Are AA Women the Real Victims of Prejudice?

sian women get a free ride at the expense of Asian men. That's the received wisdom here in the U.S. This belief appears premised on the suspicion that American society sees Asian women as sexy exotics in need of rescuing from the cold clutches of Asian men who don't know how to smile except evilly.
AA Woman
The real victim?

Credit Hollywood for its tireless casting of Asian women as sexual accessories to white heroes while suppressing the very existence of Asian men except as unsavory paper tigers. Credit too the TV networks that uncover bevies of talking Asian women but rarely their male counterparts.
In fairness this media fantasy of the Asian race was partly inspired by recent history. Devastated and impoverished Asian nations sent tens of thousands of war brides and orphans, followed by several million desperate immigrants willing to hock their identities while toiling to build new lives.
Male-dominated societies toast new women as exotic sexual prospects while suppressing new men as an exploitable lower class or even enemy aliens. The women get all the breaks and the men get all the lumps. Even worse, the women have their heads turned and adopt a scornful attitude toward their own men. So goes the complaint of some AA men.
The women have a different take. Sexual predators bearing insulting stereotypes must be fended off while coping with women who see them as unfair competitors. Add to that the pain of being scorned as sellouts by AA men for no more reason than their apparent welcome by American society. Worst of all, complain AA women, is being begrudged the right to take simple pleasure in their own identities. How much easier just to face straightforward racial prejudice!
Do Asian women really have an easier time in America? Or do they suffer from the double-whammy of insulting stereotypes from non-Asians and unfair persecution from Asian men?

Asian Women are definately going to have an easier time in America than in Asia.
#1, even though the male-dominated society will use them (and all other good -looking women) as eye candy, They will be used as JUST THAT. White men arent going to just shift from White women to Asian women because of inherent prejudices and a growing conflict betwen America-Taiwan and China.

#2 There is a crisis growing in China and parts of Asia where abortions favoring boys are creating great gaps in the number of females available to men. This is refferred to as a "sex-crisis" and later on it will lead to mass kidnappings and stolen brides according to researchers in the field of human sexuality. Im certain that AA women are safer here.

At least in America, they have things like Minimum wage, HUMAN RIGHTS, and more money than their counterparts in other countries. They have a chance to be more than they would have had in their home countries in America.

Women of any race will never be free from being sexualized because people will always be people.

Asian female perspective

I’m an aam and this is my perspective.

You seem to try to reach a compromise between the am and af perspective on life. I don’t know about you but I don’t think opinions and beliefs are supposed to be compromised. I think we should state our opinions and beliefs and try to find out what is truly the problem. Once we’ve truthfully determined the problem, we can then resolve it quickly. If we keep compromising our beliefs and opinions we’ll never find out what the problem is and will never come to a resolution.

I do not think majority of the asian males think af as “sell-outs” just because they have opinions differing for those of am’s.

Let me give you my definition of an af “sell-out”. An af sell-out is a af who rejects her asian culture and the asian community. They may attend some asian functions like a cultural fest to get “back to their roots”, but in reality they are out of touch of the asian community. If you been to an asian functions you can spot these sell-outs. They are usually the one with the white mates who looks like they don’t have a clue to what is going on. They don’t know anything about the asian places in town, which includes the asian grocery stores, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. An af “sell-out” would be one who probably have only white friends. They may have some asian male friends but they are probably “sell-outs” themselves (yes, I think there are asian male “sell-outs”). Their af friends would probably also be “sell-outs” themselves. It would be hard for sell-outs to befriend non-sell-outs because they do not go to the same places and the extreme differences in their perspective on life makes it hard for them to get past the acquaintance stage of a relationship. I think many am think af sell-outs are out of touch of reality. They seem to think racial relations are a lot better than they really are. Which makes sense since sell-outs probably share the same views on race relations as their white friends do. But this is incredible because the wm they are with is probably saying race relations is great but he’s only willing to befriend af. Surely a truly unbiased guy who’s resourceful enough to befriend an af should have some am friends (I wouldn’t count that asian guy at work and the sell-outs’ brothers since both are obligated to be nice to this wm.). But that’s not too common and makes me think that sell-outs jump through lots of logical flaming hoops to paint their picture of reality. I find that “sell-outs” af believe themselves to be strong minded and independent. However, I find that they seem to say and do exactly what I would imagine the white majority wants them to do. They avoid the asian community and culture. They bash asian males. They only go out only with white males. So they claim to be independent but they do everything the white majority wants them to do. This I guess is an oxymoron that once again makes me think that “sell-outs” are out of touch with reality.

As for where the animosity am have for sell-outs. When an af rejects her culture, she’s also rejecting non-sell-outs at the same time. I don’t think I’m a sell-out. my culture is a part of me. It defines me. To reject it is to also reject me. As with anybody I don’t think kind thoughts to people who reject me outright without giving me a chance. The reason for rejecting asian culture is another source for animosity. Many of these sell-outs may not have gotten along with their parents (probably their father) so they take their anger out on the asian community by rejecting it and am by rejecting them. They may never have been exposed to the asian community so their rejection of it is mainly due to ignorance and laziness. Laziness because it’s hard to find out about asian culture. The great things that asia has to offer can’t be obtain just through the screen of a tv. By not putting in the time and effort to learn about the asian culture, sell-outs makes non-sell-out feel like they are not worth their time.

I apologize for not presenting my views in a amicable way. I’m not good with words and feel the need to be honest. I believe the extreme differences in the am and af views on life is an indication that somebody is out of touch of reality. I think many af are out of touch of reality because they are unknowingly letting the white majority have too much influence on their perspective on life. You probably think that I’m out of touch of reality. But what if the things I typed were true? Now how sad would that be?

Asian-American History Educated,

I'm certainly not masking a deep-rooted disrespect for Asian females, and I certainly don't need you to tell me what my obejective is here. First of all, you have no idea what my obejective is, and for you to assume so just tells me you lack the ability to try and see an issue from another's perspective. So, who's disprespecting who? Secondly, if I didn't feel as passionatly as I do regarding the value that other races bring to this society, then I wouldn't bother to be here. I've lived in an almost exclusively white world most of my life, and I hated it. I would much rather be able to associate with people of other races and cultures because it makes life more interesting, and it helps me grow as a person. You should try it sometimes. And thirdly, I still think it has to do with basic economics. Yes, it's only my opinion but it's what makes sense to me. It wouldn't bother me to see more minorities in the entertainment industry. Personnaly, I tend to find Asian characteristics very attractive. So don't give me that crap about me disillusioning anybody. Perhaps you're the one who's attempting to disillusion here. Perhaps more importantly, you're disillusioning yourself.
