tephen Liu understands the contribution made by the Asian American professional to the American lifestyle. As President of APEX, it is his job to connect them together, to help each professional appreciate what his success means to the Asian community at large.
     "I really believe that Asian Americans play an increasingly important role in the social, political and economic landscape of America," says Liu. "We will shatter this relatively thin, sometimes imaginary glass ceiling, but we will do [it] together."
     He left a lucrative and growing position as assistant vice president and premier banking manager at Wells Fargo Bank to pursue his master's degree at USC and devote more time to APEX. While at Wells Fargo, he handled a $60 million portfolio of high net worth clients on the Palos Verdes peninsula. In 1995, he was the top investment management producer, bringing in over $22 million to the bank.
     He currently sits on the boards of several community groups--East West Players New Theatre Campaign, Asian Pacific Womens' Center and the Nordstrom Celebration of Cultural Diversity Committee, among others.
     "It is my vision to create a unified sense of community among all Asian Americans here in L.A. as well as across the U.S.," says Liu.
     Liu is single and in his rare free time, enjoys visiting the beach near his home and playing soccer.
