WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
well, I didn't know where to put stuff about print media, so I found this forum, which is the closest match...
The American Eagle Outfitters webpage has some Asian models on it. I dunno if I can put up a link here, but its:
www.ae.com
It features both an Asian male AND an Asian female on the site... kewlness!
The ultimate would be seeing the AM/AF model in an embrace like the white models do on that website, but hey this is a promising developement anyway. I used to get a kick out of seeing AM models paired with WF or other women, but I think its way cooler to see a hot AM/AF pairing in print media.
AE is cool....

speaking of mad tv...
there was a skit just last week, and if any of you are familiar with the character "trina" you might know how this goes...she was applying for a job, and the employer asked her where she worked before, she said "hot wasabi" and he goes "oh is that a suhi bar?" and she says "no, its a gay asian strip club, my job was to answer the calls, and buy EXTRA SMALL condoms"...and that bobby lee dude also participated in the skit "Average Asian" where it was all about the stereotypes of an asian, like being good at everything esp. at school, but the character (bobby lee) wasnt good at everything, and so he was called "average asian"...yah i agree madtv does a lot of racist skits towards asians.

Anybody seen The Hot Chick? I checked it out last night, and one of the girls is half korean, half black, and her korean mom is constantly trying to appeal to her black side, by trying to act "black". It was funny at times, but mostly just on the stupid and silly side.

Listen to hank lewis and watch firefly. fridays at 8 on fox. If the show fails it will just give additional proof to the networks that asian influenced shows suck and are not viable. Like martial law and all american girl. While the show doesnt have any obviously asian main charachters, asians can be seen throught the show. And thats alot better than most shows nowadays.
It also shows something different than the all-white futures (and present for that matter *cough* spiderman) that most media tends to promulgate. A majority of the people on the planet speak chinese, and it only makes sense that most languages would be influenced by china, much the way that english can be found mixed into most languages these days.
The show seems to be the only one with a mixed cast, thats not marketed to a specific race. Half of the main cast is non-white.
As for which station is least asian freindly? I'd have to say all of them. I think the problem is that asians have been doing so well in general, that people are not very quick to lend a helping hand. If you complain about the lack of asians on tv, they'll just tell you to swim around in your riches, and stop complaining when you have things so good. Off centre I think is the only show on tv with an asian main charachter. (high school high doesnt count)
As for that guy on fear factor. He had a major inferiority complex. "No one has ever seen an asian boy like me." Thats one of the dumbest things I've ever heard on TV. He's right, noone has ever seen an asian boy like him... that's because most people his size consider themselves MEN.
All that bluster, and then at the end he's practically crying. I hope to god that's not the future of the asian male in america. I may be asian, but theres no way I'm supporting that guy.

The character of Bobby on King of the Hill is a total asiaphile- he is only interested in asian girls? A little odd.

Did anybody see King of the Hill last night when Connie's cousin from L.A. came to visit? Man, it was hilarious cause I know so many girls that act like her. If you saw it you know what I'm talking about.

Yeah now there is nothing on Fear Factor to make it interesting and the last one had no minorities at all and the two blacks - one man and one women who were there were booted off in the first round and the guy who won was a flake who won his fake butts for aiming a car correctly.
I think that was the most lame episodes they had. No eating gross things just some balancing stunts and walking through glass and aiming tricks.
Young Luminary was right that the white girls there didn't like the asian guy there. They were even more shocked that the Asian guy could actually call on their bluff and insult and rag at them back as well. They didn't think he would be a showoff and have a physique or even talk back to them. The big white guy was at a loss for words when he told him to "Hurry up Redneck" and all they wanted to do was to show up the Asian guy but the asian guy won anyway. I wish I had taped that show because it was great watching the interactions and the horrors in the others face when they tried to show the asian guy up and they lost.
They should have more Asians competing. We showed those bastards out there that we are a force to be reckon with and it is about time we get the damn airtime we deserve. Hard to say with the media pro-white and hardcore extremist with their interpretations of asians.
Jeez, we represent 4% to 6% of the US population still most of Americans still can't see us anything different than engineering, boring, stay with parents geeks who can't get a date because of lack of social skills and when it was time to date we were thirty, can cook chinese foods with ancient chinese secret in cooking and in dry-cleaning, can do martial arts and drive a low ride speed racer type, smoking a cig and reading a anime type people.

I was just stating the fact. I am not a politically correct person. I don't believe in sugar-coating the truth or fact to make people feel better. Funny how you would just assume that I was Black just because you did not like the fact.

To Young Luminary
Young Luminary are you a black dude. Sounds like you are to me. You're very negative and hostile towards asian males. What happen, did an ASIAN GUY steal your WHITE GIRLFRIEND? It is quite obvious that you had a bad experience interacting with an asian guy because if you did not, you would not be up in here putting down the ASIAN MAN. Stop hatting dogg.
We're all human first, before anything else. Remember that

Young Luminary,
ya, but you can say this about anybody. someone from from x group can say this about y group that they either this or that and will find some stupid excuse not to like them. But who cares if they like us or not, we probably don't like them either. And those girls from fear factor, I don't see them dislike the guy cause he's asian. They dislike anyone who they are competing, even their white partners. I really don't see this as a racial issue. If no asian guys is there, you see girls and guys still talking s*** about each other. Part of the game. People can say mean things but who gives.

Well, if there is one group that *most* (NOT all) White women detest more than Asian men , that group must be Asian women. White women *generally* see Asian women as a threat and competition.
Of course, *as a group* Asian American female population is NO ally of Asian American males (i.e., in fighting for equality in America; White men seem to be the natural ally of Asian women.) Asian men are pretty much on our own.

My last post:
"...White women in general do NOT like Asian men anyway..." (by the way, I was refering to AMERICAN White women,)
Grrrr. I said "IN GENERAL". Of course there are White women out there who do not dislike or like Asian men, but that is NOT the general case. You know it, I know it. And obviously the White women in the previously mentioned episodes of Fear Factors did not like Asian men, so they looked for excuses to trash their Asian male competitors.

Well well, Shi Ann got booted off. She should have defected when she had the opportunity. Robb is the scum of the earth (mentality of a 14 yo boy), Penny and Erin are just petty bitches. I hope either Brian, Jake, Ken wins. They're not as nasty as the others.
