.
The Fashion industry have the plus store now for larger women also.
Cultural acclimation.

"By asian standards 95 lb and 5'4" is a bahemouth ready for liposuction."

"Ah Ha!
"POWER and MONEY!!"
There is a realist hiding underneath all the spiritual mumbo jumbo you keep posting."
Yeah, its unfortunate money and power must be at risk for any change to occur. That's the society we live in. Isnt it sad that millions of young teens are harming their bodies by starving themselves to fit that thin image of beauty...yet this is not severe enough for the fashion industry to change.

Ah Ha!
"POWER and MONEY!!"
There is a realist hiding underneath all the spiritual mumbo jumbo you keep posting. But only when it comes to fashion I see.
By asian standards 95 lb and 5'4" is a bahemouth ready for liposuction.
Anyway just look the 3rd place Miss Universe, Miss China, for the standard asian beauty. Thin, no bulging muscles, and full of smiles and giggles.
