Kristin Kreuk: Next Asian American Beauty?
t isn't a question of droolworthiness. Her looks are dazzling enough to have locked up a lead role in each of her first three auditions, including the title role in an upcoming TV movie. It's more a question of whether most of us would identify hazel-eyed Smallville heartthrob Lana Lang as a fellow Asian.
Kristin Laura Kreuk was born to a Chinese mother and a Dutch father on December 30, 1982. She grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Kreuk, 5-4, had decided to go to college to study forensic pathology until, in her senior year, her drama teacher suggested she go to an audition for a new Fox Family series called Edgement. She was promptly plucked out of the open audition to play a Chinese Canadian high scool student named Laurel Yeung. Even as she won fans in the role, she landed the Lana Lang role for WB's dramatization of Superboy's life as Clark Kent, then the role of Snow White in the ABC TV movie set for release in 2002. Kreuk's star-quality was obvious to all who tuned in for Smallville's premiere last October. Some even proclaimed her the show's main attraction.
But many Asian American viewers didn't even suspect Kreuk's Asian ancestry. Even those who learned of her mother's nationality questioned whether she can be claimed by Asian Americans. Without an Asian surname or obvious Asian facial features, they argue, Kreuk's success would do nothing for the image of Asians in the American media. Others might argue that most African American stars are, in fact, only fractionally of African descent.
Should we claim Kristin Kreuk and other hapas like her as Asian American celebrities? Or should that designation be reserved for those with a more obviously Asian identity?

Kristin is really pretty and her eyes are so sexy. Yes, she does look more white than asian, but who cares. She does have a certain asianess to her look. Her eyes are bright and mysterious, which are rarely found in pure white girls. Her silky black hair suits her golden tanned asian skin. Yes she is so hoooooooooooot.
I Love U. I bet her mom looks great tooo. Anyone got a photo of Kristin's mommy?
And I think all nationality and ethnicity can look so beautiful, but they can look even better if they add all the positive traits of each race or ethnicity into one individual. I think a perfect beauty should have bloods of all color. heheheheeh. And I m no idiot. By the way, I m looking for wallpapers of Kristin, so please post urls for me. Thanks for advance.

For all you people arguing about Krisitin not looking the least bit Asian:

Like KiKi I too think that Kristin Kreuk looks more White than Asian.
But many people have said the same about me. Kreuk probably looks a little more Caucasian than me. Reasons being:
1) hazel eyes
2) more Caucasianish shaped nose
3) slightly more defined facial features
However, my skin is fairer/paler than hers. Haven't ya all noticed that she's fairly tanned?
I can easily identify Asian features in her:
1) she's petite
2) can see some Asian in the shape of her eyes
3) she can tan (she's yellower than me... hehe)
4) smooth Asianish skin
5) somewhat Asianish hair
6) less facial/body hair (ever noticed how some White women are so hairy you can see little hairs on the sides of their neck and cheaks (those who don't take as much care of themselves)? Kinda like fur!)
7) her features are just the right balance, not too sharp/rough
8) she doesn't look like she'll age like a White girl (esp. hollow cheeked blondes and red heads)
9) do you see White people with nice full lips, like hers? I don't think so!
Unless they're half Mexican!!!
10) there must be more

[They seem to be obsessed with their looks and you can be assured that they only date white Caucasian guys or hapa guys, and not Asian guys.]

As for those that date White Caucasian guys... I dunno...
I think way too many Asian brothers are getting a taste of hapa in Hawaii and other parts of the U.S. So you don't have to worry about Asian American guys not getting any "hapa booty" calls.
