Are AA Women the Real Victims of Prejudice?
sian women get a free ride at the expense of Asian men. That's the received wisdom here in the U.S. This belief appears premised on the suspicion that American society sees Asian women as sexy exotics in need of rescuing from the cold clutches of Asian men who don't know how to smile except evilly.
The real victim?

Credit Hollywood for its tireless casting of Asian women as sexual accessories to white heroes while suppressing the very existence of Asian men except as unsavory paper tigers. Credit too the TV networks that uncover bevies of talking Asian women but rarely their male counterparts.
In fairness this media fantasy of the Asian race was partly inspired by recent history. Devastated and impoverished Asian nations sent tens of thousands of war brides and orphans, followed by several million desperate immigrants willing to hock their identities while toiling to build new lives.
Male-dominated societies toast new women as exotic sexual prospects while suppressing new men as an exploitable lower class or even enemy aliens. The women get all the breaks and the men get all the lumps. Even worse, the women have their heads turned and adopt a scornful attitude toward their own men. So goes the complaint of some AA men.
The women have a different take. Sexual predators bearing insulting stereotypes must be fended off while coping with women who see them as unfair competitors. Add to that the pain of being scorned as sellouts by AA men for no more reason than their apparent welcome by American society. Worst of all, complain AA women, is being begrudged the right to take simple pleasure in their own identities. How much easier just to face straightforward racial prejudice!
Do Asian women really have an easier time in America? Or do they suffer from the double-whammy of insulting stereotypes from non-Asians and unfair persecution from Asian men?

I know a Chinese girl who does not have any other Asian friends. All of her friends are her white sorority sisters. Is that wrong? No. But what bothered me about her was she looked down on other Asians esp her own. She hated how "dirty", "uneducated", etc etc other Asians are. She hates China. She hates everything about it. I really wonder what kind of upbringing she had.

As for the garbage show, thank God, I didn't see it. It's just a way of telling AF to be sweet and servile--so they can be criticised again for "trying too hard" and be laughed for it. (I'll bet you anything that the WM--if he knew that the woman was an AF--probably said this so he could make an excuse not to date the AF.)

Foreigners--of whatever colour--tend to be more humble in their adopted countries not only because they are aware of being new but also because "old world" cultures tend to instill modesty from an early age: something which is not as pronounced in American culture of "me, me, me" and "Bigger is better."
It makes sense that CONSERVATIVE white women, particularly those in the South, prefer foreign-born ethnic minorities to American-born ones. Why? Because they want Asians and other minorities to be "humble" and "obedient," just like in the good ol'days of slavery. ("Ah, if only we still lived in the grand ol' days of the Confederacy...and we had 150 slaves working on our plantation.) You see, they like minorities to "know their place"--even if they themselves have nothing more to offer than a soft, flaccid, vapid blonde head to top a soft, flaccid, ugly, double-digit size body.(If they're lucky, they might have some dumb degree from a low-tier college/university.)
From my own personal experience, I've noticed that white women--more so than white men or minorities in general--hate it when I mouth back at them. LOL, I've enjoyed watching them get flustered--especially when someone else defends me against them: just the look on their faces suggests that if it's a WM taking my side, he's "sold out to Asian women" and if it's a BF, it's "coloured people stick together" These poor bimbos can't stop to think that maybe they're the ones f*cked in the head, poor dears!
But most of all, they absolutely deplore it when an AF displays traits that they think whites "own" exclusively--i.e., being taller, slimmer, better-dressed, and better-educated. (Probably because the phrase "white trash" pops up uncomfortably in their little brainless, bleached heads?)
This is why some white posters on Goldsea enjoy complaining about Asian women being slimmer and shopping at fancy boutiques--while not criticizing white women who display the SAME traits. What they deem "confidence" in a white woman, they deem "aggressiveness" and "snobbishness" in an AF. Talk about double standards!
Yeah, so as long as I'm in the good ol' U.S of A, you bet I'm gonna act as "white" and "privileged" as any of these women. And no, it doesn't entail wearing coloured contacts, bleaching my hair or even dating a white man. Cos' as the L'Oreal saying goes, "I'm worth it!"*
*Note that L'Oreal would probably never have a minority woman say that on the commercial: only blondes and other whites.

