WHAT YOU SAY

Well i'm 14 and I dont have a great relationship with my parents. They do not understand the pressures i recieve from society. They only add to it, and due to these pressues, without knowing itslowly slipped into a serious depression. But when I told my parents they gave me their oppinion from the asian point of view. Saying that its all in my head, and now from the depression I have a eating disorder. Along with that I constantly search for my identity in this country. My parents were the first I looked for answers from but they didnt help. My dad with his anti-chinese view saying that China is worse than the U.S. because of his influence on me as a child I grown up ashamed of my heritage. And my mom with her pro asian point of view saying that no matter what in this country were still a minority and we stick out like a sore thumb. That I should move to China after I get an education, were we'll be accepted. I think because that I am Chinese I have more pressure and problems to duel with than your normal american teenager.....who spends most of his time thinking about getting some ass or weed.....I tried to fit in to american society by placing the same values on myself(immature, no self control, lazy)but its never worked for me......I'd love to hear everyones views on my crisses.......

I think not just Goth but the punk scene I grew up with expresses how I feel now. Not the skateboard, surfer, Blink spas 182 deal but the real hardcore Post 1980's scene fitted my expression as a punk.
It is the best expression there is. I went to a art High School in the 80's at the time when conservatism was a all time high but even the preppies during that time wanted to look and act punk and it was cool to wear the long black trench coats, bomber jackets and black teeshirts with black combat boots.
The music was the best with Jesus and Mary Chain, Social Distortion, The Smiths, The Ramones, Cabaret Voltaire..etc. Totally rebel music as well as emotional and screw you music.
I really miss those days and music now everybody is into this rap crap music with the untune organ in the background and some rapper talking Bullshit about nothing and everybody is wearing clothes from the 1970's Brady Bunch fashions or stupid bellbottoms disco era.
Goth is pretty close to the scene I was into. Now it is called the rave or club scene but when I was growing up it was definately punk.

Hey all,
AC Dropout knows what he's talking about --we as asians DO NOT have the "who you know" rule going for us ... you'd BETTER have some paper credentials backing you up, because you most definitely won't have the white group there "putting in the word for you". Your parents who are putting the pressure on you to succeed academically are not wrong. I rebelled, and now I regret it.
