WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
As a western woman living in Japan
(15 yrs now), I wouldn't return to
North America and white men if Iwas paid to do so.
Although Asian women are seen by white men here as colonization territory,
a white women who CHOOSES to be with
an Asian man is assumed to have something wrong with her.
Weak, masochistic I am not! And the average Jpn man is NOT a ranting chauvinist. Quite the opposite when compared with the average white guy.
White men, get a life. And get over it.
For those of you who want to marry a "Jpn slave woman," all I can say
is dozo, be my guest. The divorce there is also quite dismal for many reasons which I may go into at a later date.
WWWLAM (white woman who loves asian men) and get flamed by all the white guys?

Hindi,
There is also a troop buildup near the India/Tibetan border in recent weeks. I think China will help the Pakistanis in this conflict.

World Traveler,
"a country with huge sex slaves sold all over the world can't hardly be called as the only Asian country that respects women. Unfortunately, the world is full of Mainland Chinese prostitutes forcefully brought over by Chinese sex slavery traders"
What kind of BS is this. All countries have prostitution issues. Because of Asian sexist culture that they are willing to allow less educated women become sex workers as an acceptable means of support. That is a reflection of culture. From Japanese night club from to ko-gal prostitutes. From Korean massage parlor to Thailand sex tours.
All asian countries are authoritarian. The are more police per capita in all asian countries. From Tokyo to Taiwan, from HK to China. Always a cop on every corner.

Madeline:
Your statement: "And you do realise that if a white guy even walks around with his Asian girlfriend in China he could get arrested?" is pure garbage. I am married to a Chinese woman. We have gone back to China to Beijing and Nanjing and had absolutely NO PROBLEMS walking around in public whatsoever. We werent' approached by police, soldiers or any Government officials We were there for a WHOLE MONTH and went to a lot of NON-TOURIST AREAS. We didn't see too many transethnic couples, but those we saw (including several WM/AF couples) were going about their business with no problems at all.
There was such a law about American/French men walking around with their Asian Girlfriends in VIETNAM, DURING THE WAR, unless they had an official document something to the effect of a "declaration of intent to marry", otherwise, they couldn't walk around in public together. That's probably what you were thinking of.

frowning,
Not to burst your bubble. But the problem of train harrassment has been a problem in Tokyo of a while.
That's when a perv takes advantage of Japanese women in crowded trains by slip a hand up a skirt or elsewhere. They are banking on the fact Japanese women are too embarrass to report the incident.
Happen to a friend on mine on vacation in Japan. But the attacker did not know she was a korean american with a gang history in her high school days. Proceeded to kick the crap out of the guy on the train like we were back in NYC. I basically yelled in English till the police arrived at the next stop.

"Asian man should have pride and be a real man":
There's no comparison between a western tourist and young American soldiers. Young boys, whether they are military guys or college guys, will misbehave frequently, especially during the night outings. It doesn't matter whether the groups of military guys are in Naples Italy or Soul Korea, many do misbehave.
By the way, the American military is present in only few towns and cities all over Asia. You mislead people by implying major cities like Tokyo is full of American military personnel. There are many foreigners in Tokyo but you just don't see GI Joes running around.
Now, it seems to me that your white friend was fearful not of the Chinese soldier himself but what he represents. The Chinese soldier represents tge government that still arrests without citizens' rights and incarcerates without due process of "constitutional" laws. There is something wrong when one feels fear from police or soldier when one has done nothing wrong.
A real man gains respect from others for what he does. Chinese solder gains fear of others by what his government can do to them.
I don't know who your American friends are. However, as for respecting women, a country with huge sex slaves sold all over the world can't hardly be called as the only Asian country that respects women. Unfortunately, the world is full of Mainland Chinese prostitutes forcefully brought over by Chinese sex slavery traders.
If you think the Koreans, Filipinos, Japanese, or any other Asians are any less proud or dignified, you haven't traveled as much as you like to think.
