Are AA Women the Real Victims of Prejudice?

sian women get a free ride at the expense of Asian men. That's the received wisdom here in the U.S. This belief appears premised on the suspicion that American society sees Asian women as sexy exotics in need of rescuing from the cold clutches of Asian men who don't know how to smile except evilly.
AA Woman
The real victim?

Credit Hollywood for its tireless casting of Asian women as sexual accessories to white heroes while suppressing the very existence of Asian men except as unsavory paper tigers. Credit too the TV networks that uncover bevies of talking Asian women but rarely their male counterparts.
In fairness this media fantasy of the Asian race was partly inspired by recent history. Devastated and impoverished Asian nations sent tens of thousands of war brides and orphans, followed by several million desperate immigrants willing to hock their identities while toiling to build new lives.
Male-dominated societies toast new women as exotic sexual prospects while suppressing new men as an exploitable lower class or even enemy aliens. The women get all the breaks and the men get all the lumps. Even worse, the women have their heads turned and adopt a scornful attitude toward their own men. So goes the complaint of some AA men.
The women have a different take. Sexual predators bearing insulting stereotypes must be fended off while coping with women who see them as unfair competitors. Add to that the pain of being scorned as sellouts by AA men for no more reason than their apparent welcome by American society. Worst of all, complain AA women, is being begrudged the right to take simple pleasure in their own identities. How much easier just to face straightforward racial prejudice!
Do Asian women really have an easier time in America? Or do they suffer from the double-whammy of insulting stereotypes from non-Asians and unfair persecution from Asian men?

Asian Dom,

FYI - i just saw a new Loreal commercial or was it Ferria with one hell of a cute asian girl on it....but i think she was a bit overshadowed by the main white girl (not a blonde)....still quite nice touch on the advertisers part!

Hello, Some Thoughts:

This is the root of the problem. Too many Asians fail (or refuse) to see the detrimental effects of the excess love that Asian women have for the white race. And when some Asian men manage to rise above their average race brethren, some of them exact revenge by dating white and then openly go out of their way to disparage Asian women.

We do not live in a race-blind society. If we did, there would be no AAF posting board. There would be no Goldsea.

I'm glad that you like your non-Asian women, but your life will be much richer if you learn to appreciate Asian women not only for their outer beauty but for their unique perspectives on life. In many ways, Asian female individuals have worldviews that it is impossible for white or black women to even conceive, worldviews that complement the modern Asian man.

No offense taken anymore. Peace.

Most Asians that left their home country came here for money! Whites have money so they what to be white, marry white, act white and look white! I am black this is not just my observation other blacks, whites and latinos believe the same thing. You guys need some real asian pride. You need to exposes your culture to mainstream America not to the whites you fawn after. Be yourself, relax a little, joke a little. The Southeast Asians and the Filipinos know what I am talking about, they are the coolest!
If asians would exposed both the good and bad in their culture it would humanize them in the eyes of blacks, whites and latinos. When the face saving, money chasing days are over ASIANS WILL BE EXCEPTED COMPLETELY! And all blacks, whites and latinos will say they finally get it!
The Jews had the same problem! Hitler didn't like the Jews because he felt they were superior! He believed they were a threat, they were mysterious, they were perceived as smart, rich and cheats! Who does thet sound like also! So after the WW2 the Jews did some major P.R. work and they got a country from it!

P.S. America is waiting for you. My Asian brothers and sisters keep your heads up!

A bit wary:

Sorry if I rather over-reacted to your post. I reread your last statement and it did indeed state "I wouldn't avoid meeting American-born AFs in the future, but it sure makes me think."

I guess your post seemed like one more anti-AF post here on the first two readings: and there have been quite a few anti-AF posts on Goldsea if you go back through the last month or two (or the last year in fact).

Anyway, we AFs not ALL bad...

Sociologist:

I saw the DC guy's post but didn't bother responding because I'd already spent quite a bit of energy ranting on the annoyances forum.

Hi Asian Dominatrix,

I've enjoyed reading your posts and agree with many of your points. *^_^*

There are definitely double standards! There is so much negative connotation attached to AF's for traits that many WF's have and enjoy without excess baggage. Why?

I think it's an indirect way to keep successful AF's down on the social ladder...

AM's should take heed and support their AA sisters...If one group goes down, we all go down.

marikit,

I understand what you're talking about. My little cousin of about 4 or 5 goes to a predominately white school (our family is black, but I'll get to that later), and her mom was talking to us at a get-together, and she told us that she wanted to introduce her daughter to another little girl from the area, and she was discussing it with another person while she was in the room, and happened to mention that the other girl was black. Well, my little cousin said, almost with disgust, "black?" It would have been hilarious if not for the fact that she had such a problem with playing with another black girl. The situation with the Chinese girl you're describing is simply being played out on a higher level. I mean, I know black people, hispanic people, and asian people that live in largely caucasian areas and don't carry themselves like they're above others of their own race and hang out with everyone and anyone, regardless of what their ethnic background is. But there are always those select few that hang with nothing but white kids and feel that discussing or being with those of their own race or anybody but whites is below them. Haven't seen too many guys go this route, but it's almost always girls...go figure.
