JUSTIN CHIN
Profession: Videogame Developer
Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York
Position: Project Leader, Lucas Arts
tar Wars junkies owe a debt of gratitude to Justin Chin. His storyline and artistic direction created "Dark Forces II," a first-person perspective computer game that sends young suburban jedi knights on a shoot-em-up quest through the legendary Death Star. Chin deals directly with the Lucasfilm licensing department which ensures that all creations within the Lucas empire conform to proper Star Wars Universe guidelines. "It was a dream job [working on "Dark Forces II". I got no handslapping after I proposed the story," says Chin. He considers his story as "out there," dealing heavily with the inner battles an individual wages between his "light" and "dark" sides.

Chin's formal training is in art. He spent his junior high school through college years taking classes at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. But he was too eager to start his career to finish college.

His first job at a small clip art company opened his eyes to the possibilities computers provide. He sought out game companies, landing artist jobs at Accolade, Sega and Nintendo before coming to LucasArts where he has remained for three years. Chin was born in Brooklyn, in 1967. His mother is part Chinese, part Indian and grew up in Jamaica.
