I think that does sound pretty screwed up. If a size 0 is a medium, then what is a small, -2? Maybe it's because you are tall and probably have bigger bone structure, are most of the women in China shorter with smaller bones? I've seen other posts say that the girls in China and HK are wayyyy too skinny, like skeletons. Do you think they're naturally this way or that they starve themselves to fit the cultural ideal?

Overweight asians are not appealing. It's been like that for as long as we know. Asian culture just does not accept obesity. It's more of a "foreign" thing. You can thank the diet of Asia for the more lovely bodies. but over here 5'7" 125 is kinda fat.

I am not down with fat asian guys. The thick bodies and wide faces are just not pretty. I'd rather have a regualr or slim Asian guy than a fat Asian guy.

Hey all :)
I was born in Shanghai, China, but I came to the U.S. when I was 2, so I'm better at English than I am at Chinese. lol. I'm 5'7", 125 lbs., and a size 4-5 in America. Yea, i get hit on a lot wherever I am, I'm not trying to brag but that's the way life's been. Go to the supermarket, get asked out. Go to the drug store, get a goofy kid behind the counter drooling. go to mcdonalds, get my entire order for free. lol. or get my food brought to my table. Really, I'm not complaining, it's really fun.
Anyway I have a point!! I went to China this summer for about a month to visit my relatives there, get back down to my roots. And there is some GREAT shopping there, the clothes are all so pretty!! But I am an extra-large there!! Whereas I'm a small in the U.S. My cousin, who is 5ft6 and would probably be a size 0 here is a medium. Is it just me?? Or are these standards just a little unhealthy?? So anytime a girl wants to buy clothes there, she has to be reminded that she needs to be a walking skeleton to fit into a pair of nice jeans.
I'm an actress, and a model. I'm a full C cup. And from feedback from the world so far I always supposed I was a desirable body type. And I got hit on A LOT in China also, and in airports in Asia. Even though I'm not a size O. Be healthy girls, believe me, stick thin is not as attractive as it may seem. Just remember to smile!! :)

I agree with Kevin, Asian girl certainly do have it tough with all these standards, esp. weight. I think I would be able to 'tolerate' (not tryig to be arrogant) a Asian girl with a average body and cute face, as long as her attitude was somewhat tolerable. This is where many Asian girl fall TRAGICALLY short. Some of them are so insecure about themselves that they have to lash out to feel better about themselves. It could be how Asian parents are so critial of their kids. Ugh.
Just work out a lil, then work on your personalities or self-esteem.
