Koreas Win Medals Together During Artillery Exchange
Two South and North Korean archers have received Asian Games medals standing side-by-side on a podium as their countries waged a military skirmish.
South Korea’s Yun Ok-hee won gold in the women’s individual archery competition, beating Cheng Ming of China in the final. Kwon Un Sil of North Korea won bronze and stood beside Yun when they received their medals.
Kwon, wearing a red team jacket, and Yun, with a multicolored team top, both stood with their hands behind their backs. They shook hands before Yun accepted the gold medal Tuesday.
Yun waved her national flag to a crowd of South Korean fans and held it up as all three medalists stood for photos.