K. Chang. Sorry if I've offended you. I guess I certainly understand some anger. I mean the Joy Luck Club is a total joke, like I said. And it really seems that white men--maybe just all men who have modern minds--almost need some image, symbol of inferiority--and that Asian males stereotypes somewhat serve that purpose now that black males are many times idealized---I know as athletes, singers, and thugs but our culture has come to idealize those figures the most through MTV, etc.--the long culmination of anti-bourgeois "rebellion"...which is simply the revaluation of previously negative, and oppressive images of blacks. And I certainly get pissed off at asian women--or at least the stories I hear of Asian women--hating their "patriarchal", etc., native land. Again, go read some books lady and stop watching dumb images. It's ridiculous the trite, self-serving, self-satisfied one line stereotypes that serve as cultural description from people so stupid they wouldn't know when the WWI occured or who is the vice president...people who think all Muslims are terrorists and kill all adulterers while we are such a humane and progressive land---images vs. images, not reality at all.
But, there are these crazy Asian males I know too...though maybe I really shouldn't blame the victim. One guy I just recently talked to was the epitome of Asian male rage and distortion of reality to soothe his ego...but maybe he really was an extreme case. And I know alot more white males who really are ugly and screwed up. Maybe you are right in one sense--we should concentrate on white distortions and ego soothing and stupidity rather than blaming the victim. It's just, I'm an Asian male so maybe Asian male self-sabotage hurts me more in the gut--like I don't like brothers hurting themselves. I wonder if there really is such a disparity though? Maybe there is, but again, it's not like you're competing against Tom Cruise or whoever else...there are alot, alot of duds out there and women of all types to suit you and not to hard to get so I'm thinking...
As for preferring white women...I admit I did as I grew up seeing only beautiful white women on TV and in magazines...but that changed after I visited Seoul, S. Korea and saw the most beautiful women, on average, in the the world...or at least what little of the world I've seen...better than Paris, Amsterdam, any city in the U.S. I came back from there...and landed in the good ol' USA--I saw the reality more clearly--Americans are generally fat and ugly--just our images of athletes and hollywood override this reality when we "compare" races...yes, image is very, very important though certainly not "everything".
And as I learned to combat our image based culture and see more of reality...damn, Asian women are hot...but so are black, hispanic, and whatever else. I personally prefer black haired women though of no particular ethnicity...but look, America really is the land of opportunity--even women with some vague, anti-asian stereotype--will overcome it in this age of multiculturalism if she finds you attractive.

Only women who compete with WF are the Asian women...in education, sciences, etc. A substantial proportion of Middle Eastern women are kept behind the veils by fundamentalists and other nutcases. So, I can see the anti-Asian woman feeling among many WFs.
And please do not disappear for too long.

I said that I wouldn't avoid meeting AFs in the future, despite my negative encounters with those particular 3. I realize that 3 is not a realistic number to base a judgement on; I was merely relating my past experiences, not flaming or posting random insults. As for WFs getting fired, you are correct. People get fired for all kinds of reasons. The person I was discussing was fired because of her inability to interact with others. I was not implying that WFs do not get fired from their jobs. Also, I re-read my post, and I never said I didn't like AFs. My point was that my personal experiences with American-born AFs in the past, albeit a very small number of them, has not been positive. I don't know any other AFs at the moment. As for not "taking crap" from anyone, I don't believe you should, either. I don't. I'm sorry if you don't like white people voicing their opinions here.

There is a difference between assertiveness, and downright bitchiness, snottiness, attitude and rudeness, all of which I have come across in many AFs.
