I'm Jewish. Unfortunately, the rabbis never let me in on the international conspiracy to control the media. I want to apologize for my grandparents. They were run out of their countries during the pogroms. They came here with no money and no education. 2 generations later, I was taking up a spot at an Ivy League school. I apologize for this as well. It should have gone to some "real" minority. I, like 50% of Jewish people, am of Ashkenazi lineage. I'm blond and have green eyes. My sister looks Aryan (blond and blue).

Aside from being Asian (where is Israel? Asia), I imagine that we Jews have a difficult time understanding other Asians. When your parents came here, they had ample opportunities. When my grandparents came here, and even when my parents were growing up, there would be classifieds in the New York Times with the disclaimer: Jews need not apply. No, we can't understand because we paved the road that you now walk. Sure, there are bumps in it, but at least you have a road.

Insofar as Jewish influence in the media, take a look at the most popular magazine in the country -- People. Go down the editorial section and count the East Asian names. Granted, Jewish people have a strong foothold in Hollywood. Why? We weren't allowed to work in other professions. We created Hollywood so we could have jobs. Are you going to give us flak for inventing monotheism too?

Restricting the rights of any group in this country is inherently anti-American. And as proud as I am of my ethnic identity, I am thrilled to be an American. I don't know what "power" I have, but apparently Hello Kitty feels threatened by it. I suggest she, and those of you who share her thoughts, look at the contributions that ALL of the ethnic groups have made in the country. The USA is a wonderful experiment. Outcasts and refugees came from all over the world and lo an behold -- a great country. As an American, I will fight for my civil rights and the civil rights of others. You are certainly entitled to express your opinion, but I wonder how you'd feel if the Japanese were put into camps again. Or if the Chinese were forced to rebuild the railroads. If you want restrictions on Jews, don't hesitate to move to Afghanistan. They treat women well there too.

As an Arab-American I am relieved to see that im not the only one who's aware of the thinly-veiled (and, I might add, successful) attempts by Jews to turn everything on TV into pro-Israeli propaganda. There was also a Holocaust of Armenians and Christian Arabs in the early 19 hundreds that no one hears about.
But for those of you who are so pre-occupied with the image of AA's in the media, esp. their perception beauty-wise, I understand how you feel. But I really wish you woul'nt take it so seriously! I for one am not fooled by the media's scewed representation of minority races. There are tons of beautiful Asian people, and everyone knows it. Whoever tries to say otherwise is just mad because she lost her boyfriend to one.

What about that Japanese American Chick Karen Maruyama who played the hotel maid on the "Jamie Foxx Show"? She is portrayed as an ugly lush who'll jump into bed with any White or Black guy, no matter how fat or ugly he is! YUCK! Why do comedians like Jamie Foxx think it's "okay" to make fun of AFs that way but get all riled up when others make fun of Blacks in the same fashion?

Chow Yun Fat is definitely a heart stopping, heart breaking heart throb!!! And Ming Tsai..on The Food Networks channel...has done wonders to introduce East/West cooking to those otherwise not exposed to it. His graceful manner, warm presence, and gorgeous body even propelled him onto People Magazines "50 Most Beautiful People" issue last year.
Me, I am still fuming they took "Vanishing Son" off the air. Russell Wong in my home every week -what a treat. It dropped in the ratings because they couldn't leave it alone. It started off a sensible plot , but before you know it they had to make his dead brother a ghost, add almost slapstick martial arts...in other words..make it the "white man's" concept of Asian programming and turn it into little more than a cartoon . What a shame. Hope the writers are unemployed and spending their days watching Russell Wong videos and crying over their loss.

The Jews in media like to have it their way all the way. You see, apart from being short, long-assed, stumpy, and dark-haired themselves (hey, Sarah Silverman's a good example), they can pretty much pass for whites and assume a dominant role in society. But at the same time, they want to enjoy the advantage of playing underdog as well in order to reap even more advantages. So you get the bitch, bitch, moan, moan, 'the Nazis were horrible and we must never let that happen again' or 'Oh, we understand the plight of the Asians because we're a highly educated minority group ourselves.' Yet, it's perfectly fine to play Nazi with Asians, blacks, and Latinos.

Oi vey, I'm sounding s-o-o-o politically incorrect. I must be watching too much Silverman.

I agree with Orangelo about the number of black and white actors who aren't drop dead gorgeous if we are just going to consider the looks issue alone. Especially white actors like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Aniston (to name a few!): they're short, have huge heads, long bodies and short legs. In other words, ordinary but definitely NOT hot. And as far as men go, I wouldn't even know where to begin since so many of them on the screen are big time ugly! Yet, because they're white, all of their physical shortcomings are conveniently glossed over so that you'll have lots of women aspiring to look like women who are probably only a measly 4 out of 10. Good PR has done a lot for them...

So let's quit beating up on Lucy Liu and Lisa Ling and give Asians a chance!

I agree, Jews can dish it out but they can't take it. Marlon Brando made a comment about how Jews dominate the media or something like that. He got some heat for that comment boy.

Anyone see the commercial for the new show on ABC, "ALIAS"? Check it out. It has a familiar Chinese actor who always plays the bad Asian dude - not the one from Lethal Weapon 2, but from Last Emperor. He's got a white girl tied up and saying, "You are a pretty girl!" Then she head-butts him. Hmmm.

ASIAN ARE NOT PART OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

They might be in some very small circles
in the television media, but you tell me how many Asian women and men besides
Jet Li and hmm.. cant think of an Asian Lady get lead roles in real movies not just some damn cartoon like Final Fantasy and Mulan.

When Asian are featured in mainstream television they are usually and this mostly applies to the women either stupid or "crazed sex fiend" for the white man.
The truth the mainstream American movie goers as movie goers are prejudiced towards Chinese and I know this from being around my friends and family who will not watch a movie with an Asian lead in the role. My neighbors wife loves watching ghetto movies, but when Crouching Tiger was on, she all of a sudden got an urge to clean the house.

You know in order to see an Asian girl in love with an Asian man, you have watch Hong Kong films because you aint gonna find that going on much in Hollywood, I can only remember one episode of AirWolf where this was the case.

Asian men have to know Kung Fu and be teamed up with some stupid white like Mark Wahlberg or an idiotic foul mouth like Chris Tucker in order for Hollywood to make the movie.

I was suprised that Chow Yun-Fat made the impact he did in Hollywood, he is actually a heartthrob here now, but you wouldnt know that from the media. He doesnt know any Kung Fu which when u bring his name up everybody automatically assumes he is a martial artist because "all chinese males know kung fu". I know black women and white women alike that find Chow Yun-Fat to be a major hunk, but he is Asian so its never dicussed

Asian women fare much worse usually relegated to window dressing or they are always some helpless character who either needs some white persons help or is hot for the white mans body 24/7.

Cammy, so how can you tell me Asian are in the mainstream?
