>The Jews in media like to have it their way all the way.
>...they can pretty much pass for whites and assume a dominant role in society.
But at the same time, they want to enjoy the advantage of playing >underdog

As well, it seems they're white when they have something bad to say about themselves and jews when they compliment themselves. Just a pattern I've seen over the years.

One of the great things about this country is free speech. Another great thing is watching jackasses make fools out of themselves on national TV. My plea is for tolerance regardless of ethnic affiliation.

Note from: Tired of ignorant racists

It's been some time since I looked at this board. However, after seeing the angry responses to my post about Judaism, I feel compelled to write again. I'm doubtful that anything can be accomplished in a forum such as this. The reactions are so angry and full of venom.

My post was written as a response to the ones preceding it -- the ones that urged restrictions of the rights of Jews. My writing was not an attempt to marginalize or devalue the contributions of any ethnic group. One thing that I take from the bombing of the Trade Center (I live in NY) is that everyone who ran out, holding someone else's hand, was gray. That was the only color.

Asian Dominatrix,

You make some interesting points, but your logic is flawed. A few points.
1) I made reference to the difficulties of the Chinese when they first came here. My post was a response to anti-semitic BS, so the plight of the Chinese wasn't the focus.

2) You generalize from the specific. That is a common logical fallacy. Sarah Silverman is no more representative of Jews than Pol Pot is of Asians. Jesse Jackson called NY "Hymie-town" when he was considering a presidential run. The fact that he's still considered credible to many(especially in light of his more recent scandals) is astounding.

3) You write that "Jews complain about Asians taking up too many spots at the Ivies." I haven't heard this. Even if I heard a few people saying it, I would be "generalizing from the specific" -- a familiar them. I am an Ivy grad and can tell you that, having looked at the demographics, Jews are even more over-represented than Asians. There are roughly 6 million Jews in the US which represents just about 2% of the population. This is even less than the 4% you claim. Yet, estimates are that Jews make up anywhere from 15-30% of the student body, depending on the Ivy League school. There are more Asians in the States and they constitute roughly 15% of these schools across the board. (Quick aside: my friend who went to Oxford for his Ph.D. said that it was a "joke" compared to Brown. Every person is going to have a different experience. I don't know why the Americans are only familiar with Oxford and Cambridge when there are quite a few other good schools in England.)

4) This is petty, but so are all of these posts. You wrote, "A lot of Asians like myself have nothing but admiration for the Jews who gave their all to the Civil Rights movement." In later posts, you praise the virtues of English universities where the English language is concerned. Allow a Brown grad to correct you: "A lot of Asians like me have nothing but admiration for the Jews who gave their all to the Civil Rights movement." Myself is argotic vernacular at best in your sentence.

5) Finally, you talk about who Asians resent. Despite the fact that I'm Jewish and New Yorker, I couldn't presume to tell you what Jews hate about subject X or what New Yorkers feel about subject Y. You seem smart; I wish you weren't so prone to pontificating.

I don't use the N word or the C word or any of those words. I could curse all I wanted from the age of 10, but my parents told me from the get-go, "People have hated us because of who we are. We will not tolerate that behavior from our children.

We all bleed. Why must we get into this pissing contests is beyond me?

MediaMan:

Yupyup, let's start a channel that shows that Asians can be just as good as whites! Everyone talking in English so we don't have to be embarassed about our pesky cousins, parents, and aunts speaking foreign tongues. No broken English, no immigration talk, cuz FOBs aren't really Asian-AMERICANs. No foreign flavour - Asian-Americans wanna be just like everyone else. No talk about China cuz we're Americans and don't need the rest of the world. Normal White Americans, just with Asian skin!

The last thing the second generation needs is another example of a bunch of Americans of Asian descent cliquing together and pretending to be Asian when they are completely white.

My repost from a different section...

Here's an idea:

How about having a television channel exclusively about, for and by Asian Americans? We could show that Asian Americans are normal citizens (who speak fluent English) not aliens from another planet. All the programs would be in English, so no subtitles, no broken English, no accent, no alien/foreign flavor, no immigration talk, no China talk, etc. It's just about a normal American life of Asian Americans.

You could say that the channel is more for the second generation of Asian Americans rather than the recent immigrants. This does not mean I'm ignoring those people. I just think they are better served by the Chinese language TV or something like that that already exists. In fact, I believe that these recent immigrants would actually benefit from the stereotype-free TV.

I remember I saw a show on PBS with all casts being Asian Americans. I forget the title, but it was about a bunch of teenagers dealing with relationship, parents, money, etc just like any teenagers in this country. For the first time I felt normal in this country because I saw people I could relate to on television.

An All English-Language Television for Asian Americans....what do you all think about the idea? Are you for it? Take the future into our own hand. Who should we write about this to?

What was that HBO movie with Michelle Krusiec--the hot Eurasian babe in a G-String? I gotta see that!!!

The WB are bull**** racist along with anything Spelling puts out. Asian dude something Cho with two white roommates that conveniently have hot white babes as girlfriends. Oh, yeah...Cho's character works in Chinese restaurant.

Anyway, episode where everyone admits to owning pornos. One of the white dude's girlfriend comes over and catches her bfriend with porno. Jokes about masturbation. Girlfriend is okay with two white guys joking about masturbating to porno...but when Asian dude jokes about it, she says something like, 'when you do it it's gross!" How messed up is that!!!

Last scene is Asian dude sitting by himself with one couple watching pornno while Asian dude eat popcorn.

FINALLY! The episode of Dark Angel which aired last night (10/26, "Radar Love") showed a strong Asian Male in a focused role for the first time in a good while. Recurring character Det. Matt Sung (played by EurAsian Actor Byron Mann) was one of the key players in that episode.

A sick White Mad Scientist was testing a pathogen to target someone's specific genes for the purpose of targeting transgenics like Max and eliminating them. Det. Sung and Logan Cale were investigating a series of deaths in Chinatown, where the sick-o was doing a field test by using a pathogen keyed to the base DNA pairs responsible for the epicanthic fold. In the end, Det. Sung and Cale figure it all out, track the bastard down and Det. Sung shoots him dead just before he can waste Max the transgenic babe, saving her life.

Det. Sung has been a recurring character who is shown to be good ("the only honest cop left on the Seattle PD"), strong (he was tortured for hours once but didn't give up information on "Eyes Only"), and a family man (he has a wife and child.) Although he is just a recurring character, I read a post in the old GoldSea Air forum about him and I think that we need to do a letter writing campaign to make Det. Sung into a SERIES REGULAR on this highly popular show. It helps that Byron Mann is handsome, tall and good looking. What do ya'll think?

Flipping through the channels last night and came upon HBO... to my great surprise there was Michelle Krusiec wearing nothing at all but a G-string for 5 minutes of the show!! While extremely EXTREMELY thrilled to see Michele charms...I was so amazed and a bit melloncholy that she would portray such a stereo-typical role working in a massage parlor. Grrrrrrrrrr
Anyone have an opinion?
