I agree that at 5'6 and 115 as a teenager, you might not be full grown, so be a little nicer to yourself for being heavier when you are over 21 ...
I was dieting like crazy just recently and went from 140 (I'm 5'6) to 123 and that was too thin for me - I was starting to feel tired, and getting even flatter than ever! you know when you start getting that Ally McBeal body, you're overdoing it! yuck!!!
Now I think I'll stop shooting for 120 (my original goal) and stay around 125, or close to 130. I might be heavier, but I've got a lot of muscle in my legs and they are not big, but I know they must weigh a lot (they are not proportionally big, but I've definitely got more muscle on them than my arms).
Anyway girls & ladies, we should aim for optimum health, not just arbitrary aesthetics. (I'm trying to convince myself while I'm here...) but just a word on the debate over thin vs voluptuous -- I'd rather be voluptuous, but I have heard that curvy girls also tend to gain weight more easily. Fat is not the same as voluptuous. But elegantly svelte and scrawny & bony are not the same either! You gotta know when to stop!

size 4 and 6 is not too big, but it would look big if you were under 5'2. i guess its all about proportion. if you were about 5'5 then size 4-6 would be ideal.

Is a lady's height of 5'3 and 130 lbs. a little over weight for being an asian female? Just wondering.
I think that weight has a lot to do w/self-confidence. It's sad how our society bows down to tooth-pick sized models, and makes you feel bad for not being that thin; oh, especially when compared to those w/fake boobies made to look like Barbie. I'm 110, and feel very bad about it b/c I'm only 5'4, my weight is exceding for my age. I'm only assuming that my met' rate will go down anyway.
My bf keeps on talking about his ex, she's 130, so I'm kind of curious.
Well, I think that guys who are kind of chunky are cute in their own way. They're like teddy bears.
Weight More Weighted on Women

getting old sucks,
LOL..personally I don't, but I'm sure for every 1 guy that says the size ain't an issue, there's like 5 who say it is...=P
The curvy, voluptuous look has always been more attractive to me than the thinner look, but hey....to each their own.

getting old sucks,
I think size 4 or 6 is fine.
In my opinion some weight doesn't look bad at all. I know, the media says thin is "hot" all the time, but I don't think guys in real life are so fixated to women's weight so much unless she's going to extremes (under or overweight). I think all this deal about some of you getting more attention from guys when you're thin is because you feel more confident and you feel beautiful. But I'm pretty sure you girls get the same attention (or even more) without being thin but you don't realize it because you don't feel so good about yourself.

Jessica Mannila,
5'6" and 130 sounds okay, but if you want to look even better/be fitter you can lose some weight and get toned by working out (cardio and weights) and changing your diet.
When you were 18, you were 115 because you were still a teen and still "filling" out/ developing into a woman. Many girls are thin as teenagers, but your metabolism changes eventually...I know that virtually all of my friends and I have gained some weight since we were 18 (I'm 21 now).
Given your height at 5'6", I wouldn't aim to be 115...that might be a bit unrealistic...what about aiming for 118-120?
I would see your family doctor and ask him/her how to lose weight safely.

Me, I totally hear you. I miss the days when I was in my early twenties and stayed at 115 lbs with relative ease. Now I can't get below 124 even though I exercise and exercise. I think I'm going to try to take up jogging, I'm going to "just do it" like on the Nike commercial. :) I am more self confident when I'm thinner, I don't care if that sounds screwed up either.
Do guys think a girl who's a size 4 or sometimes a 6 is too big?

oh my god im in exactly the same situation as u are!!
when i was younger, as in a few yrs ago, i was alot skinnier, not stick thin but normal and i got a lot of attention from guys. i think it was partly from my self confidence and looks ( no bigheadness intended).
and then i started to gain weight these last few yrs, now at 18. and no guys look at me anymore. u know how u just walk down the high street and u know it whe ppl look at u becos u either stare at them straight back or see it out of the corner of ur eyes.
so now its like nothing. and my self esteem has gone way down. its like being pretty was something that was with me since i was a little and now its gone, theres this blank. it took me a while to realise it at first this was happening.
i know this sounds very shallow and big headed. im right now on the quest to lose some weight, im at 130 as well. i want to lose the weight, down to 115 or something. no way am i going to be too thin.
im stuck at deciding to stick with my weight and 'just be happy with it' or diet and go down and 'retrieve' my looks.
ppl say to me, ur fine as u are. u dont need to be thin to be happy. i know. but its not like i want to be 80 pounds or something. just a health weight. going thinner is something i want to try to see if i can find my esteem and 'happiness' again. i know that sounds really fucked up but hey....
Jess, i think u should do whatever u want to make urself happy, have self confidence again. if u want to lose weight, fine but dont make urself ill becos noone deserves that.
take care

How is 5'8" and 160 pounds for a guy? I have been working out all summer, packing on some muscle. I hope to be about 165-170, ultimately.
Working hard.
