Are AA Women the Real Victims of Prejudice?
sian women get a free ride at the expense of Asian men. That's the received wisdom here in the U.S. This belief appears premised on the suspicion that American society sees Asian women as sexy exotics in need of rescuing from the cold clutches of Asian men who don't know how to smile except evilly.
The real victim?

Credit Hollywood for its tireless casting of Asian women as sexual accessories to white heroes while suppressing the very existence of Asian men except as unsavory paper tigers. Credit too the TV networks that uncover bevies of talking Asian women but rarely their male counterparts.
In fairness this media fantasy of the Asian race was partly inspired by recent history. Devastated and impoverished Asian nations sent tens of thousands of war brides and orphans, followed by several million desperate immigrants willing to hock their identities while toiling to build new lives.
Male-dominated societies toast new women as exotic sexual prospects while suppressing new men as an exploitable lower class or even enemy aliens. The women get all the breaks and the men get all the lumps. Even worse, the women have their heads turned and adopt a scornful attitude toward their own men. So goes the complaint of some AA men.
The women have a different take. Sexual predators bearing insulting stereotypes must be fended off while coping with women who see them as unfair competitors. Add to that the pain of being scorned as sellouts by AA men for no more reason than their apparent welcome by American society. Worst of all, complain AA women, is being begrudged the right to take simple pleasure in their own identities. How much easier just to face straightforward racial prejudice!
Do Asian women really have an easier time in America? Or do they suffer from the double-whammy of insulting stereotypes from non-Asians and unfair persecution from Asian men?

thanks for taking the time to comment....I agree with a lot of what you are saying i just have a problem with the idea that the shortcomings of the american media are due to white people in general and not related to the fact that the media anywhere is a money making machine.
i mean i'm from australia right and never saw an asian face on the mainstream TV growing up.....do i ever hear my asian friends complain?....a bit...take this popular soap called Neighbours....there was a couple of episodes where this asian girl was trying to crack on to some white guy in the show.....me and my friends saw this and commented that she wasn't particularly good looking and we could think of 10 grrls straight away who look a whole lot better....this was our main complaint so maybe you're right about AF's being shown as inferior to WF's.....so we agree on the need for better looking asian chicks in the media and more of them....amen to that!

are you implying that I am scolding somebody? I don't think I was. my initial response to ""typical" asian woman" contained some attitude. if you read her post she starts out "whoa... where u pplz livin'? there IS a place in the U.S." she gives us a lot of attitude I just felt that I should give a little back.

if you read “all the fighting pushes us away” post it seems to me that she indicated that af are doing the right thing by abandoning the asian community because of this "bashing" by am. The following is my reply to the above.
“I think the am here are trying to convince af that they may not be doing what is in their best interest when they abandon the asian culture and community and of course am's.”
you tell me that the above statement translate to "all af who dates wm are sell-outs". I don't know how you came to this conclusion. it seems as though you are putting words in my mouth.
I am stating here that it’s not in the best interest for an af to abandon:
1) the asian culture
2) the asian community
3) the asian male
These are 3 separate items that I feel that asian females or any asians should not be abandoning. One item is not dependent on the other. Believe it or not I originally didn’t intend to include asian males. it was something I thought of right before I submitted my post.
I think it's fine for asians to date white people and I don't think IR dating makes anybody a sell out.
it appears as though you are grouping me with the people who resort to name calling and then put words in my mouth. Is this what you call "productive discussion"?

I'm an AF, what really did it for me was my boyfriend's big, fast motorcycle. Heaps more fun and exciting than a Mercedes!

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the AM with the Benz may have also had other girlfriends in the past, perhaps a WF or BF or HF ,etc: in other words, that he didn't just get the car to impress her? Who knows, maybe he bought it to impress someone else or just wanted one cos' he's worked hard for it? Or maybe it's a company car? Or maybe it's her car and she's letting him drive it? (My cousin and her hubby do this.)The possibilities are endless.
And same for the AM with the HF: maybe he's had other girls in the past like an AF, BF, or WF.
Fact is, you really can't judge from just 2 couples out of God know how many IR couples there are out there. When I see an AF in a WM's fancy car, I don't automatically assume that he went and bought it just for her.

Lol, the censored media in China is freer and more representative of the people than the media in the U.S., which is full of hidden agendas put out by our (Jewish owned & dominated)press. Just look at the coverage on 9/11 or anything on the middle east; the bias is subtlely yet incredibly pro-Israel and anti-Arab.

Re foreign aid, African leaders keep telling Bono and O'Neill the one thing that could do the most for their countries economies is not more aid, but an end to agricultural tariffs in the developed countries, so African farmers could move their energies towards supporting themselves instead of bowing and scraping to the corrupted government officials who control the distribution of aid. (Recall that Africa was a net exporter of agricultural products until the latter half of this century). Most white American college students out on the streets protesting globalism honestly believe they are helping the African poor by giving millions of dollars to the African rich. But the current US administration realizes that this doesn't work. It's easy to accuse people of being mean-spirited and greedy because they stop giving handouts, but harder to implement real solutions to the problems which the handouts were intended to solve.

Doormat Richardson is not white. He has to understand that. True, there are many Asians who would vote for the doormat, because many do not trust the whites in the GOP. Had Sanchez won, it could have been a different story.

If Mr. Bush is serious about free trade, he should remove the tariffs on steel and repeal part of the farm bill, which only helps the rich white people at the expense of the rest of America. The poor end up paying higher prices for automobiles and the middle class gets socked. I personally have not been for AA but the GOP (and even Democratic) attempts to protect the incompetent whites such as the Textile baron Milliken who made his money off Jim Crow black labor and now wants to be proteceted from the same kind of folks he exploited...black labor from the Caribbean. He can move his operations to the Caribbean, but he does not want to employ foreign blacks (as opposed to domestic blacks).
Another place where white incompetence prevails in the US is in airline industry and the US airlines are protected from foreign competition. The media says that they need to downsize. But, I think they should let the free market forces play itself out and open the airline industry to global competition. May be then the Singapore Airlines or KLM can take over some of the operations and run it more efficiently. After all, these two airlines were the only ones to make profit last year, while our white executives were sitting on the other side of the glass ceiling well protected from foreign competition, and yet sustaining heavy losses. Bush should put his money where his mouth is and remove the steel tariffs.

That is very true. WFs will date an AM they like or any man for that matter and most of them don't put prime importance on how much money they make or what kind of status car they drive.
