lbert Yu came to the U.S. as a young man to study electrical engineering at Stanford, eventually earning himself a Ph.D. His first job was as a member of the technical staff at Fairchild Semiconductor in Palo Alto. His first paying job was soldering cables for high energy physics experiments at Cal Tech during his sophomore year.
     As Senior Vice President, he was in charge of all microprocessor products at Intel as well as its microcomputer software labs and microcomputer research labs. He credits his success to his ability to work hard, make things happen, learn and foster strong team work.

     Having achieved such lofty heights at Intel, he cites his only regret as never having taught his two children (he is divorced) to speak, read or write Chinese. He enjoys tennis, swimming hiking and PCs in his rare free time and offers this gem when asked about what makes him unique. "I'm bald and unique!"
     His advice? "Embrace change, keep learning and doing what's exciting to you."
     Yu retired from his Intel post in September 2002, but remains active in the semiconductor field.
